If Elko was 21/22, I might be able to understand keeping him in the minors for another year. But the dude is turning 27 in December. There is no reason for him to not be given a shot.

I don’t see why not. They will have a roster crunch soon with Tauchman and Rojas and Elko isn’t getting any younger. You already know you aren’t bringing back Vaughn for next year with a bump to his $6 million salary.

But the fact remains that they are televising three sub .500 teams. Where is the market for that? I think you are sorely mistaken about the kind of money Comcast will earn signing a deal with Jerry and the Wirtz family. Their teams all suck and they are both pretty terrible owners. Also, Elko is a few months younger than Vaughn. He isn’t some great prospect. These three teams are perfect for free OTA viewing. But I have no idea why Comcast would even want to pay up to televise this losing crap if they aren’t making money from it.

I would be surprised if he can play the position but f*** it, throw Workman at SS full-time and see what he can do. I see no reason not to. We already know that Amaya can’t hit major league pitching.

$3.5 million? Getz already wasted more than that on Slater and Tauchman. Getz has wasted millions on garbage the past two offseasons, carrying on the tradition from Hahn. All those million here and there wasted on garbage vets adds up. But this is just par for the course.
