Sosa go ahead 3 run HR. He also crushed a double earlier.

? Can't wait to see Maximo Martinez. He was more highly regarded than Batista IIRC, and Batista has been very good.

WS wins another walkoff. Zavala reached on an error, stole 2nd, and then got 3rd on a WP. Gonzo hit a grounder towards 1B and they missed the catch at the plate. Another sweep for the farm. Help is coming?

Thorpe is probably done at 87 pitches (59 strikes). Didn't have his sharpest stuff today, but that doesn't hurt as much when almost no one squares it up anyway. 6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3K. Raises his ERA by 50% from 0.50 to 0.75 ?

Chappy ties it up for the Dash with his first HR of the season.

High energy/makeup player, doesn't have a big carrying tool but is good at a little bit of everything and playable almost everywhere. Switch hitting line drive guy with a solid approach. He was doing well enough as a utility guy in Kanny, then took off after being promoted to WS as the everyday SS. The bat hasn't looked back since, even after another promotion to AA this year. Probably not a shortstop longterm, but the org is high on him overall.

Kanny wins in a blowout, Knights win in a comeback, Barons win a nailbiter, and WS wins a walkoff. Fun little variety showing. Gonzo has been on base in every game this season, adding to a quiet streak of 21 straight to finish last season for a total of 36. Would be cool to have a new guy go for the record every year.

Bush finished with 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 7 K. The Guy McDudes were also pretty solid. McDaniel had 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 8 K. The one run was a solo shot. McDougal went 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 9 K. He was cruising until his last inning where he gave up the walk, 4 of 5 hits, and all 3 runs. The opposing starter was Adam Hackenberg's brother Drue. Sosa just hit a go ahead HR in Charlotte with 2 strikes and 2 outs in the 9th off of old friend Ryan Burr. It's his second HR of the game.

RBI double for Quero in his first AB.
-
And Eddie Park returns to Kanny. Good to see these teams start getting some offensive reinforcements.
-
Calvin Harris arrives in WS!

Quero leads the Southern League in OPS (1.124), SLG (.698), RBI (19), and HR (5). He leads AA overall in RBI.

Quero walkoff bomb with 2 on and 2 outs, Barons win 4-1. They tied it earlier in the inning on a Neslony 2B > Duke Ellis PR > Womack single.

Surprised to see Adams get the hook already, but I guess some relievers might need work with all the games getting shortened to 7 innings this weekend. 5IP, 1ER, 4H, 1BB, 8K. The run was on a first pitch fastball that got ambushed for a solo shot. Gil Luna on in relief, walks the first batter but immediately gets him with his patented pickoff move.

Sucks that Eder couldn't leave in line for the W. Did a good job missing bats today. 4.2IP, 2 ER, 5 H (no XBH, two IF singles), 4 BB, 8 K (his high since the trade). Gowens finished with the longest (and best) start of his short pro career: 6IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 8 K. I can see them being aggressive with him due to his age, maybe a replacement for Thorpe/Iriarte in the Barons rotation after a promotion.

Kath just hit his 3rd HR of the week. Still only 21...
-
Zavala gives WS the lead with his second double of the day.

Riley Gowens (Bummer trade) looks great today, 8K through 4IP.

Game 2 rained out for the Barons. They'll try for two again tomorrow. Kanny was on the verge of a 3-2 win, but Billy Seidl had a leadoff single score on a steal > WP > groundout. Because he's still an absolute madman, he stranded the free runner in the 10th and then struck out the side in the 11th to keep it 3-3. Unfortunately, Kanny can't score their free runner either and the game is suspended for weather going into the 12th. The Knights also went to extras, where they gave up 5 to lose 11-6. They could have used a Seidl. Dash scored 6 unanswered runs late to win 6-4. Schultz gave up 2 on a pair of walks, a wild pitch, and a double in the first. He retired the next 10 in a row, but only goes 4IP. Gonzo finished 1-4 after hustling out an IF single vs. a LHP. He also had his 6th walk in 5 games, and hit one to the track in RF after a solid 9 pitch battle. Kath hit a 2 run HR, his 3rd of the season, and also a lucky 2RBI chopper through the IF to knock in 4 RBI total. Adler (0 ERA) got his 3rd save. Zavala had the day off.
