  1. Have to just hope Pages keeps sucking at the plate and Robert starts hitting. The Dodgers could still always just stick with Edman as their primary CF but it’s pretty apparent that they want to keep him in a utility role.
  2. Sad but true, and I doubt things change at all if Michael takes over.
  3. Yep, I think SoxTalk picked out better 1B than Vaughn in back-to-back offseasons. Michael Busch last offseason and Ben Rice this offseason. But it looks like only Busch may have been available.
  4. It’s funny you mention Comcast trying to put a wrench in free over-the-air sports on TV. When I was very young, Jerry Reinsdorf and Eddie Einhorn formed one of the very first subscription-based sports television services called Sportsvision. Jerry and Eddie were essentially trying to create their own pay to watch network just like Marquee, but years ahead of the Cubs. How ironic.
  5. No thanks. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
  6. Your favorite GM Getz does apparently. He picks the players, just in case you have forgotten.
  7. But he still can’t hit at all, continuing on his theme from last season and most of his career. Defense is not the problem.
  8. That’s a bit scary. Need to pray that Michael Reinsdorf loses those shares somehow.
  9. Maldonado has all of 24 plate appearances. Sheets has 42. I would venture to guess you will want both guys DFA’ed once their small sample sizes grow enough. You are jumping the gun with this post far too early.
  10. So three years for Getz to field a winning team, but does last year count toward the timeline? So two more seasons of rebuilding this season and 2026? Competitive team ready for the 2027 season?
  11. You don’t know what I am getting at? What did I say that was confusing? I thought my question was very direct and to the point. Hahn started his rebuild in December 2016 with the Chris Sale trade. He then went on to have three losing seasons in 2017, 2018, and 2019, even though he still managed to win 62 to 72 games without setting the loss record. The Sox then made the postseason in 2020 and 2021. So one could say his rebuild took three years until he finally built a winning team. How long are we expecting Getz to be in “rebuild mode” and when can we expect to see his first winning team?
  12. COVID is over now and everything is put into place. So what is Getz’s new timeline for the rebuild now? More specially, in what year/season can we expect to see a winning Sox team?
  13. Apparently, beggars can’t be choosers. Maybe once Getz trades for more cash considerations, the Sox can bring them back.
  14. Beggar’s Pizza, but point taken.
  15. I saw some recent job postings from the Sox in the past year and Jerry pays dick. He probably wouldn’t match my current salary.
  16. Nicky Katt, 54, suicide. Known for several movies — A Time to Kill, Sin City, Boiler Room, School of Rock, The Way of the Gun, and, Dazed and Confused, and shows — Monk, Law & Order, and Boston Public.
  17. I doubt he ever signs another contract for as much as the Sox gave him through arbitration this year — $5.85 million.
  18. I don’t either, otherwise Getz would have, or should have, accepted the offer (De Paula and Outman) immediately.
  19. To me, De Paula alone would be a haul considering how low Robert has devalued himself with poor performance and injuries. Outman would just be a throw-in but I’d rather see him in the OF over Palacios, Taylor, and Jones.
  20. Here’s what I found. It is a draft lottery for the top 6 picks. I was wrong and the Sox wouldn’t automatically get the 1st pick, but finishing with the worst record in baseball would increase their chances of getting the #1 pick and a higher pick overall. “The MLB draft order is determined by a combination of factors, including a lottery for the first six picks, reverse order of regular season records for non-playoff teams, and postseason finish for playoff teams. Here's a more detailed breakdown: 1. Draft Lottery: The first six picks are determined by a lottery, where teams that didn't make the playoffs are assigned odds based on their previous season's record. The team with the worst record doesn't automatically get the top pick; the lottery ensures a degree of randomness. 2. Reverse Order of Standings: For the remaining picks (7-18), the draft order follows the reverse order of the previous season's standings among non-playoff teams. 3. Postseason Finish: Once the lottery and non-playoff teams have picked, the 12 postseason teams take their turns in order of their elimination in the playoffs, with the World Series champion picking last. 4. Additional Factors: Revenue sharing status and competitive balance picks can also affect the draft order.”
