Jorge Lopez has had himself a day. First, this temper tantrum: He then was misquoted as saying that he's playing for "the worst team in the whole f-ing MLB": And now, apparently, is set to be DFA'd as a result:
-
Fun fact from CB on the Barons broadcast: After throwing just 1 shutout all last season, the Barons have already thrown 7 this year. They had a league leading and franchise record setting ERA last year, but currently the lowest team ERA of any MiLB affiliate.
-
Cousin strikes out the side in relief, his stuff looks great out of the pen.
-
My guy Mason Adams goes 6IP, 0ER, 3H, 2BB, 7K. Barons up 4-0 heading into the 7th.
-
McDaniel left Kanny on a high note, he's making his A+ debut tonight. But the team overall has been much more fun to watch since getting some offensive reinforcements, they are 10-2 in their last 12 and have a +94 run diff.
-
Iriarte finishes the game with 5IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 5K. Barons win 7-1. Gonzo 2-5 with a double and 2RBI. Elko 1-4 with a HR and 3K. Veras 3-5 with a double. Ellis stole a pair of bases after a single. His 30 SBs are second in the minors.

Schultz' first AA inning: strikeout, 2-3 groundout right in front of the plate, strikeout
-
Kanny was up 11-0 after 3 innings in game one, so they're facing position players for the rest of the game. They added 4 more in the 4th, so maybe they can beat their 22 run franchise record even though it's only a 7 inning game. At the very least, they'll add to their already league leading run differential.
-
3Ks looking for LRJ makes me suspect they're just having him track pitches or something. Also, Iriarte should be piggybacking Schultz for Bham tonight. Wouldn't want to be an opposing batter (but that's true basically every game with the Barons).

Despite not making the most of their chances, Barons chased Misiorowski (Brewers #1/MLB #23) early after 4.1IP, 2ER, 8H, 3BB, 3K. It's the most hits he's allowed this season. Thorpe went 6IP, 1ER, 3H, 1BB, 4K. The run was a solo shot. His ERA stays at 1.50, his record improves to 7-1. Gonzo goes 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI. Baldwin 2-4 with a BB. Quero 0-3 but 2 BB including one with the bases loaded to force in a run. Turner has been off to a slow start, but he was 3-5 with a 2B today. This was Gonzo's first professional start at 2B. He looked comfortable, made all the routine plays and started off a pair of 4-6-3's. Barons win 7-2.

BA highlighting the Barons:
-
Hoopii-Tuionetoa (Grossman trade) pitched a scoreless 2K inning in relief of Bush, but Caleb Freeman blew a 4-1 lead in the 9th by giving up 4 straight hits including a double and a triple. He followed it up with 3 straight strikeouts to strand the winning run at 3rd and keep it 4-4 to force extras. Elko knocked in the free runner with a single, and Jordan Mikel (excellent name for a Baron) got the save for a 5-4 win. Gonzo was 1-4 with a walk. Baldwin 2-5 with a double and HR. Elko maybe starting to heat up, 2-4 with a walk. The Barons have the best record in AA.
-
Ky Bush: 7IP, 2H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K. Only 80 pitches, lots of soft contact outs.
-
Good bounceback outing for Pallette: 4IP, 1ER (solo shot), 2BB, 6K. Dash lead thanks to Zavala:
-
Great starts for Schweitzer (7IP, 1ER, 1BB, 7K) and Adams (6.1IP, 1ER, 1BB, 6K) today. Both runs were solo shots. Jake Peppers ('23 9th round) has been off to a solid start too. He got a career high 7Ks today in a 6IP/2ER start. He came out for the 7th, but was pulled after putting two on with no outs. Surprisingly efficient pitch count (81) despite 5 walks. Held his velo throughout. In the Barons' pen, Adisyn Coffey is down to a 0.56 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with just 1ER through 16IP this season. Hope he stays a leverage guy so broadcasters can make "Coffey is for closers" jokes.
-
Ole Miss boys having fun in extras.
-
Gonzo is 3-5 after hitting his first Barons HR. He also had a double earlier in the game. 6-10 to start his time in AA. Barons have a 6-3 lead in extras.
-
Promising player, hope he makes it to the majors.
-
Gonzo's 3rd hit of the game is a 99mph single to RF.
-
McDaniel looks like he's auditioning for Schultz' spot in the WS rotation. 7IP, 0ER, 2H, 0BB, 11K on just 80 pitches tonight. His last outing was 7IP, 9K, 0ER. 20 strikeouts and no walks over 14 scoreless is pretty, pretty good.
