  1. More food for thought beyond just looking at the resumes: When the Astros extended Dusty Baker, they risked losing Joe Espada. It may soon become reality. Execs weigh in on Mets manager candidate Matt Quatraro
  2. They should be. Those are the successful teams over the last few years. 1.-3. That makes sense. But I know people on this board think more analytically and would probably want a manager like Quatraro or Espada. Then again, maybe Guillen or Bochy make sense if they want to go old school and keep the same broke and busted club as this year. 4. Fair enough. But if Hahn were to hire one of the two I have proposed, maybe they could influence the investments into scouting, medical staff, development and analytics people have called for. But that is the organization we should hope for and not the one we have.
  3. I’m surprised people aren’t talking more about Espada or Quatraro and are spending more time talking about Guillen or Bochy. Wouldn’t it make sense to add one of these two guys as the manager, given their recent history with successful teams?
  4. Because White Sox fans overvalue their players.
  5. If he does bring Abreu back, Sheets has to go and they need an actual right fielder.
  6. I’m in. I also am not one of the many people on this site that think they are fucked for next year and I certainly am not Bernstein and Holmes, who annoyingly just bitched for the first hour about the team before they finally talked for 15 minutes about solutions.
  7. Man I really want Andrus at second base next year for us.
  8. Except when it probably means second place. f*** off Jerry. Enjoy the offseason Stoney. See you next year.
  9. 6. Has minor league experience or has had a hand in coaching on a championship team. 1. Joe Espada 2. Matt Quatraro 3. Bruce Bochy ? 4. Sandy Alomar, Jr. 5. Joe Maddon 6. Carlos Beltran 7. George Lombard 8. Willie Harris 9. A.J. Hinch 10. Eduardo Perez 11. Justin Jirschele 12. Ozzie Guillen 13. Miguel Cairo Numbers 1, 2, 4, 6 and 9 are who I want. If I had to pick between two I would pick Quatraro over Espada. What many posters on Soxtalk just wasn’t going to happen. I must have missed the question. What did he say exactly? Was Jerry shown at the press conference or did TLR mention he was there? It’s got to just be Ozzie’s opinion of who it will be. I doubt he knows anything concrete. I still don’t know what that means, or if it is really important to know what it means.
  10. If Nightengale wrote that second sentence, he’s full of s%*#.
  11. Damn, so Bernstein may have been wrong with his reporting. Pass on Ausmus, Bochy, Scioscia, Girardi, AJP, Harris, Maddon and Guillen. Interview Espada, Quatraro, Alomar, Jr. and Beltran.
  12. Remember when the White Sox offered Machado the most money overall? That was a knee slapper. Also, Jake Diekman is going to be an expensive DFA candidate next year. Bad resource management.
  13. Deal Sheets and pick up that bat then. Even though I like Sheets better than Vaughn.
  14. The more I see, the more I like letting Harrison go and having Gonzalez and Andrus in the infield next year. And Martin is a good addition to the staff, along with one to two good starting pitchers next year.
  15. I remember those high school days. I made signs, shirts and even wrote on a softball to ask a girl to homecoming. And in middle school I put a rose in a girl‘s locker. As you can see, things were getting out of hand before 2022.?
  16. Then those calling for it on this board need to get that through their frustrated heads.
  17. Half of the fan base wanting a rebuild is a stretch. Even if a rebuild was in order, how would they shed these contracts instead of DFAing players like Grandal and Garcia? Why can’t people give the team one more year before advocating for a rebuild? I just don’t understand the possibility of a path towards a rebuild with this team.
  18. Even so, the manager could be hired with the intent of collaborating with the GM on those hires.
  19. Yes you will. I’m sure we will you and others making a similar statement in April and around the boards in the offseason regardless of what happens. And yes, you will all watch.
  20. Realistically, Williams and Hahn aren’t going anywhere. This is the White Sox and Jerry Reinsdorf we are talking about. However, if Bernstein’s report is indeed true, then I agree with Matt Spiegel’s assessment, they need to bring someone from outside the organization to manage the team and have the ability to pick their own coaching staff without holdovers. Yes, even Katz. Now I’m wondering who that is.
  21. I just want him to come clean with the reason that move was made. They had a bad asset they needed to move and it wasn’t going to happen at the deadline.
  22. Interesting how Leury disappeared from the lineup even though he was given a three year deal, which was mostly because of the HR against Houston last year. And that starting catcher is among the players who can f*** off. Hit some home runs and get some extra base hits instead of trying to just be the Greek God of Walks. Don’t blame your health on it either.
  23. Would you prefer that outfielder or the reliever who sucked balls that he was traded for?
