  1. I was going to say Carlos Quentin but he actually hit well in limited at bats with the D-backs in his rookie season. The talent was likely always there and he would have hit with the D-backs as well had he not been traded to the Sox after only two seasons with Arizona.
  2. Not when the other half of the trade is poor in comparison, and when compared to the return for a mediocre starter in Rogers. Norby or Vargas is up for debate, but the Marlins also received an interesting lefty OF bat in Stowers.
  3. The two minor leaguers that the Dodgers included.
  4. Getz apparently already knew this when he made the trade.
  5. But the league, or at least the Orioles, are sold on Rogers to be worth more? He’s a ~4.50 ERA backend of the rotation starter. I guess two more years of control over a mediocre starter is better than just one more year of control over a good starter? Perplexing considering the Sox also included Kopech.
  6. That’s about what people expected for Fedde initially. A backend top 100 MLB prospect and a guy later than that. And Fedde >>> Rogers. It’s a better return than what Getz got back for Fedde + Kopech.
  7. That doesn’t make much sense. Fedde has been much better than Rogers, although Rogers has a second year of control before free agency. Neither Norby (Orioles #5 prospect) nor Vargas have a glove but even if they are on par, the Marlins also received an outfield bat in Stowers. The Sox had to include Kopech with a better pitcher in Fedde for their return.
  8. Even though Stowers is already turning 27 in January, it looks like the Marlins did better than Getz did with the Fedde trade. Norby can’t play defense but neither can Vargas. And while Roger’s has two years of control left and Fedde only has one, Fedde has been WAY better than Roger’s this season. Getz is awful.
  9. Yep, the Sox Machine guys (Margalus and Nelson) just mentioned this on The Score. Other than Crochet, they expect DeJong and Brebbia to be dealt.
  10. To be fair, Getz does have one good trade already for sure — the corpse of Robbie Grossman for reliever Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa. All of his other trades are either bad, questionable, and/or still up in the air.
  11. I’m sure Getz could find a way to top that.
  12. Levine: “Anthony Michael Hall, Yankees top prospect, also starred in Ferris Bueller’s Day off.”
  13. I know Robert is better than what he has shown this season. But he’s having a mediocre year (yes, his OPS is down to .741) and he’s also been injured this season. My whole point was that the Sox should wait until he is OPS’ing above .800 so they can sell him high and get back what he’s worth. I’m not sure why you are upset by what I said. I agree with you.
  14. This Spencer Jones stuff was all hype. Saying he was off the table was just to hype him up for when they finally offered him up. Lame.
  15. No team is going to pay a premium for a .741 OPS CF. We just have to wait until he gets hot for an extended period of time.
  16. Perhaps you will pass out early from your food coma and not have to see the disappointing return after the Sox include Benintendi’s contract. ?
  17. He has been terrible and has looked uninterested in playing very hard. All he had to do was go on a hot streak and he’d be playing for a contender. It’s better that the Sox don’t sell him low. Just have to hope he stays healthy and gets hot the rest of the season and/or before next year’s trade deadline.
  18. Orioles, lol. I’d love to see that “offer”.
  19. Yep, it seems like they Getz might be trying to build a patchwork lineup with sell low candidates, rather than go the prospect route. Yuck, I really hope this isn’t the case. I just hope that Outman is already slightly out of Getz’s age range of players he is seeking so he avoids him altogether. Both Walker and Vargas are a few years younger.
  20. There were no extension demands for Fedde and he had a dirt cheap contract so what explains the mediocre return for him?
  21. Yuck. Acquiring Outman over additional prospects would be terrible. He’s had a terrible sophomore slump and he will already turn 28 next season. Along with a catcher that may not be able to stick there, and his bat likely isn’t good enough for 1B. The Dodgers would have to be offering up Rushing and De Paula.
  22. Elias says no to dealing Mayo. Has any GM dealt a top position player prospect this trade deadline?
  23. The second response to this thread and absolutely nailed it.
  24. And it only took him one deadline trade and POOP ?
