  1. Never should have fired Ricky Renteria. Hahn was a loyal employee and a yes man for a long long time. He should have been fired before the Sale trade was ever made, but good on him for getting a nice fat paycheck for another 7 years. Good for him, terrible for Sox fans.
  2. The rationale for not trading Cease at the deadline last year was because there would be more suitors available in the Winter, correct? Now we are a few weeks from Spring Training and the rationale is to wait until the trade deadline as teams will be more desperate for pitching then? Makes no sense to me.
  3. Congestion is going to be insane down there during peak summer time when there is both a Sox game and something going on at Soldier Field/Northerly/Museum Campus. It will be very interesting to see how they pivot and market a ballpark that is currently very car friendly to one that is gonna be utilizied mainly via public transit.
  4. The closest Metra station to the 78 location is almost a mile away. I suspect they will try to put a Metra stop closer to the stadium if it actually gets built. The location is great if you are using CTA though. The new location will require a total reframing of how many commute to a White Sox game, especially many suburban families with young kids.
  5. There isn't going to be a ton of space for parking at the 78 site. The 78 site is not in a good location to accomodate heavy automobile traffic. The location is pretty darn close to Soldier Field actually. Getting to Soldier Field on game day sucks. Tailgating in a sea of parking lots isn't going to happen at the 78 location most likely. It will be very interesting to see what happens here if the stadium actually gets built.
  6. https://econreview.berkeley.edu/the-economics-of-sports-stadiums-does-public-financing-of-sports-stadiums-create-local-economic-growth-or-just-help-billionaires-improve-their-profit-margin/ Studies seem to show that there is short term economic impact but the taxpayers usually always lose in the long term.
  7. Yeah good luck with this. Jerry is gonna find out soon enough how broke the City is. Johnson is also going to get roasted by his base if he gets on board with massive tax payer subisidies for a sports franchise valued at billions of dollars. Times have changed big time since Mr. Reinsdorf fleeced the city and state for New Comisky Park.
  8. Nobody seems to know. I don't think Jerry is planning to still be the owner once the stadium is actually built so it won't be his problem.
  9. Lamar is better than Fields for sure. However, Lamar has proven that he is not a big game player and now the Ravens are pretty much stuck with him. He is gonna lose speed and the ability to run more and more each year as well. The Chiefs blizted Lamar a bunch yesterday which forced him to make quick decisions. It was also pretty crazy that Baltimore only ran the handed the ball off to a running back like 6 times the entire game. Everything lined up pretty well this year for them and they flat out blew it.
  10. Little game Lamar Jackson shows up once again in the playoffs. KC and Mahomes didn't score a single point in the scond half and this dude and Baltimore couldn't take advantadge. Bears gotta take Caleb Williams and hope he is 95% as good as Mahomes. These mobile qbs without pocket presence like Fields and Lamar are not how you win super bowls.
  11. I think you greatly underestimate the current incompetence at both City Hall and the Sox Executive Office.
  12. What an epic bust this cat was. Too bad Rick Hahn only cared about prospect rankings when the rebuild trades of 2016-2018 were made. There were red flags about Moncada from the jump. The dude was eating a box of twinkies a day and struck out like 80% of the time during his initial cup of coffee with Boston.
  13. Have there been any rumors about trading Cease back to the Cubs? The Cubs have a pretty good farm system and are in win now mode with the hiring of Counsell. Seems like something could get done there.
  14. Any chance Pitt would give up their first rounder for Fields?
  15. Said it before but this kid is the Ken Griffey Junior of wide receivers. As can't miss as they come.
  16. Agreed. Although I think it is highly unlikely that the Bears take Maye. I just can't see them using another top 3 pick on a quarterback from North Carolina.
  17. 100% this. Yesterday was a bad day to be a Bears fan. Teams are out there winning playoff games with rookie quarterbacks and without being surrounded by a ton of weapons on offense. CJ Stroud #1 receiver is Nico Collins. Jordan Love #1 receiver is Romeo Dobbs. DJ Moore is better than both those dudes hands down. There is absolutely no way the Bears run Justin Fields out there for another "developmental year". They will not gamble on being in the same exact spot this time next year and without the #1 pick. They passed on CJ Stroud which is looking like a major fail at this point. Let's hope they get it right this year and that Mr. Williams is a stud.
  18. This is the question I keep asking. It seems evaluating and drafting college quarterbacks is a bit like stepping up to the roulette wheel. Put your stack on black and close your eyes and hope for the best.
  19. No manager in the history of baseball was going to win anything significant with the roster that TLR inherited. TLR was a disaster, but the turning point of the Sox rebuild happened when they failed to land Bryce Harper.
  20. They are bringing in a new cooridnator to work with Caleb Williams.
  21. I believe this is the plan. 2024 is going to be all about the progess of the QB they draft. 2025 will be the make it or break it year for every single person in the organization including Kevin Warren.
  22. They aren't trading the #1 pick two years in a row. No way they take a North Carolina QB at #1 either after the Trubisky debacle. The Caleb Williams show is coming to town!
  23. A new OC likely means the Caleb Williams show is coming to town! Bears gotta find a way to trade down and grab Harrison Junior as well. Williams and the Ken Griffey Junior of wide receivers gonna be awesome to watch every Sunday!
  24. How come nobody can accuratley predict if Caleb Williams is gonna be a franchise QB or not? Is it that hard to evaulate college quarterbacks now? It seems like in recent history everyone knew that dudes like Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, and Joe Burrow were going to be sure fire stud quarterbacks. Also, after watching last night college football playoff I'm staying far far away from Michael Penix and JJ McCarthy if I'm an NFL GM. Penix can carve up defenses when he has 7 or 8 seconds to stand in the pocket but folded like a cheap suit once he faced a big boy defense. McCarthy doesn't have the arm strength or accuraccy to be anything over than a career backup.
