I remember the trade being declared a loss a few days in because Mena hit 95 on a ST gun for Arizona.

Kopech w/LA 5 games, 5 IP, 8 Ks, no walks. ERA 0.00, 1-0.

Kopech in his last 5 games with the Sox: 5.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1H, 1BB, 8K and an immaculate inning. It's almost like he just has good stuff. -
Benny and LRJ traded bats.

Knights got walked off after a two out rally to tie things up in the 9th. Montgomery vs. velocity has been a topic of discussion. He nailed this 98.5mph fastball for a 106.8mph EV single: DeLoach extended his on base streak to 11 games. He's been on in 27 of his last 28. The most important guys (Colson, Ramos, Elko, Quero, DeLoach, Colas) all got on base at least once with 5 hits and 7 walks between them, but all of the hits were singles and only Colas got more than 1 hence the low score.

Barons won 9-5. Gonzo 1-2 with a 2B and 3 BB. Veras heating up? 3-5 with a 2B today and on a 5 game hitting streak (9-21 with 3 BB, a double, and a HR. Gladney staying hot. 2-4 with a 2B today, and .412/.474/.824 through his first 4 games at AA. Eric Adler finally ended a 9 AB Christian Moore on base streak with a K. Kinda expecting an AFL assignment for Adler.

Knights win 11-5. Should probably start seeing some of these guys in a week. Ramos 2-5 with a 2B Quero 3-5, DeLoach 2-5 Elko 2-4 with 2 HR and a BB Montgomery 1-5 with a 3B and 2 RBI Colas 1-5 with a HR. Foster had a perfect 2K inning in his rehab. McGough (Eloy trade) put up another 2 IP scoreless. He's given up 1BB, 1 single, and no runs since the trade (3G/6IP) Coffey threw a perfect 2K 9th. Rooting for him to make it as a leverage guy because "coffey is for closers".

Elko hit another ?

Mason had some uncharacteristic control struggles in his AAA debut. He went 3+ IP, got pulled after a leadoff walk in the 4th with a possible injury. Nothing that seemed too visibly apparent, but he left with a trainer. Schultz was mostly Schultzy. 3.1IP, 3H (all singles), 1ER, 2BB, 5K. 64 pitches. The run came on a HBP > WP > single in the 4th.

Knights are cooking. 12 hits through 4, HRs from Elko and Colas. They lead 9-2.
-
Payton single, Ramos RBI double, Quero single, DeLoach RBI single, Montgomery 2 RBI triple for four runs in the first inning.

Dash won 5-2. 5 runs on just 6 hits (no XBH) because they walked a bunch (7BB) and ran all over the place (8SB/1CS) Zavala got his 68th. 69th. and 70th walks tonight. He's also running an unsustainably low BABIP, I think the hits will come. Nishida was 1-3 with 2 BB and 3 SB. He also reached on an error because he makes defenses nervous. Incredibly hard not to root for him, and his playstyle seems infectious. Bergolla (1-3 with a BB) seems to have solid speed too, he also stole 3 bags. RHP Connor Housley (UDFA) got his first WS save. He's got nice stuff, sub-1 ERA and WHIP. Other MiLB observations: DeLoach has looked really solid lately. Great defense, slashing .280/.419/.560 in August after an .815 OPS July. I thought the org was done with Carlos Perez catching, but maybe not? He's backing up Quero now. I know they called up Chuckie, but they could have Hackenberg in Charlotte if they wanted. FWIW, he looks okay back there and also hit a HR today. DJ is off to a hot start in AA. 5-13 with 2 HR, 1BB and just 2K:

Wolkow with #10, oppo again.
-
Batista goes 4IP, 1ER, 5H, 2BB, 7K in his WS debut.
-
He got banged up a bit behind the plate yesterday, could be still feeling it.
-
2K in the first for Batista making his A+ debut.
-
Carela strikes out the side on 12 pitches in his first AA inning.
-
OF TJ McCants (Round 16) showing off in his affiliate debut. Made a nice catch in CF: And then hit a HR: A couple other newbies in the lineup too.

Jake Eder bounced back from a 3 run first to turn in his best start since the promotion: 6IP, 3ER, 4H, 3BB, 2K. Lots of soft contact, basically never broke a sweat after the first. Just 2 baserunners (both singles) in his last 5 innings. Line could have been a bit better even, but Quero couldn't squeeze a foul tip for an inning ending strike 3 and the batter went on to hit a 2 RBI single. I'm a rare AV believer, but Elko's been playing a solid 1B defensively and also did this:

Colas pulled in the 5th...
