  1. Why have partisans become so toxic? Was it this bad during the Clinton and Bush years?
  2. Right now he has responded saying I don’t like people with differing opinions, which is wrong. I’m a moderate who likes hearing both sides, but I don’t like seeing the same shit over again that has been discussed. Now he’s bringing up whataboutism on Trump even though the president is mentioned at different angles and not the same points over and over again with the VP nominee. He seems to have an issue with masks and wants to open the economy with no restrictions tomorrow. And he appears to have points about several of us collectively. Let’s see what he has that is new to say and if he continues attention seeking. I can listen to opposing viewpoints and debate issues, but not restated points. Otherwise, next.
  3. Yeah I’m starting to be done with his shit. He doesn’t listen to anyone, keeps reiterating the same points, whines incessantly and seems to come on here for affirmation about his positions. It’s a free country and he’s just one man, so he can freely do what he wishes and his views aren’t representative of everyone else in his camp. It’s also not worth having a conversation with someone who doesn’t respond to points being made, answer questions or even answer why he talks in third person.
  4. Political candidates all have flaws because of long careers and what is found in opposition research. You can think what you want about those candidates, but your views are not representative of the entire voting block. I’d rather give voters more credit to analyze candidates for the nomination and come up with better reasoning for why they think multiple candidates would be fits rather than relying on celebrities or the former First Lady (who again, has no interest in politics) to be the Vice President. Give some people more credit than just focusing on one person, a celebrity and former First Lady. You seem so concerned about the VP pick, yet you seem to think that an actual convention would involve both First Ladies and believe it is an automatic win over Trump? Wow.
  5. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/14/854433511/the-pros-and-cons-of-12-potential-running-mates-for-joe-biden?fbclid=IwAR2lrU9CBHCYYDO1xQb2vCT27QPu5Q5Y8qq575uVwF9ISUHO_nzqcC4YuGE Greg, read this. Knock yourself out, but it is going to be one of these women. Why can’t Harris handle it? Why do you feel the need to bring up Abrams repeatedly? She likely doesn’t have the experience needed and won’t be the pick. Why the hell are you so anxious about her being the VP? You also didn’t read what I said about Obama. She doesn’t want to be in politics. If they chose Warren, Trump would love it and could label Biden and her as a socialist. Warren needs to be a senator because the Republican Governor will replace her with someone from his party, plain and simple. You’re ridiculous. Look at the context without your own feelings and bias. He was being lighthearted at the end and made a random and stupid comment. It will be used in attack ads but it will blow over and the whataboutism wars will persist.
  6. The White House doesn’t deny it: https://apnews.com/fdda2ff0b877416c8ae1c1a77a3cc425/Trump:-Why-allow-immigrants-from-'shithole-countries'
  7. Was a segregationist or worked with senators who were? I know what Harris mentioned with busing but if there is more I am not aware of, let me know. He has such a long political history that I haven’t focused on his record way back when. Biden’s tone is exactly how it had been in the debates and is consistent with how he had been as VP. His answers were long and needed to be directed towards what he will do now. They need to have a longer interview next time and he needs to talk about policies moving forward, since I am guessing the Breakfast Club is for a younger audience. I wouldn’t worry about Abrams, I don’t think she’s getting it. I’m not sure why you have an issue with Harris, but she is qualified. Klobuchar is a moderate but I just don’t see her as VP. There’s not a chance in hell that Gabbard is VP, I don’t know why some gravitate towards her. Michelle Obama is not going to be the VP either, she has no interest in it.
  8. I watched the whole interview. It wasn’t Biden’s best performance, but there were a few issues with the interview: - Biden needed to tailor his responses towards what he will do now, since young voters and older voters alike want to know about now and not the record. So he needs to spell out plans for now that will help black Americans and not just the ones in prison. - His staffer needed to schedule out more time, interrupting for Biden’s wife to use the video didn’t help matters. - Biden needed to finish differently, even though I think he was being lightheaded with the host at the end of the interview and I don’t think Biden made the last comment come out the way it did, even though it will be taken that way. He needs to clean things up when interviewing and consider how his remarks will be used in attack ads. You’re right, one block of voters should not be taken for granted.
  9. I’m still debating if what Biden said was that wrong. I see it more of turning off voters in his tone, but I don’t think the message is necessarily wrong, especially when you have a president saying there are very fine people in both sides and call countries shithole countries.
  10. The focus should be less on the Chinese government and more on education, educational programs and entrepreneurship at home. Biden needs to point this out while Trump rambles on fearmongering about China. Contrary to what 775 says, I couldn’t care less about China compared to what is going on here. We need to focus on the impact of automation and problem solving here instead.
  11. Even on Meet the Press or Face the Nation? Trump himself is exhausting, although if they ignore him, he will accuse the media of not covering him. They have an impossible task, hold him to the fire or ask him questions and he goes off the rails.
  12. https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/ct-nw-trump-hydroxychloroquine-coronavirus-20200518-iht67oldlfhrnlju7dy4tkiad4-story.html So, is he full of hot air or is he actually taking the drug? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/18/podcasts/the-daily/economy-coronavirus-jobs-layoffs.html Also, should congress pass a bill for more money to save the economy? Jerome Powell seems to think so even if republicans in Congress don’t all think so. It makes me wonder if Trump will go after Biden saying there isn’t going to be money for his proposals even though Trump has added to the national deficit, going against what traditional conservatives believe.
  13. And you’re just noticing this now? Where have you been? Bipartisanship, moderates and reasonable people are no more. It can’t happen with Trump in office, his base believing in whatever facts they want to believe in and money in politicians coffers pulling the strings.
  14. I could put him on ignore, but someone needs to call him out on his BS and try to engage him to see if he responds. You’re right, people do take the bait when he incessantly posts over and over about how the governor took away his rights to church, access to coffee, access to masks and an unwillingness to do cloth masks, access to a haircut and his normal life. We could all ignore him, but it would take a team effort. And we could have to feel comfortable with some information being peddled without being responded to and challenged. It is a message board and in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, but in a larger picture, I respond to people from another train of thought to learn and at times, challenge them over what the truth is.
  15. Is this in regards to the post about voter fraud or about the video with the reporter being berated, because that video is related to coronavirus. Multiple opinions are out there about living during the virus and that is one train of thought. There will be a political twist with how each train of thought has opinions (see below) but I would argue it is still relevant to the discussion as long as it remains civil. https://www.wsj.com/articles/scenes-from-the-class-struggle-in-lockdown-11589498276?fbclid=IwAR3z-6LjFOx18LsI1UD038pO-IPagFbgFVq8LwPdJw8v6bj81M3hbn503IQ
  16. I also am concerned of what kind of tax increase we are going to expect to see without sales tax in the budget this year and all of the initiatives taken to fight COVID-19. Add in the unfunded pension liabilities the state has and we might be hit with some tax increases soon. I don’t mean to make it political, but that is something I am concerned about with what has happened. I don’t expect a bailout and instead believe there will be some sort of bankruptcy accelerated by COVID-19 and the state’s financial issues.
  17. I will wear masks to the grocery store and when I get my haircut, still will probably work from home until my employer gives us the green light to return to the office and consider going places safely. I am going to return as I think we should be returning - gradually and cautiously. I’ll also probably not go to any sporting events this year if we are allowed to go. It’s not worth risking my and my family’s health.

  19. You are absolutely ridiculous.
  20. If you want us to ignore him and Quin doesn’t want us talking politics, what else will we do??
  21. There is a balance that I would be okay with, but from what I have read from a former Illinois state legislator’s friends and supporters and from a conservative columnist’s readers and friends, there isn’t much balance that they want, at least in Illinois. It seems like they want to go 0-60 without many restrictions. Any restrictions are a violation of their civil liberties and so some think the governor should be recalled and things should open up the way they were. I’m not sure I would call that balance, but I could get on board with some of their ideas if they presented an actual plan to be debated. A targeted and gradual approach to re-opening makes sense, in my opinion.
  22. I appreciate your updates. Are tests only given to people with symptoms?
