  1. Just a reminder to some: Ponson truned down a 3 year/ 21 mil extenstion from the O's early last season. So he might be looking for more than 7 mil per season. Will he get it? Don't know, but 3/21 might not be enough.

  3. Right, the Sox's getting a real SS? That'll be the day...welcome back Jose (it'll soon be true)
  4. I have a feeling Matsui will turn out to be a bust.
  5. Was Ponson ever a stud ? He put up pretty damn good numbers this season, nothing stud worthy, but still pretty damn good.
  6. How would that be possible? KW has already said the payroll will be about the same as this year (58 mil or something close to it). With Colon re-signed they'll need to cut 10-12 mil of payroll (Magz? or Frank and Lee?) and if Colon isn't re-signed why even bother getting another FA?
  7. Maybe Rowand will have a break out season. I guess i can hope.
  8. Just to avoid any confusion... This photo was designed in 2001, this is not something that has recently been released by the Sox. Yeah, don't get the wrong idea, that's not what the Cell might look like. But its a good example of a HR porch.
  9. Yeah, there are more than 10 rows out today, but i heard they had to remove a few extra rows for more construction room. My friend told me his ticket rep said only six rows will be removed. I guess we'll just have to wait until the Sox's announce what the hell their doing.
  10. Last i heard was that 8 rows will get chopped off the UD (what good does that do?) and the UD roof will be extended over all the seats behind home plate. Could be wrong, but it seems reasonable.
  11. To anwesr #1: Frank wants to win, he sold the house to make sure he's financially secure. If the Sox's put out a good team Frank isn't going anywhere, but if he thinks he can get a fair deal (probably no more than 6 mil) with a better team i think Frank will leave.
  12. If the Sox's don't pick up Frank's option he becomes a FA. Frank can buyout the Sox's if they pick up the option and he dosen't want to stay.
  13. 6 Million Maybe he'll be man enough to give some of it back...
  14. A realistic 2004 Sox's team: Pitching staff Rotation Colon RH(13M) Buehrle LH(2.0M) if he goes to arbitration he might get 3.0-3.5 mil. Loaiza RH(4.0M) Garland RH(1M) Schoeneweis(1.5M) or Rauch (300K) Bullpen C) Marte(600K) Wunsch (1.5M) Koch (6M) Wright (400K) Ginter(400K) Either Rauch or Schoeneweis. Tota l$$$ for pitching: 26.7M Lineup 1) Alomar 2B(2.5M) 2) Carlos LF(6.0M) 3) ***See below 4) Maggs RF(14.0M) 5) ***See below 6) Crede 3B(400K) 7) Valentin SS(3.0M) 8) Rowand CF(400K) 9) Olivo C (400K) Total $$$ for hitting: 26.7M (Plus 6-10 mil extra somewhere in between) ***The way i see our 1B/DH situation is: 1) If Frank picks up his option he's our DH/1B 2) PK needs to be traded, if he can't be traded and Thomas dosen't pick up his option, then Thomas is gone. PK will then be the DH/1B 3) PK gets traded, Thomas dosen't pick up his option, then the Sox's can pick up Thomas option. 4) Trade PK, let Thomas walk and sign crap to replace them, keeping our payroll around 55M. So either way our total payroll falls somewhere in the 60-65M range. If Colon dosen't sign this could turn into a fire sale really quick.
  15. 41-41, 8th seed, with Eddy Curry being an All-Star. As long as the Bulls win 10-12 games on the road they'll be a playoff team.
  16. I really don't know what to think of Wille, lets see how he does in ST. If he proves he can hit in ST, i'd make sure to give him a lot of playing time early in the season.
  17. Well, i guess Hawk thought it would, cause that's the trade KW was close to getting done near the deadline.
  18. Jeff Weaver for Flash, that was before Flash became the full-time closer.
  19. I'd say it's more about Cub fans than the Cubs themselves. If you live in Chicago you've probably gotten a lot of crap from Cubs fans and now you can go to work/school tomorrow and tell them all to f*** off. BTW, Aaron should start in CF next season.
  20. Orlando Cabrera = big money, 5-7 mil per season/4 years. A SS that puts up .297-17-80 and plays great D will command a s***load of money.
  21. I think Reed should get at least 200 AB's in Charlotte before he gets called up. AA to the bigs is a big jump. Plus, Rowand should get a chance at center.
  22. Look at it think way; the Sox's will make a lot more money off this new deal. So i'd say Uncle Jerry better put some of that money into the payroll and not just his pocket.
  23. Not interested in Astacio, Burkett, Byrd, Carpenter, Rusch or D'Amico. The rest are worth a look, I suppose. That's about the cream of the crop when it comes to the Sox's limited budget. I'm not saying we throw money at these guys, but a ST invite, or a low contract could make them a very a very attractive 5th starter.
