In Kanny, all the new guys got their first hit. Wolkow was 1-3 with 2 walks. LMG looks kinda like his mirror image at the plate, just two huge dudes. Ballers lost 6-3. The WS game was tied 3-3 going into extras...they lost 12-8 after 10. The zone got really tiny, the teams combined for 7BB and 4XBH, and the Dash got the worst of it. Zavala hit a 2 run HR and Kath hit a 3 run HR. A bright spot for the WS pen was Pallette who has been excellent in relief (1.15 ERA and 0.70 WHIP through 15.2IP over 9 games) with 24 K/2 BB(!!). Barons got walked off 7-5 on a 2 out HR, the farm truly ran the gambit of all the White Soxiest ways to lose today. Iriarte did put up a second consecutive QS (with no walks!), but did give up 2 HR. Still, he looks mostly recovered from that rough patch he had, 21IP/4ER over his last 4 starts. DJ had a great game defensively in addition to the HR, saved a run with a dive in the gap and robbed extra bases at the wall. He finished 2-5, Gonzo went 2-5, and Hackenberg went 5-5. Just 3 singles for the rest of the lineup. And then completing the winless day (after the system sweep yesterday), the Knights also lost 6-2. They hit decently, just not in the right spots to make much out of it (1-8 with RISP). Ramos 2-4 with the HR, Colas 2-4 with a 2B, Montgomery 1-2 with a BB, Elko 1-4 with a 2B, and 1-4 days for Quero and Deloach. Nastrini was okay. 5IP, 8H, 2ER, 3BB, 4K. Matt Foster (remember him?) was great in his first inning, but gave up 2ER in his second.

Dj Gladney's first AA hit is a 3 run go ahead HR. Out in a hurry at 110mph.

Kanny debuts for 1B Alec Makarewicz (UDFA), OF Nathan Archer (Round 12), and OF Lyle Miller-Green (Round 17).

Whole farm playing like they smell free roster spots? 4-0 farm sweep (Kanny postponed), winning by a cumulative 38-14. Barons won 7-1. Gowens (4IP/1ER) and Schoenle (3IP/0ER) pitched well. Somewhat rare offensive outburst for Bham as the recent promotions get settled in. Gonzo was 2-5. Goosenberg hit one 444ft, 106 off the bat. WS won 9-4. Tommy Vail has a tiny 0.75ERA through his first 5 starts/24IP at A+. Bergolla (Banks trade) has looked good defensively, and is also 4-12 with a walk, 2 SB, and just 1K so far. Nishida 3-4 with a SB, .409/.458/.409 so far in High A. I want him to be something so badly. Kath 3-5 with a 2B and 3RBI.

Knights win 10-5. Burke looked solid today. Walk + HR in the first, and then retired 10 in a row before running out of steam. Slider looks nice. Finished with 4IP, 3ER, 3H, 2BB, 8K(!). McGough (Eloy trade) has given up no hits/runs in his first 4IP(2G) in the system. 5K, 1BB. Lots of success offensively: Quero: 3-4 with an HR and 3RBI. Deloach: 2-3 with a 3B, HR, BB, and 3RBI. Elko: 3-5 Colson: 1-5 with a HR and 3RBI.

Colson crushes one to RF to possibly put a bow on it for Charlotte. 105mph and 429ft, Knights up 9-3 in the 8th.
-
Quero continues his heater with another HR. Also had a single and a sac fly earlier.
-
DeLoach is 2-2 with a 3B and a HR so far.
-
Some well deserved pitching promotions:
-
Solo HRs for both Elko and Quero (batting righty) against Povich through 3.
-
4 hitless (6K/2BB) for Lucas Gordon for WS in game 1.
-
The Knights have been cooking offensively of late. They've scored 5 runs or more 7 times in their last 10 played.

Schultz was Schultz. 3.2IP, 1H, 0ER, 2BB, 5K. His Barons ERA is down to 1.64. The hit was a single allowed to the freshly promoted Xavier Isaac (TBR #3/Pipeline #31).

Barons game is free to watch tonight, for those who wish to celebrate Schultz bump day.
-
Sounds like his ABs will be intermittent to start.
-
Would expect Mogollon sees some time in Kanny soon.
-
Elko goes yard in his second AB. No highlight since the MiLB broadcasts are broken, but it was a change sent 102mph/400ft off the bat to LCF per Statcast.

Good A+ debut for Nishida batting leadoff, 2-5 with a run scored and SB. Jake Bockenstedt's debut went less well. 2.2IP, 9H (2HR), 7ER, 1BB, 2K. It was a high scoring affair overall, Dash won 11-10 after going down 9-5 at one point. And in other promotion/debut news, Elko gets the start at 1B for his first AAA game.

In another trade related quirk, this was the continuation of a game that got suspended last month with 2 outs in the 9th with Norby at the plate. He's a Marlin now, so they had to have someone else finish his AB. I've watched McGough a bit vs. the Knights, pretty decent stuff.

Meh.
