  1. The media training is really shining through with some of these quotes.
  2. You keep coming back to this point about letting Abreu walk. I am more interested in what happens to Sheets and Vaughn, the guys who are not outfielders. Let’s say Abreu walks, then they decide to put Vaughn or Sheets at first. I don’t think they need both of them and I am not a Vaughn fanboy like others are so I am not opposed to trading him. I also didn’t say they needed to trade both of them, that is probably the worst idea. Vaughn probably is more valuable as a trade chip to other teams, depending on what the Sox can get in return. Many people did not want to trade him for Montas and I am not sure if those same people will want to move him for someone else that can help the team. If they can deal Sheets instead of Vaughn and get the piece they need for the rotation with multiple years of team control and not a rental, I am for that. Lastly, you must have more faith that Reinsdorf will pony up the money needed to get an every day starting player out in free agency. I haven’t seen it other than the many relievers they signed in free agency. You could blame last offseason on Hahn, but it doesn’t seem like JR is willing to pay a premium to get the right pieces at the right positions. I guess we will see what happens.
  3. And yet, they will never win a World Series with him as manager so he can just collect his checks in Minnesota like Gardenhire did.
  4. I’m not sure why this is so difficult for posters to understand, as well as the need to remove the logjam from first base types in the outfield. They need to do this with one of Vaughn or Sheets EVEN IF Abreu walks.
  5. Looking at the offseason moves for next year: - Another one year special for Giolito - A dislodging of Vaughn and Sheets at the corner outfield. They are not corner outfielders so stop putting them out there and deal one to get a starting pitcher. - A decision on Abreu, Harrison - A replacement for Cueto
  6. Sure would be nice if the offense actually hit and scored some runs for him though.
  7. You were saying? He just bailed Giolito out there on a ball to Sanchez.
  8. He doesn’t have Buehrle in him. He’s fighting Todd Ritchie most of the time. They better not give him a long term deal. Also Kopech has a skinny Rod Beck look to him with that facial hair.
  9. Does anyone think that Len would prefer to be doing radio 100% of the time since that is why he left the Cubs? If Benetti leaves, I can’t see Len wanting the play by play job.
  10. Okay fine. Still, people have a huge hard on for Vaughn and Sheets and they need to break the logjams that exist and stop platooning at positions where they should have actual established starters instead of first basemen in the outfield. I also just don’t trust that Reinsdorf will pump more money into the payroll make upgrades the team really needs. If Abreu goes, they have to make acquisitions to benefit the team with the money they would have spent on him. We don’t need another situation where they let someone like Rodon go and replace with an internal option like Kopech when they should have added to the roster with another starting pitcher (Cueto was also not that addition, he was an after thought).
  11. Kelly is the perfect DFA candidate next year if he sucks. Too bad Hahn needed all of the relievers.
  12. Will they actually use the $4M saved to improve the team elsewhere or is it going in JR’s personal expense account? I’d say that one of the young middle infielders would be fine, but they could always add a veteran like they did with Andrus if the young guy isn’t performing. Yeah I would have thought Davis Martin was who should have started. Maybe Kelly has been so ineffective in relief this year they thought trying him as a starter would make sense, even if he was just an opener?
  13. Can someone explain why Joe Kelly pitched as the opener on Friday night, did they need someone to take a turn for Kopech? Giolito needs to shut these guys down and get through 6 without giving up more than 3 runs. Hopefully that’s not too much to ask for since he has done it at times this year.
  14. He left one up, it could have been thrown lower. He could have messed with him but they chose not to. Either way they did their job and he was a big contributor today and the whole season. Something tells me he’ll get his no hitter when he is done pitching. He definitely is in the conversation for Cy Young and a leader in it after tonight.
  15. Competitors want to go after and win it fairly and without an asterisk, leaving no doubt as to what happened.
  16. And needs to pitch like Mark Buehrle instead of Todd Ritchie.
  17. Baldelli is a little b**** for trying to ice him. Now I hope they no hit them and sweep them tomorrow.
  18. He’s one of the few hitters I trust on this team. Sure, he will be in decline over the next few years, but if they deal one of Sheets or Vaughn and sign another player who isn’t in a platoon, I don’t see the harm in keeping Abreu, especially with more talent coming in the pipeline. I also have concerns that if they let Abreu walk, we will miss his production in the coming years.
  19. Yeah f*** his b**** ass! I didn’t see the winning fielders choice live, but did the ball get hit too slowly or too fast off of the mound for them to turn two?
  20. I hope so too. He is the best football analyst on 670 the Score by far during the Bears season.
  21. Those are all cool items. Ted Williams would be cool to have. Where did you get your weird autographed ones? Hopefully O'Neil Cruz turns into something. Most of my Sox autographs came from SoxFest and from Kids Days growing up. I also got a Frank Thomas autographed bat from a radio calling contest on 100.3.
  22. Me too. I find Dan much more entertaining solo or with another partner. I’ve tried with Lawrence but he’s just not my style. He might be if he pushed Bernstein a bit more. He laughs too hard at jokes that aren’t that funny too. I do like when Leila Rahimi joins them though. I do appreciate the Bears and White Sox interviews as well as the weekly conversation with Mike Florio.
  23. Alright, so who heard about the fun incident in Toronto last night?
