You do realize that Cleveland had the lowest bullpen ERA in all of baseball and their starters are slightly above average. They might not have great pitching, but it certainly doesn't "stink".

QUOTE(uncle_sanchez @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Hey I ve seen this kid play all his life.. (Hense the name.) he has surprised even those who expected him to be where he is now.. I ll make a prediction that by 2007 he will be taking a trip to Southside Chitown in september or so. java script:emoticon(':gosox1:') smilie Not saying he can't do it, but if he's even in AA by 2007 i'd call it good progress.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Mine's broken. I can't read anything after the 'more' link. Same here.

Remember they only announce paid attendance, there could have been 40K, but only 37K paid.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Shhhhhh, the Red Sox might hear you Let them hit the panic button because the Yanks are on their heels. The white sox would probably fare better vs. Burnett than Arroyo anyway. Most teams have figured out all you need to do against Arroyo is stack the lineup with lefties. The man has a OPS agianst around .850 vs. lefties.

QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Whose team is the best in the bigs? That plays with arguably the best division in the bigs? That has to make you more deserving, helping your team to the best record in the bigs. Hey, i'd much rather see a White Sox representing the best record in baseball, but it's an All-Star game, not an MVP award. Right now Halladay has the best stats and even thought his contributions might not be as valuable as Garland or Buehrle, they are the most impressive at this point.
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Thank you very much. Run support: Jon Garland: 7.11 Mark Buehrle: 4.00 Roy Halladay: 3.71 A main factor in pitchers picking up wins is runs is run support, thus making Halladay's 10 wins ever more impressive.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Why? Halladay 10-4, 2.53 ERA, 11 QS, 0.95 WHIP Buehrle 8-1, 2.67 ERA, 11 QS, 1.05 WHIP Garland 12-2, 3.40 ERA, 10 QS, 1.09 WHIP and seeing as Halladay also has more IP and Ks i'd say he's more worthy. BTW, Kenny Rogers should get some consideration too.
-
Even though it'd be nice to see a White Sox start the AS game again, at this point i think Roy Halladay is most deserving.

No it's not a near sellout, but if you plan on sitting together you'll probably end up somewhere high in the UD. Lower deck usually has 4-5 empty seats together tops on Monday's.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) No hints. All I'll say is you'll be happy and it's not Ulacia. Is it Dennis Ulacia?

Since late '95, early '96, which would put be at about 8-9 years old.

A base stealer is only effective if his success rate it above 75%. Scotty has so far been around 80% for his career, so he can be classified as a productive base stealer. If Scotty can keep his OBP above .350 and keep the steal rate above 75% he's an elite leadoff man. IF the steal rate falls below 75% he's better off just staying at first. These numbers don't however take into account the affect a productive base stealer has on a pitcher. here some info about SB effectiveness: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2607

I don't think the Sox would be willing to give up anything even slightly significant for Feliz. Lets see: Crede: .229 AVG, .300 OBP, .408, SLG, .708 OPS, Age: 27, Scoring Position: .821 OPS, 2005 Salary: $400,000 Feliz: .272 AVG, .309 OBP, .442 SLG, .751 OPS, Age: 31, Scoring Position: .658 OPS, 2005 Salary: $2,325,000 Seeing as how Feliz is older, more expensive and hasn't been exactly great at third base. Not to mention he's not a significant upgrade on offense. Giving up any real prospect for Feliz would be idiotic.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) The tv guys are saying Marte's velo is down. 88 on the fastball. Herm Schneider walks Marte off the mound, something is the matter with him. Just to point out the Comcast gun was kinda slow today. El Duque never hit above 85, Politte never hit above 91, and Anderson has been right around 89-91 .

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) That's a terrible way of looking at things. No it's not. I'm a fan, i watch baseball for entertainment purposes. Why should i second guess every move the manger makes? That's KW's job, that's some jackass reporters job. All i ask from Ozzie and the Sox is to bring me some worthy entertainment, they've done that. So sit back relax and enjoy the ride. b****ing about Ozzie won't improve his crappy bullpen management and he's not getting fired any time soon. Enjoy being in first place and holding the league's best record in early June, it might be a while until the Sox are in this position again.
-
Is Ozzie terrible at managing a bullpen? Yes. Is Ozzie for some strange reason infatuated with Timo? Yes. Are the Sox 37-18? YES, SO WHO THE f*** CARES!!! Just enjoy the ride

Plus, since when does MTV shy away from controversy? Baah, nobody watches MTVs crappy award show anyways.

BTW, these FOX announcers are pretty good; they might not be Hawk and DJ but have called a very enjoyable game. -
I just wanted to clear something up............

MLB rule book on base running: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/official...es/runner_7.jsp Doesn't really give you a clear definition in case of a tie. -
Minor League Baseball Audio/video feeds: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...imedia/grid.jsp I haven't caught any Sox farm teams yet, but you might come across one every now and then.

CHW: Hernandez (3-1, 2.70 ERA) TOR: Bush (0-3, 4.97 ERA) -Bush's first career start vs. the Sox. -Has pitched well his last two starts. -Team has a 0-5 record when he pitches. -El Duque last three years vs. TOR: 8 GS, 2-4, 4.03 ERA, .234 AVG -At Skydome (or whatever it's called now): 0-3, 7.79 ERA, in four starts. -However, the only player with good career numbers vs. El Duque is Vernon Wells (21 ABs, 2 HRs, .987 OPS) -Everyone with 10+ career AB has a OPS below .600.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 4, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) On a sidenote....The US NEEDS TO BUILD MORE REFINERIES. The damn environmentalist need to step aside and at least let us build one new refinery if not two or three. The biggest reason for these high prices are the fact that the US is already at capacity when it comes to producing the gas. Environmentalists have nothing to do with the lack of refineries. Current projected cost for a new refinery is over a billion dollars. The only thing that is economically feasible is to expand current refineries. Don’t blame environmentalists, blame the oil companies for not investing in new refineries.
-
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 1, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) You can thank enviro wackos for our current problems. Because of their resistance there have been no nuclear plants built in 30 years & no new refining capacity built in 30+ years. Refining capacity, or the lack thereof, is a huge reason why gas is so expensive. We have oil sitting around in inventory but there aren't enough refineries to change it over to gasoline and other distilates to meet demand. You can't really blame the environmentalists for low refining capacity. Iin the early 80s the government stopped subsidizing many small refineries thus slowing refining capacity growth. Taxpayer money was fattening profits for these small refineries and the output from these refineries was not worth the expense. New refineries are just not profitable enough for people to invest money in. Unless we scrap just about every air pollution law, nothing short of huge government subsidiaries would save U.S oil refineries. So once again i return to my original point; the anwser isn't more oil, it's less.
