I live in Iowa City about a block away from Iowa Ave., where most of the worst damage took place. One of the tornadoes passed right over my house, ripped down one of the trees in our yard, and touched down a block away, leaving my house miraculously unscathed. Across the entire town cars are flipped over, walls are knocked out, and debris is covering the streets. Its really eerie seeing pictures of places I walk by everyday destroyed. The power is still out in parts of town and class is cancelled for the university students. Where was I for all of this? I drove home to Chicago for the weekend to catch a Sox game.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) That's the one thing that bothers me about Comcast....Didn't they or shouldn't they have known beforehand what the Sox plans' were gonna be for the Banner ceremony if they were going to carry live? I knew after watching the divisional montage when they were gonna drop the curtain on the following banners, couldn't a TV director/producer have figured that out as well?!? They showed part of the first montage but then nothing else. It looked like they were having technical problems picking up the video feed, kind of like they did during the WS rally last October.

I temporarily stopped shaving during last weekend the sox were playing the twins out of laziness. Now I have a full beard because I'm afraid of shaving it and having the sox fall back down to earth.

Kenny Rogers sends cameraman to the hospital
Steaming Willy Harris replied to Balta1701's topic in The Diamond Club
what a dickhead! As a future member of the media all my sympathies go to the media. Regardless of how Kenny Rogers may feel about how the media has portrayed him he has no right to assault a member of the media, and especially not a camera man who had nothing to do with anything and was just doing he was told to do. I think they have the right to and should press charges on Rogers. Cameramen rely heavily on their physical ability in order to do their job, a camera may not look it but the thing is heavy as hell. An injury would prevent him from doing his job, just like it would for an athlete or physical laborer. What also upsets me is that Rogers tried to destroy the camera he was holding. He may not realize this but cameras, especially those used in major productions like baseball games cost around $500,000 a piece. He might as well be taking a crow bar to a ferarri because thats about how expensive a professional camera is. f*** Kenny Rogers, what a classless asshole, i hope his broken finger falls off and he never pitches again -
to Jeff Clement I've known of him since he was a freshman at USC. I know a bunch of guys who are friends with him who went to high school with him in Marshalltown, Iowa. Those guys are sox haters and like to bash the sox every chance they get. It would only be fitting if their bud ends up in the south side.

Its too bad that I am not in the communications study program. I'm tempted to show up to this class during the first day of the semester with a buddy or two just to see what its all about and to see how few girls and how many porn fiend looking guys would be signed up for the class.

Steaming Willy Harris replied to SAVVY18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When i was at soxfest i had Scott Podsednik and Ben Davis sign my organ doner witness card. When i asked them to do it they both looked at me like i was nuts, though i think they thought it was funny. Kinda ironic the sox are doing it on friday -
I'm in a keeper league which lets you keep 6 players and im really struggling to figure out who the 6th player i will keep will be. Here are the guys im keeping for sure Vlad Guerrero Miguel Tejada Randy Johnson Scott Rolen Carl Crawford then the rest of the guys worth mentioning, really tough decision Paul Konerko Steve Finley Magglio Ordonez Ivan Rodriguez Rich Hardin Josh Beckett AJ Burnett Joe Nathan Guillermo Mota Shingo Takatsu Octavio Dotel Troy Percieval This is a really tough decision, im leaning towards keeping Hardin, but its really really tempting to keep Pauly, same goes with Magglio What do you all think?

Keeper League Keepers
Steaming Willy Harris replied to Heads22's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm in another keeper league on my own and i was just wondering what everyones opinions on keeper leagues was. Honestly im not a big fan of them, it seems like the teams are the same every year. By the way in my keeper league should i keep Rich Harden or Pudge. -
What is actually sad is that we had to read about this guy in my Abnormal Psychology class at school.

Cheeky Justin Miller's body can be bought. The Blue Jays pitcher was working out with his buddy Billy Koch, the White Sox closer, this winter when Koch hatched a deal $1000 if Miller got "I love Billy Koch" tattooed on his forehead. Koch is a known instigator of such mischief. And this was Miller, after all, the guy MLB has forced to wear long sleeves so his copious tats don't distract batters. "I wouldn't get a tattoo on my forehead," Miller says, "but on my butt? Sure." So now, in large lettering that spans his right buttock are the words "I [heart] Billy Koch." Koch threw in another $500 for Miller's wife. "She'll have to see that her whole life," he says. Miller isn't bummed. In fact, he may expand "My left cheek's for sale too" Billy might not be able to close out games too well anymore, but at least someone has a tattoo with his name on their butt.

He seems to be missing something important. Oh thats right now i remember, he is missing the chest and nipple sculpted breastplate from the Joel Schumacker Batman movies.

There is no reason to keep Kelly Dransfeldt, a career minor leaguer on the roster. He may have had a few clutch hits in the last week but there is no reason to believe a guy who hit somewhere around .250 in the minors with no power could consistantly perform at a major league level. Willy Harris on the other hand, despite being a fairly s***ty player so far this season (in my opinion) is still an asset to the team because of his speed. That saying regardless of how hot Juan Uribe is right now he will most likely remain the teams utility player behind Jose and Willy starting at short and 2nd simply because he can play more positions than Willy Harris, who can only play second and center. Uribe will probably see increased playing time due to his performance though and Kelly Dransfeldt will be back in Charlotte where he belongs.

Forshadowing perhaps, that we will sign a 52 year old to play the Pinch hitter position for only 1.6 milion dollars a year?

I didnt think Iowa did that bad really in recruiting, actually the class they had this year was ranked higher by Rivals.com than any other Ferentz era class. I'm pretty confident that regardless of class rank Iowa will still be solid down the road as long as Ferentz is still around, which he should be as long as his son Brian still plays here (three more years if im not mistaken). Having Bonecrusher is awesome, and i was real pissed about Adrian Arrington, i really thought he would come here.
