Danny Parkins is leaving the Score on Friday. It makes me wonder what they will do to replace him. Maybe they will move Bernstein and Holmes to afternoons and bring Spiegel back to mornings with another partner.

Will they break the streak tonight?

D. The Fedde return was light. Kopech and Pham probably didn’t have much value. They needed something out of the Cardinals in that deal. I don’t really understand what the direction is in the offseason or years to come. I don’t know if I believe what fathom has said about their financial issues. These trades brought some prospects back but it isn’t clear where this franchise is headed, especially if they have budgets cut further year over year. They need to become the Rays in order to be competitive.
-
Prove it?
-
Then the Sox need to morph to become the Rays or end up like the Pirates.
-
That all makes sense. I both can and can’t see them just filling the roster with cheap veteran players to field a team next year. I guess it depends on if the theory JR is just getting ready to sell holds true. I’m hoping there will be more flip able and Fedde types signing but I’m not holding my breath. They probably need a reset with Crochet and Robert moves since they aren’t offering extensions to either of them and then we can evaluate where there needs are from the minors, something that isn’t quite clear with the trade “returns” we had today and tomorrow. Not just every need (like a competent GM which is wishful thinking or a new manager, an obvious and realistic need) but where our greatest player needs are all things considered.
-
It couldn’t be much worse than the endless Machado and Wheeler threads.
-
So are you saying that their payroll is open next year and they should be able to afford to sign players or are you more in line with fathom’s line of thinking that they are broke and won’t pay anyone worth anything?

Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
The Beast replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Co-signed. I see him and Robert being moved in the offseason, if at all. -
Not sure who they’ll trade by the deadline tomorrow but I doubt it will be Crochet (maybe in the offseason). Maybe Flexen, Brebbia, Wilson, or DeJong.

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
The Beast replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don’t really understand what Getz is doing with his transactions. I could understand Pham and Kopech not having much value, but I am having a tough time understanding how them with Fedde yielded such a low return. This organization is going to be in the wilderness for some time if they don’t make moves that make sense or develop talent. Can’t wait for Bears season. -
I saw this while I ate my lunch and dreamed for a few minutes, even if I know in reality much of this might not and probably won’t happen.

Another player that I wish the Sox would have signed and flipped.
-
I wonder what happened to HSC and Stef/Steph? on the boards from around that time.

How the F are we ever going to build an offense?
The Beast replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Then it seems like the White Sox will have to hit on the draft picks they do have, scout overseas and invest wisely. Which we know they haven’t with what has been said in other threads. Although I can withhold further judgement until after the deadline and into the offseason. Getz is still taking out the trash so maybe he will be able to spend more (wisely…) in the offseason and help himself from making stupid trades like Mena for Fletcher, as an example. -
Great post. Hopefully people who fall into the Score see that tomorrow.
-
Seeing what the Cubs did today makes sense. They saw some opportunity with the Tampa third baseman and traded Morel and an aging pitcher in their system. I can understand what their front office is doing, but I can’t understand what Getz is doing, or what lies or ideas he sold Jerry on to replace Hahn and Williams.

But what happened to the Frank Thomas’, Alex Fernandez’s, Mark Buehrle’s and Tadahito Iguchi’s of the world? Poor drafting and not willing to pay the posting fee/get into bidding wars? You’re right that something is off and there are several factors but it just doesn’t seem to be so difficult. -
Not sure, we need one of our knowledgeable posters to pull this up if a Google search doesn’t show the answer easily. Is an estate tax minimal compared to a capital gains tax? The Tampa way makes sense to me. Too bad JR’s executives and scouts don’t know how to find talent and don’t have the staff to develop talent like Tampa does. I think I have actually gotten more into football as the years have gone on. My first love may have been the White Sox, but the Bears have been more interesting as of late even during the Nagy era. Same. And I don’t want my son to become one.

7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
The Beast replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2024 Season in Review
I might have to check out the Chicago Dogs or Kane County Cougars. I doubt I’ll be a Cubs fan, it doesn’t make economic sense for me, what is what was always so great about Sox games. Tailgating, affordable tickets and easy to get to and get home. I can’t say the same about Wrigley and I have no attachment to that team. Though I don’t really have an attachment to this team and haven’t been a huge fan in some time. They were fun to watch in the 2000s but I can’t say the same now, save for the Tim Anderson walk off against Detroit and the Yankees and the walk off grand slam by Jose Abreu against Tampa Bay. -

I wouldn’t have gone if my friend didn’t want to go. Same with my dad. We would not have gone unless people wanted to go, especially since I’d rather spend any money I have with family. -
Yes, part of me thinks that if they were going to deal people, they would have done so like the Rays did by now. It would sure suck to be Pham or DeJong if they were on this team after the deadline.

How did they build an offense in the 90s and early 2000s?
