TA likes ominous tweet: The trade Anderson thread
LittleHurtCG replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bat flips are fun. Baseball needs more excitement. I agree with you about TA flipping off the fans in Cleveland though. That was uncalled for and unprofessional. You are getting paid millions of dollars to play a kids game. Just tune the fans out and be a professional. -
Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M

Maybe Cubs are saving their bullets for Ohtani next offseason? That dude is gonna get straight up paid by someone. -
Merkin: Colas figures to be Sox 2023 RF
LittleHurtCG replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The outfield defense was so so bad last year. I'm not exactly sure what the front office was thinking there. Maybe they were thinking that Eloy and Vaughn and Sheets would have monster offense seasons to offset their dreadful defense? -
Agree 100%. Removing Hendricks from the bullpen makes it extremely weaker. Also, if closers are so fungible now and anyone can be one, then I'm not sure that Hendricks has that much value on the trade market anyways.

Merkin: Colas figures to be Sox 2023 RF
LittleHurtCG replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everyone should be extremely skeptical of whatever this organization thinks is good enough. These same clowns thought it was good enough to sign Manny Machado's best buddy and brother in law over 50 million guaranteed. They also thought it was good enough to run Vaughn and Sheets in the outfield the last couple years. Simply stated they are morons. Also, I would be very very skeptical of Conforto's medicals. Are even certain the guy can swing a baseball bat and generate loud contact? -

Merkin: Colas figures to be Sox 2023 RF

What kind of numbers are we expecting from this kid next year? He has less than 250 at bats above A ball. -
Agree 100%. Hubris and good old fashioned incompetence played a big role on why the Kimbrel option was picked up last offseason. The Sox traded a top 5 pick for Kimbrel. There wa no way they weren't going to pick up the option and admit thier massive blunder.

Oakland's return isn't that light. Way way too early to judge this trade. Too many people around here seem fixated on prospect rankings and treat them like gospel. Muller and Salinas are two dudes with live arms with massive upside.
-
That's not good. Especially since both guys are considered major depth pieces for the Sox in case of serious injury.
-
Sounds like Oakland was asking for MLB ready talent for the most part. Too bad they wanted nothing to do with Crochet, Burger, and Sheets. Murphy is a stud.
-
Are they? Reading conflicting reports on a lot of those guys
-
Why did Atlanta cut bait on Contreras so soon? This trade seems like a reaction to all the spending by Mets and Phillies.
-
Probably Crochet, Burger, and Sheets.
-
Like who?
-
That is true. However, that is also where the similiarities of the two rebuilds end.
-
I understand why the Sox would need to trade Hendricks if JR won't up the payroll. I just don't think it is a good idea. I also don't trust Rick Hahn to make a good trade. Hendricks value is also likely suppressed if he is as injured as you claim. Would he even pass a physical?
-
Feel bad for Oakland fans. Team is going to flee the Bay Area soon and they are likely to lose 100 plus games for the next 3 or 4 years.
-
Ha. 2022 isn't the only bad year Moncada has had. 2018 and 2020 werem't so hot either. Good thing the Sox didn't give up much for Moncada in the first place I suppose.
-
So are you saying that any guy can close? What do the Sox do if Lopez comes in and shits the bed as a closer?
-
Sox don't have the bullets to trade for Murphy. Also, what else do you expect Merkin to say? " Hey ladies and fellas, gather up the pitchforks and torches and get ready to storm the castle at 35th and Shileds cause the Sox are done with their offseason moves"
-
Let's just keep Hendricks and not put Lopez in the closers role. The Sox tried something like this with Matt Thornton way back when and it didn't work out well. What are all the data geeks saying about closers these days? Is it a job that any pitcher can do and putting big $$$ into a lockdown closer is no longer the savvy play?
-
Ha. Pretty sure all of White Sox nation would take the fruits of the Cubs rebuild over whatever it is that the Sox are doing. I guess Houston is the only juggernaut in recent baseball history?
-
Not sure you can trust Reylo in a position he has never done before. That is usually called setting your employees up to fail.
-
So who is your closer if you are trading away Hendricks? Does Graveman have experience as a closer?
