  1. I went for the first game of the double header on Saturday and sat in the upper deck behind the plate. Selection is limited in the upper deck compared to the lower deck but it has decent food and drink selection. I actually really like not having vendors and having so many busy things up and down the aisles and on the concourse in the stadium, there is less congestion and it makes for a better experience (even though I know for many that means fewer jobs). I do miss tailgating though, that makes games much more affordable. Parking has seem to have gone up with $25 when I went on Saturday and I remember it being cheaper in the past. I haven’t been able to find the coupon codes that were available in years past for discounted tickets, enabling me to get $20 seats in the lower deck, but I have had some luck price shopping on StubHub and Ticketmaster. I will need 4 tickets for Friday and am looking for tickets for 6/26 and 7/31 too. Hoping to find a deal for all of them.
  2. Hugh Hewitt believed that the media is covering up for not investigating this possibility last year. He believed that the media did this so it would hurt Trump. I’m personally open to the possibility that there was a lab leak but I don’t know if the leak was intentional or if we will ever know if it was.
  3. Nightengale’s USA Today piece was a nice PR response from JR.
  4. I shop at the Mariano’s and Aldi in Westmont and Darien and everyone I saw was wearing masks even though the stores mentioned the CDC guidance. Maybe it depends on where you live and I think it will change soon, but I was thinking that people are wearing them because they just don’t trust other people to be truthful.
  5. I’m going grocery shopping at Mariano’s and Aldi soon. I’ll bring my mask and wear it even though I am vaccinated because I am doing whatever I can to protect my son since he can’t get vaccinated yet. I’m not sure if that will do anything but I feel better wearing it. Hopefully nobody at either store will have a problem with that.
  6. Did anyone else think his swing reminded them of one of the ones in the Home Run Derby because of how the pitch was thrown?
  7. Yeah, the manager could have shut his mouth and not made this a bigger deal than it needed to be. This was a non-story until La Russa talked about it.
  8. The LOBs and Sano’s three HR game will be the story. Bummer will be blamed but they need to score more runs. Hall of Fame baseball person should be lit up for not knowing the extra inning rules against Cincinnati and for commenting on a stupid non-story in support of baseball’s unwritten rules that Earl Weaver wouldn’t even agree with.
  9. If Earl Weaver wasn’t for retaliation after someone got hit, what do old timers consider to be the “unwritten rules” in baseball?
  10. He got let go from ESPN last year in the summer or fall. Rongey filled in over the winter and I believe he also auditioned to be Bernstein’s co-host. He will be back somewhere but I doubt it’ll be with the Score.
  11. Have you researched places that you go to regularly to see if they still require masks?
  12. We are debating what to do for our 6 month year old son until he can get the vaccine too. Pretty much everyone we know is vaccinated, but I don’t know that we will have anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated be around him until he gets the vaccine. We will probably let family and friends in without masks at some point soon, but my wife needs to feel comfortable with it first (I already am if they are vaccinated). Can anyone with legal training or who practice law confirm if businesses can mandate masks in their store, regardless of the vaccine or not? I saw several answers saying yes but I wanted to confirm. I thought it was interesting that a conservative was saying this, but I think he’s trying to get the point across to the vaccine hesitant and anti vaxxers. https://morningshots.thebulwark.com/p/masks-off-now-bring-on-the-vaccine
  13. I go to Sports Clips and even though I’m an introvert I just sit and talk to the girl cutting my hair. Many of them are moms so they have a lot to say about kids or owning a home. But I don’t force a conversation if it just isn’t there. Although I have to say, I definitely should have gotten dates with the hair stylists back in the day. There are some very nice and good looking stylists there.
  14. I will probably wear a mask around people I don’t know at the store at least initially. I probably won’t wear one outside at a Sox game or when I’m gathered with familiar people outside. If I went in to the office I would still wear one on the train. I’ll probably wear one if I take the train in during flu and cold seasons. I do wonder what will happen in schools since my wife is a teacher, she may still a mask when she goes back to work this fall, although things probably will be even better by then. Hopefully enough kids get vaccinated so it is safe for all involved.
  15. Great news. Now I want to know how the numbers of fully vaccinated people shake out compared to people with one dose. I also want to know if at indoor places if it will be an honor system with not wearing masks. Or do people bring their cards to prove it? Either way I’m glad I’ve got the vaccine and a community of people who have the vaccine that I don’t need to worry about.
  16. Nah, moving from Guaranteed Rate to Soldier Field would be a b****. It’s so easy to get to the G Spot from the suburbs and even access the park from the parking lot. Walking all around from the parking lot at Soldier Field would take a ton of time and the amount of traffic on game day next to Soldier Field is awful. Guaranteed Rate is much better in terms of fan convenience and access to the park. The south side is easier to get to from the suburbs. If anything they should have turned the park the opposite way and made it so people could see the city, or they should have built a new park in the loop.
  17. Do the White Sox lead the league in catcher’s interference? Jeez!
  18. I don’t know the people, only the representative. Since I don’t speak with anti-vaxxers or vaccine hesitant people I was amazed at their willingness to share their perspectives without belittling me or resorting to personal attacks. I’ll have to watch the video later... Thanks for getting the vaccine!
  19. I didn’t agree with them, but I appreciated their perspectives so I could at least understand where they were coming from.
  20. I brought up my stance on people getting vaccinated and how I didn’t understand the vaccine hesitant. The reasons people gave were fascinating: - One woman wouldn’t get it as of now, saying that she had COVID in December and the extremely rare cases of true reinfection are actually less than people having breakthrough positive cases after being vaccinated. Her doctor said there is zero reason for her to get it right now. Research she has shows that the first shot boosts your system if you’ve had Covid and they aren’t sure about the benefits of the second one. Her 18 year old son had Covid and works in health care so he got the shot, but her husband and her 13 and 17 year old daughters won’t get it. 39 million cases and 10,000 reinfections don’t convince her it will impact her. She provided the following links: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/lasting-immunity-found-after-recovery-covid-19?fbclid=IwAR0WykDIyphOZmyiNKk16T_7sPVuSjmRK3d5O0rky1x9JxCWNAVen8En6LQ https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2021/04/previous-covid-19-may-cut-risk-reinfection-84?fbclid=IwAR2PgNjs46hryGyJ1eZgsT9tedn_dMxu-_M3Wvj7TFC_QSggNIeiVfYrV0Y - Another lady said she won’t get the vaccine because she has no allergies, skin problems, flus or colds in 25 years. She said if she puts the poison in her body she may not be able to eat peanuts or seafood or have skin problems. She believes there are too many unanswered questions about he vaccine. She believes that as more people get vaccinated that the adverse effects people experience will only increase. She said that there have been cases where vaccinated people would still have severe symptoms and die. - A mom who served in the military and was vaccinated against anthrax for years will not get it because the vaccines have not had full approval or enough clinical trials to make her think they are remotely safe and for how long. She believes there are too many what if’s and if nobody is held accountable it is wrong. Her doctor told her she’s not in the high risk category so she can wait. She also won’t wear a mask if she doesn’t have to. - My former representative who did get the vaccine said that it’s possible people aren’t getting the vaccines because the FDA didn’t fully approve them yet. Also because Kamala Harris said that she didn’t trust vaccines from the Trump administration. Or because the government hit pause on J&J with a few cases out of millions, letting on that there had to be more than the blood clots that led to the government’s pause. And because Dr. Fauci has a never ending confusion campaign.
  21. From the looks of the fall I was worried about his shin or lower leg bone. If it’s muscular that won’t be the worst thing to happen. Although I have no idea who they’d bring up.
  22. Sure, that is one thing, but firing teachers for getting vaccinated is completely different. I have a feeling plenty of issues will arise from people not complying with businesses as times goes on and that the guidance by the CDC and the rights of businesses to have their own rules will be very important. I wonder how long people are going to hold out until they decide to get the vaccine, particularly those who say they need more information before making a decision.
