  1. Hopefully you get it before any court decision blocks any of the EO. Let us know how it goes!
  2. My old man went to at least two to three more games this year, including the last one against Minnesota and another against Colorado that were non competitive games. He wants to see what they do with with the team on the field before he commits any money next year. I agree with this approach, especially if he is retired and can easily come over to my house and watch the games on cable and see his grandson.
  3. This year, the thing I learned for going in small groups is using StubHub. You can filter by including fees and selecting specific sections, then you can evaluate the prices of the tickets you’re going to buy. You can search on the map on Ticketmaster, but the fees are never included. If you use Ticketmaster, you also need a separate app for parking. I am usually good for one game in April or May with about 15-20 people for my birthday and we always sit in the outfield to keep things affordable. But other games really depend on who wants to go and what my availability is. Using StubHub makes sense to save on tickets and occasionally parking, but also for the convenience of using one app. And I’d rather buy from a resale market for a bargain instead of direct from a team, unless the deal is like Bleachers & Brews, which is a fairly good deal the team offers that I have used for many outings with lots of people.
  4. They also talked about Ozzie on the Score. It doesn’t mean Guillen or Thome will get hired.
  5. So have they only interviewed Espada and Washington thus far, or Harris too? I haven’t seen much reported on these interviews…
  6. That Griffin pass should have been an easy touchdown. I’d like to know what the play was supposed to do when the ball got batted down, what was the intent of the three receivers to the right standing there? I wish they would have tried a Montgomery toss or RPO and threw to anyone open on the last set of downs. Or they could have run a play like this (the 9:04 mark). Velus Jones needs to sit and not return punts, that would be great. Make that kid learn before he fumbles again. Lastly, we really have to hope that Fields improves with an actual roster next year, because his stats aren’t going to cut it when he has an actual line and WR core next year. He has athleticism and can throw the ball, but it is painful watching him make a completion right now. It better be a personnel issue.
  7. Bears should be up with a Griffin TD, a Pettis TD and at least a FG.
  8. The only thing I can think of is that JR doesn’t want to hire someone who will need more staff in analytics, training and scouting, which is what Espada and Quatraro probably need.
  9. Same. If JR wants to meddle again though, I hope he hires Sandy Alomar, Jr. I don’t understand his motivation other than the older guys might come cheaper. I don’t understand the Reddit report specifically against hiring Espada.
  10. Wondering why JR doesn’t want to hire Espada, other than the Astros cheating scandal or that he’s afraid of changing the way things get done.
  11. My sister posted this too, I think she may work with either the wife or a member of his or her family. I’m thinking of donating.
  12. This thread is appropriate, but what games stand out as bad losses this year? - The Naylor HR game - The Diamondbacks sweep - The extra inning loss in Detroit
  13. I share your hopium and optimism.
  14. Yeah this place makes watching the games bearable. Thanks for the jokes, the rightfully so ripping and the cheering.
  15. From my frustrated dad who is at the game when I told him about Martin being hurt. “The only injury he had was pride.” ?
  16. Question for something I should know. If they pinch run a position player for a catcher and the next inning they put in a new catcher and puts that position player in the outfield, how does that work? And how does a team give up the DH with a substitution?
  17. One thought I have been kicking around is that they will be playing more games against different opponents and can’t use division games as a crutch like they did last year. I often thought that the league got better and the Sox didn’t. They are going to have to get creative if they truly won’t spend their way out of this and make moves to get better if they actually want to compete.
  18. More food for thought beyond just looking at the resumes: When the Astros extended Dusty Baker, they risked losing Joe Espada. It may soon become reality. Execs weigh in on Mets manager candidate Matt Quatraro
  19. They should be. Those are the successful teams over the last few years. 1.-3. That makes sense. But I know people on this board think more analytically and would probably want a manager like Quatraro or Espada. Then again, maybe Guillen or Bochy make sense if they want to go old school and keep the same broke and busted club as this year. 4. Fair enough. But if Hahn were to hire one of the two I have proposed, maybe they could influence the investments into scouting, medical staff, development and analytics people have called for. But that is the organization we should hope for and not the one we have.
  20. I’m surprised people aren’t talking more about Espada or Quatraro and are spending more time talking about Guillen or Bochy. Wouldn’t it make sense to add one of these two guys as the manager, given their recent history with successful teams?
  21. Because White Sox fans overvalue their players.
  22. If he does bring Abreu back, Sheets has to go and they need an actual right fielder.
