I am this close to just giving up sports. I really need it right now, but none of the teams are serious.

One Obvious Move Completed - Analytics Overhauled

Why do we even care anymore? It just feels like the rest of Jerry's tenure is hopeless and the team will be playing somewhere else in 2030. -

How the Sox went from 12th in fWAR/talent to last

Hahn sucked. Getz is well on his way to being worse. -

Definitely not a man, definitely don't want to be a man. I tried that and it didn't go well for me. -

It's a clusterfuck for sure, but I also heard that Comcast had no interest in continuing with NBCSN-CHI. -

Well, this is over for me. My folks want to go with a provider that doesn't care about RSNs. I will be unable to watch Sox games next year. I barely watched this year so it's not a huge deal. I doubt they'll get many national games. Nothing I can do. I have been a part of this community since 2005 and it seems like it's coming to an end. -

Yeah, I was thinking this thread was about the poster.

I have no way to get the channel out here. Channel 62 is not of usable quality in my area. I do not control the cable in my house and we have xfinity. If xfinity tells them to f*** off, that might be the end of me as a sports fan. I have already watched fewer Sox and Hawks games than ever before. With the Bears repeating the same mistakes over and over again, I am starting to feel like I should just back off of sports entirely. -
I don't think any other team will give up young hitters. Those are being hoarded like Scrooge McDuck's money.

I really like what I saw from Williams on that drive.

I'm concerned he's gonna get David Carr'd.

I'm going to disagree about this, because in 2016 the Sox had Sale, Quintana, and Eaton to trade and the trade market wasn't dead. Now the trade market is dead, if the Sox trade Crochet they're liable to get a similar return to Cease which doesn't really move the needle that much. The Sox are loaded with pitching in the minors, they need position players badly, as there is not much beyond Quero and maybe Montgomery. Furthermore, Getz's choices for centerpieces are questionable at best with Thorpe and Vargas. And questionable is putting it nicely. This is a long, hard road and it might take 3 more years just to not lose 100 games/season.

Robert is 27, the same age Moncada was in 2022 when he fell off a cliff never to return to previous levels of performance. Hey, if I'm wrong I'll own it, but I feel like I have seen this movie before. I think Robert will be on the Sox on OD 2025, we will see what type of year he has. Also, his value is diminished if he has to move to LF.
-
Exactly, everyone was so quick to say Moncada sucked after his one good year, idk why everyone thinks Robert is different. Injuries, K issues, swinging at crap, loss of power, it's all the same stuff.
-
That's what we thought about Moncada too. He is basically what Keith Law scouted now and why he wasn't high on him. Just like Moncada, the injuries have sapped his power. At least Moncada got on base when he wasn't hitting. I disagree, I think Robert is now suddenly a bad player. Like @fathom said, he doesn't impact the ball anymore. He is worth 0.6 fWAR this year and isn't even a plus defender anymore. If someone wants to give you something worthwile, bye.
-
I think I'd trade Robert for whatever I can get at this point, because I think he has been figured out and isn't the same player. Moncada was once good, injuries destroyed his career. Robert is going that way. I think it is very possible if they hang on to him they end up declining his option next winter.

Schultz is the #1 LHP prospect in the game. He destroyed AA this year after being called up.

I am incredibly nervous right now that Jerry's sons are going to take over the Sox as well. I used to be a HUGE NBA fan and JR and sons killed that love. In the 2000s, in my youth I used to watch 130 games a year. I couldn't really bear to watch this year because it just wasn't fun anymore. That being said, maybe I'm being unreasonable as a fan, because I grew up with the Bulls winning championships, the Sox being 5th in baseball in winning percentage over a 20 year period(1990-2010) the Hawks having a magical run in my 20s. The Bears are the only team that has been a constant disappointment, and I'm getting very close to just giving up on sports. Honestly, if it wasn't for the social aspect, like here where I have been part of this community for nearly 20 years, idk if I'd continue.

This. They are fine at LHSP with Schultz and Smith.
