  1. Drew McDaniel left early with an apparent injury. Seemed visually like he was indicating towards his side, but Gameday says ankle.
  2. Patino with an interesting showing in Charlotte. Walks the leadoff guy in the first. Gets three outs on weak contact to follow. Walks the leadoff guy in the second. Weak flyout, K, pick off to end the inning (nice throw to 1B by Lee). Walks the leadoff guy in the third. GIDP, BB, pop out. Walks the bases loaded in the forth. Allows a run on a sac fly, a single reloads the bases, but he gets another GIDP to strand them. 4IP, 1ER, 1H, 1K...7BB. Sac fly and single were the only balls hit hard. For what it's worth, it's an ABS day in Charlotte today so no benefit from framing, but a good number of the misses weren't particularly close anyway. Knights lead 3-1 on a Sanchez 3R HR.
  3. Elko with another oppo HR
  4. Mario Camilletti promoted to WS and activated today.
  5. Move over Quero, there's a new youngest catcher in AA.
  6. Eder gives up a cheap run in the 3rd. Batter reaches on an IF single on a very close play. He was picked off and CS for the final out, but the ump called him safe. Montgomery seemed pretty sure he got him, and he looked out to me at game speed, but no replay in AA obviously. He scored from second on a single. 5Ks for him through 3IP. The pick off play:
  7. 2 strike, 2 out, 2RBI game tying single for Nishida. He's very fun.
  8. Wonder if they'll try to get Schultz some innings in AFL. Montgomery is presumably still going for some extra reps. Maybe Ramos too with his missed time.
  9. Comas provided some much needed innings for Kannapolis in Schultz' absence. He does finally give up his first ER on a solo shot, but was solid otherwise. 4IP, 1ER/HR, 3H, 0BB, 3K. Strike thrower. Guess I spoke tooo soon. They try to squeeze another inning from Comas, and a second run scores on a single, balk, single sequence so he finishes with 5IP, 2ER. Longest outing of the season for him by far.
  10. He's back ? Gave up 0ER over a handful of ACL appearances.
  11. Bush had given up just one hit through 5IP...Then the 6th inning started with a HR and a single. The next "single" probably should have been at least one out, but it took a weird hop and Ramos couldn't corral it. Another HR clears the bases, Barons trail 4-2. Line looks worse than he pitched, 5IP+, 4ER (all in the 6th), 5H, 1BB, 6K.
  12. Montgomery triples and scores when a shallow fly from Ramos finds grass.
  13. Popeye gets the Barons on the board by being a menace on the basepaths. Single on a liner to LF, strolls into second for a steal, dodges the tag to steal third on a much closer play, and then scores on a FC grounder up the 1B line by beating out the throw home.
  14. DJ hits ANOTHER HR. 4th in 4 games.
  15. Quick 1-2-3 for Bush. Weak foul pop, K, grounder to 3B.
  16. Pallette almost got let down by his defense when two consecutive errors let a 1 out single reach 3rd...but then an excellent throw on a would be sac fly cut down the runner at the plate to end the inning. Over in WS, my personal sleeper SP prospect Mason Adams just struck out the side in the 2nd. All swinging.
  17. Nishida assigned to Kannapolis today.
  18. Angels just turned a triple play to get out of first and third, no outs in the 9th of a tied game. ....and they lost. In a game where Shohei hit a slam to put them up 5-1 early, and their first round pick got his first hit, and they turn a huge TRIPLE PLAY. They leave in the guy who got bailed out in the 9th in for the 10th even as he was stumbling off the mound and at 40+ pitches. He gives up 3. Angels go 1-2-3 in their half.
  19. The Barons pitching staff is not having a great day today. They haven't struggled like this in a bit.
  20. Another good start for Carela. 6IP, 1ER, 6H, 2BB, 3K. Plenty of weak contact, other than the solo shot that produced a run. Trainers came out for a look when he seemed to roll his ankle fielding a comebacker, but he stayed in. Johan Dominguez also continues to look nice in his Charlotte return. 4IP, 1ER, 4H, 1BB, 3K. His run was also on a solo shot, and it was his first ER surrendered in his 3 starts at AAA (10IP total). 4IP is his longest outing for the season.
  21. Elko just crushed another one oppo ? Quero nabbed a runner at the plate trying to advance from 3rd on a WP to help Thompson out of a jam in the previous half inning. Maybe more of mental mistake by the runner, but I just want to point out again that he's noticeably quick to recover balls that sneak away from him.
