sox draft 18 in next years draft....angels draft 12.....yankees (would have) draft 28 the sox draft looks like this.... first round...18 compensation round...2 picks second round...12, 18, and 28 third round...18 so the sox should have 7 picks ( depending on how many teams draft in the compensation round)
-
i think the sox should make those 20 1/2 price coupons more available( it cost $20 and came with 2 coupons for a free seat in any of the basic seating in the park)...last year my sister's friend got those.......but they werent made public like they should have been, advertise them more in those gay commercials that they always show also, they should make a certain percent of the profit from of those go to a charity, and alot more people would buy them and go to the games, then those people buy beer and other food/drinks and have fun....they go again and bring other people since its a reasonalbe admission price

its just an idea to throw out there...i mean it would be nice
-
it just came to mind since mulder was on espn news, and i realized he was from chicago... if hes so money strapped...why did he get kotsay (not very good) and his 15 million dollar contract??? if not maggs then maybe Lee???
-
trade maggs for mark mulder straight up...oakland has a ton of pitchers and they could use more hitting...and then the sox could sign Mulder long term ( he is from around here, south Holland???) just an idea, wut do u think?

Compensation for Colon and Gordon
kramer99 replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
i'm hoping we fill 4 weaknesses....we need more starting pitchers (can never have to man of them), catchers ( we have no prospects in the minors), speed (we need more speed in the minors), and shortstop ( competition for Valido) what do u guys think?? -
Compensation for Colon and Gordon
kramer99 replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
its good to have it spread out because of the money, now that we have so many(top 100) picks, with the first 2 picks the best players available...then we can fill weak postions in our system with good talent ( catching, more pitching, speed, shortstop)....this up coming draft (and last years) could make our minor league system have more depth and produce good prospects BTW....sheffield wasnt offered arbitration, so the braves dont get any draft picks for him -
danny hit 96 a few times last year...dont forget , they always said the gun at Comiskey was slow ( Hawk ). 88-92 is what beuhrle always throws, garland usually is around 91-93 and wright is between 92-96 wright definatly throws faster than beurhle ( who is 88-92 )
-
man, all i know is that danny has 3 good pitches, a great fastball ( and it is 94mph), a really good curveball, and an average change-up. he had one problem, NO CONTROL, and i mean what so ever. put him in the Pen and he will impress. I'll never forget when he got Cotts out of that huge jam when they were playin the angels (bases loaded, less than 2 outs, and he held them to 1 or no runs) thats damn impressive!

on the whitesox official web sight, they only talked about offering 5 possible free agent arbitration cases, none of them included gordon. its not too late for the sox to offer him arbitration, is it?? or is it already obvious that they offered him arbitration?? thanks
-
just a wacky idea... sox trade: valentin, Konerko, and Lee LA trades:izturis, Perez, Greene, and Mota this breaks up all right middle of the order, get a solid young SS, improve our starting staff, keep Maggs, and help out our bullpen maybe we could give some money and that would give us a solid prospect as well*
-
where did u find that out, cuz i thought it was that but sombody here told me that it goes by team record
-
it goes by team records with type A free agents in both the sandwich round and with the signing team's draft picks...then i think type B fre agents are added into the mix by their record, but always pick later than all the type A free agents. Sox record last year:86-76 LA record:85-77 for that one win, LA gets the first round draft pick and the sox would get the second rounder, the braves get way back in the third round (as of 12/2) but all 3 teams get supplemental round picks ( as long as the players were offered arbitration) but maybe the sox could get a first round draft pick from anothre team for Colon or who knows, if we are lucky, Robbie(if we dont re-sign him)
-
first, its pretty pathetic of us to get all excited over a small deal........but.....we are white sox fans, so we have to talk about this deal like it were equal to the Schilling/Sexson deals... Second, i think this means Tony G. is a goner Third, this is good cuz he young, hes got potential, and he can play shortstop fourth, this is the start of the whitsox roster moves Hopefully, no more Koch, Valentin, and Konerko!!! and just hopefull thinking...NO MORE THOMAS!
-
if the team is below 15 then u would get that teams second round pick plus a compensation round pick.....if the team is above 15, then u get the teams first round pick plus a compensation round pick...... But....that team may sign 2 type A free agents, and they only have 1 original 1st round pick, then it goes by worst-to-best record to see which team gets the first rounder and which team gets the second rounder. Compensation round picks are arranged in worst-to-best order also, so the sox would probably pick in the middle of that round.
-
aight thanks, so the sox would get the first round selection, i thought it had to do with how good the FA was....but this makes more sense
-
my fault, i didnt put it in the green text......Strom Thurmon was the 100 year old senator that died a lttle while ago....it was suppose to be sarcastic but i screwd up
-
if graffy signs with Boston, is it possible to get a draft pick for him or no, cuz hes one guy that we cant let leae empty handed?????
-
Billy koch for Strom Thurmon
-
im guessing this means the sox would be suck with the Yankee's second round draft pick ( if KW offers him arbitation) since i assume the braves offered Sheffield it and hes better than Flash....but i guess at least we would get a supplement round pick. How does that work, if a team signs 2 Type A FA's that were offered arbitration...who gets the teams 1st round pick?
-
lee is over rated, .271 average isnt great, 31 homers is good but who the hell cares about stolen bases in a firstbaseman? thomas hit 40 homeruns and hit in the .270's. all the cubs got is a player in between frank thomas and paul konerko but with speed But anyway, choi is a good pick up for Florida cuz they drop payroll and get a prospect with MLB experience. I am interested to see who else the cubs gave up, probaby a pitching prospect?
-
Not only could they accept it, but if they do, the sox could always trade them half-way through the season if they arent in contention. My hopeful guess is that KW is making a big deal out of "stopping all negotiations" to try and make it seem like he hasn't/wont offer arbitration, in hopes that a team will sign them before they find out they were offered arbitration. Hopefully the sox offer both arbitration and both turn it down...im 99% possitive that colon wouldnt accept arbitration...and im better than 90% sure that Gordon will get a better offer than arbitration and wont accept it.
-
Any player can be offered arbitration by their previous team as long as its before december 7 or as long as they are not signed by another team before they are offered it. And im not sure KW will take the chance on offering Flash Arbitration, it seems like KW is too stubborn to put any kind of other offer on the table. I hope KW offers both these guys arbitration, because the sox desperately need more decent prospects in their Minor League System.
-
does this likely mean KW wont offer Flash Arbitration??? and will he likely offer Colon Arbitration??....if we dont get any extra draft picks i will be extremely pissed Will he offer it to them or not? By the way, i think the phillies will sign him as a RH Set up man

iztris is definately not a #2 hitter, he would be a #8 or #9...so just switch izturis and rowand or maybe plug in reed for rowand.so, rowand/reed/harris at #2 and izturis at #8
