  1. Of those, I would want Patterson, Gipson, Mingo, Urban, maybe Houston-Carson and Scales back. I still want to know how they did it and what they have left to spend.
  2. Sorry, same KIND of quarterback as Nick Foles, a pocket passer. I want to know more about the overall plan the Bears have and want to see the rest of the moves made. I’m not thrilled about the move and think it’s probably garbage but I’m willing to see what happens first. They seem to need someone with legs if they want to run Nagy’s offense as opposed to a pocket passer if Lazor is in charge of the play calling. Why not have both types of quarterbacks on the roster?
  3. I can’t grade Dalton or have much of an opinion until I know the rest of the offseason moves. I don’t see how Foles stays after they have signed Dalton, they might just have to cut him and then draft a quarterback. I guess my opinion of this move really hinges on who they draft at quarterback in the draft. Does someone fall in their range, do they trade up or do they take a tackle and then swoop in to draft the quarterback they want? I’m not really sure what to think about the Dalton signing. An Adam Schefter tweet seems to suggest Seattle wouldn’t move Wilson right now which leads me to believe they didn’t want to take the dead cap they would for trading him. Maybe they could trade him this summer or next offseason when the cap is lower but I doubt it. Dalton seems to be the same quarterback as Foles, so I bet Foles is the odd man out and will be released. They’ll draft another one high in the draft. Tyrod Taylor might have been a better acquisition to mix up the kind of quarterback they have on the roster, so you have the quarterback with legs and a pocket passer. I’m very interested to see what they do with the draft. I also want to see specifically how Dalton’s deal is structured. Maybe he replaces Massie? He didn’t play poorly last year. I would have wanted Williams but evidently the Biggs has spoken against that. Also, the one year deal makes sense in this market, I think for many players we are going to see a lot of them. Aside from the people on this board, I haven’t heard from many people who want to blow this up and realistically that wasn’t going to happen after that January news conference where Pace and Nagy were brought back. I can see how people could be disappointed with this move, but those Watson and Wilson trades were a bit out of reach to begin with. Aside from getting one of them or blowing things up, I’m not sure what would satisfy people, which is why the draft makes such a difference.
  4. What if the Bears went after Tyrod Taylor instead of Andy Dalton to mix up the type of quarterbacks they have on the roster and then draft Jones? I’d think that would be better.
  5. I’m glad they are getting this testing started: https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/vaccine/ct-aud-nw-nyt-moderna-coronavirus-vaccine-testing-babies-20210316-4i5s3zvugbhyfkbprw6gpmv5yu-story.html
  6. Do you believe Rutherford will contribute at the major league level?
  7. So what? Rutherford sucks and is nothing more than organizational filler.
  8. I heard they can only trade three of them too, but on draft day, Danny Parkins said they could trade four. I’m not sure if that’s true or not.
  9. It’s not going to happen or he signs somewhere other than Chicago?
  10. I’m admittedly not sure if the CDC keeps track of people they have vaccinated to the extent that I think they do. I’m just pointing out it doesn’t come down to flashing vaccination cards, that doesn’t work. I didn’t get so far to think about resale with StubHub. I thought it might be possible that the CDC would get centralized reporting but I guess not. Hopefully they do enforce social distancing and masks and if people don’t follow the rules in the park, I hope security escorts them out and the fans in the section sarcastically cheer just like when some drunken or offensive idiot gets escorted out. We’ve all seen it happen in those circumstances before.
  11. If it is an app that is tied to a database that proves someone is vaccinated, that shouldn’t be a problem. You could even tie it to tickets and people could get things scanned at once. It’s not impossible. Not necessarily...it depends on the information being shared. That’s just not true, read about what I wrote above. It’s not theatre either. It protects everyone involved, including the health of fans and employees and the owners from liability. Why not do what I described until herd immunity with vaccines is reached?
  12. And if someone has a problem with needing a vaccine to get in, that is too damn bad.
  13. A ticket on an app with a vaccine card tied to the ticket and the CDC database shouldn’t be that hard. Exactly. After what we have gone through over the last year I can’t see why anyone would object, unless they are freedom caucus warriors.
  14. I’ll be curious to see if people will need to provide proof of vaccinations (like on an app connected to a CDC database) for people to get in to full capacity sporting events and concerts.
  15. I haven’t heard much about the long term side effects but if there was something major, the media would be all over it. Just think of it this way, if you are eligible, get the vaccine because you are helping fight the virus by having more people be vaccinated. Wouldn’t you rather have protection against the variants instead of having nothing at all? The best ways to combat the variants are to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible and continue to wear masks.
  16. Bummer, he was the rich guy I chose last time to try and tackle the state budget. I’m not surprised though.
  17. Fair enough but if you look at past mayoral races and how often people win re-election, I don’t see how she will lose this time around.
  18. Let me put it this way. I am going to enjoy the White Sox this year, but I also am realistic. It is possible that key players regress from last year’s performances, that acquisitions do not live up to what they should be able to bring to this club and that injuries take a toll on the team and expose depth issues (which is why I thought more money spent on pitching and another bat would help and I can easily see them standing pat at the deadline). However, it is possible that the perfect storm I mention above does not happen, players like Vaughn, Cease and Kopech take the next step forward and flourish this year and the team wins 90+ games and a division title. I would call progress actually winning a series in the postseason this year and getting ready to win a World Series either this year or in the coming years. I think it is dangerous for people (not necessarily you) to not consider what could happen to negatively impact this team. I’m optimistic they will be competitive, but I also don’t have blinders on to the issues the team could face this year.
  19. A summary from The Daily on “Children and Covid” with Michael Barbaro and Apoorva Mandavilli. “At the end of the US vaccination campaign, a quarter of the population will not be vaccinated. At the end of the summer, parents may be vaccinated, but their kids won’t be. Kids don’t get sick at the same rate adults do. Covid is mild in kids. The risk for kids is very different. Most young kids don’t get symptoms and some do get sick. Overall, there have been 250 deaths in kids versus 500,000 deaths in adults. Like returning to schools, or when the vaccines will be available to all, there is a moving target with information known about transmission in kids. The elementary ages of kids are half as transmissible as adults are. Older teens are more likely to transmit, right around the age of 15. By the end of the year or early next year, we will need kids to be vaccinated. We need 80% of the population to be vaccinated to get to herd immunity and kids are a part of that population. Pfizer and Moderna have clinical trials for kids 12 and older and we should know results by the summer. Kids younger than that should be included in those trials after that and we won’t have results on that until the fall and the results with vaccines until the end of the year or even early next year. Will parents have their kids get the vaccine especially if they reason that the virus isn’t as much of a problem? Would companies showing data that they are safe and with minimal side effects put your mind at ease to vaccinate your kids? Will teachers and staff go back to work this fall with vaccines? What if it is a requirement to make it a priority to vaccinate teachers and not a requirement for in person instruction to resume? What if everyone has to wear masks for instruction to resume? Grandparents, likely to be vaccinated and wanting to see their unvaccinated children in the coming months. “I’m vaccinated, I might carry the virus but I’m not going to get very sick from it.” Is that the right calculation? Will people be able to hug their grandkids without a mask on before putting it back on? There are no guarantees. Numbers are falling because of the precautions being in place. Variants will become dominant, especially by mid March in the United States. If restrictions are lifted we could see increases in cases, but not necessarily in deaths or hospitalizations and could bring on a new wave. So what do we do? Keep washing hands, wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Get vaccinated. Hold on until the end of the year until kids can get vaccinated.” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/19/podcasts/the-daily/coronavirus-pandemic-children-vaccinations.html
  20. I’m curious, would it be so bad to wear masks until enough kids (the rest of the population) are vaccinated? Also, what do people think will happen for people to gain entry into concerts or sporting events? Will people need to show proof on an app linked to the CDC’s database? I guess it depends on the liability that owners want to take on if there is an outbreak and they get sued. As a father of a 4 month old and someone who is looking to change jobs and may have to take the train into a new employer, I would like the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine since my wife (a teacher) and I could have protection but my son wouldn’t at least until the end of this year or maybe next. It’s certainly not the same situation as you have but I am sure you can understand why I would want more protection.
  21. Thanks for sharing, that was a better listen than my usual morning consumption of political podcasts.
  22. What would you say if they signed Winston to be the starter, drafted an offensive lineman and Kyle Trask? Also, a recap on the Trubisky trade: https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/how-49ers-bears-2017-trade-looks-mitchell-trubisky-option-declined The things that hurt the most were Trubisky, Fred Warner and Alvin Kannada (not picked by the 49ers, obviously). https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/nfl/bears/.amp/news/two-years-later-bears-love-what-they-get-from-khalil-mack The verdict is still out on the Mack trade.
  23. What if Mac is available at 20 though? I don’t know what he would cost if they were to move up but I would imagine it would cost the first, second or third and fourth round pick to take him higher in the first.
  24. The asking price that a local reporter they interviewed on 670 said would be a second round pick and fourth round pick.
