  1. I still think they need to acquire an actual successful starting pitcher through free agency or a trade. Decide if they really need Sheets and see if he can bring that starting pitcher back. I doubt they bring an ex-White Sox player back, that doesn’t happen all that often.
  2. So just so I’m clear, are we giving him until year three of four or possibly five to be something? Also, other thoughts on Rodgers. Sure, he owns the Bears. He has one super bowl ring and they make the playoffs consistently, but they aren’t that great compared to other elite franchises that have made the super bowl more regularly. The Packers also will eventually have to experience some failure at the quarterback position and not get as lucky as they have with the tenure of Favre and Rodgers.
  3. Play should have been, Fields under center, Montgomery short behind him, TE in motion and everyone pushes. On that drive, they should also try a fake to Montgomery and slant to a receiver who can catch it. Brisker and Gordon better learn from this and perform better as the year goes on.
  4. Something tells me this thread isn’t going to age well and the original poster will regret this post.
  5. Throw the ball in the middle of the field. Run some tosses. Do some roll outs. Run that s%*# Green Bay does where the WR goes to the other side and they give to him or the running back. Do something, they look like Nagy’s offense out there. And the defense can’t stop Jones or any wideout, which is annoying.
  6. They need a better pitcher than Giolito and they need more depth. If they want to be an actual contender and not just get lucky with someone like Cueto, they would spend some money and get an established quality pitcher (someone who isn’t the caliber of Dallas Keuchel).
  7. It can’t hurt to have him as a number 5 or depth piece, but he should not replace Cueto or be the next arm they need for the rotation.
  8. Bunting on David Wells was a great move on the Cubs part since he fielded poorly and threw his back out. Sean Lowe was brilliant in long relief that day. Lee, Ordonez, Konerko and Thomas in the lineup was fun…when they hit home runs.
  9. I was all about Valentin mocking Sosa and being a CubsKilla.
  10. At least Valentin had more power. Clayton couldn’t hit anything for s%*#. Awful average and not much to add to the team. A consolation price for no A Rod.
  11. Was it Paniagua or another pitcher that had an incident in St. Louis where there were threats?
  12. I don’t remember the Clayton versus Valentin stuff, but I do remember Clayton hitting like crap. Jeremy Burke still feels that hit from Torii Hunter. Paniagua and Koch too, maybe. I don’t remember players hating them but maybe fans did.
  13. Best case scenario here. Let’s go get it tomorrow and hope Minnesota finds their way for a day.
  14. How about a little luck a la El Duque against Boston in 2005?
  15. They couldn’t lay off the ball in the dirt. As if they are going to get a hit down there.
  16. Five BOMBS, decent defense (WTF Grandal?) and great pitching. Suck it Cleveland, don’t play games with a wet field to try and get an advantage next time! See your asses next week!
  17. I’m glad I’m working from home with no meetings this afternoon because I keep hearing about the home runs and yelling, that’s another BOMB!
  18. Let’s at least make them sweat and feel the heat. And beat the living daylights out of them to take the wind out of their sails in the playoffs!
