  1. Gonzo starting at SS today, Baldwin slides over to 2B.
  2. Gowens had a no hitter going into the 7th today. He finished with 7 IP, 1 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB. 11 K. Iriarte with a similarly impressive 7 IP, 4H, 3ER, 1 BB, 13 K. Career high K's for both guys. Second straight outing of 7IP and 10+ K's for Gowens. Excellent day for farm pitching overall, seems like a round of promotions is imminent.
  3. Thorpe settled in now, 10 straight retired. Baldwin just gave him a lead with a solo shot. Schultz sticks to his 4 IP routine. 3H, 2ER, 4K 1BB on 40/58. Knights won behind an 8th inning go ahead HR from Colas. Worked a full count, then hit one 107mph 420 ft.
  4. 0 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, 10 K for Stivors in 4 rehab appearances. He should be headed back to Bham soon.
  5. Corbin Carroll down to a .526 OPS (.188 AVG). Weird to see. Also, Jung Ho Lee is out for the year for the Giants, and the Dodgers just optioned Outman (.147/.250/.516). NL West bidding war for Pham at the deadline? We know the Padres were already interested...
  6. Bush's season ERA down to 2.09. Adler seems to be settling in to AA, 4.1 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 8K since his rough first outing. Cousin has given up just 1 run in 5 games/6 IP out of the pen. Barons team ERA is down to 2.63, the lowest in their league and second lowest in ALL of the minors.
  7. Grant Taylor hitting 99 in an 11 pitch first inning for Kanny ?
  8. Nah, he just got pulled for pitch count. Got squeezed into a couple of full count walks, then a couple of full count hits.
  9. Lucas Gordon finished with 6IP, 1ER, 1H, 3BB, 4K. Gave up a solo shot to lead off the sixth. Bush went 5.1IP, 6H, 2ER, 2BB, 9K. He was pulled with two runners on in the sixth. They scored on a HR from the next batter. Hoopii-Tuionetoa flashed some nice stuff in his Barons debut despite the HR, got swinging Ks on the other two batters he faced.
  10. Schultz done after 4IP, 1ER, 3H, 5K, 0BB. The run was a little unlucky: leadoff double, throwing error, grounder through the drawn in IF. Pitch count was only 60, but they seem set on 4 innings for now. Lucas Gordon looks fantastic for Kanny tonight, he's through 5 without giving up a hit. Bush is also shoving, 7K through 4 scoreless.
  11. AZ bats were hot today. Wolkow: 4-5 with 2 doubles Burrowes: 3-5 with a BB Mogollon: 1-3 with a 2B and 3 BB Every starter got a hit, 19 hits (and 7 walks) total. They win 13-5.
  12. Did we break the Cards? Goldy is 0-27 in May with 10Ks and 3BB (.000/.100/.000).
  13. Burger is down to .192/.238/.342. TA is at .197/.234/.221. Both were 0-4 in the Marlins loss today. But Declan Cronin has been excellent, so Miami is 1/3 on former Sox at least. Elsewhere, Johnny Cueto is working his way back: Middleton starts a rehab assignment for the Cards next week. Santos had another setback and is now not expected back until July:
  14. Burrowes? He's on the roster but rehabbing in AZ. Other than that, they're waiting on reinforcements from ACL and the draft. Speaking of which, Mogollon finally got his first hit today. It was a 3 run HR scoring Burrowes and Wolkow (both singles).
  15. The Dash pitch a shutout led by 6IP 2H 1BB 6K from Juan Carela. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take a rotation spot in Bham after the inevitable promotion of one of those guys. It was the inverse story for the Barons who lost 0-3. Couldn't string anything together on offense.
  16. Colson adds a 2 RBI triple. Hopefully he can show some signs of life before he gets dropped from the Top 100.
  17. Scored Chappy, who led off with a double.
  18. 106mph double to right for Colson in his first AB.
  19. Pito might not have a job to come back to...
  20. 6.2 IP 1ER 3H 1BB 6K for Nastrini. The run was on a solo shot in the first, he basically cruised for most of the start. Colas got pulled after getting caught snoozing off 1B. I guess he might have tweaked something trying to get back to the bag, but I lean towards an intentional benching for the lack of focus. Eder went 5IP 1ER 6H 2BB 6K. Three singles in the first to score the run. He mostly settled down after that, but did have some deeper counts (60/86 through 5).
