  1. Just sit back and enjoy the embarrassment and shame that Reinsdorf will feel once they hit the consecutive loss record tonight… All for about five whole seconds before he dives into his swimming pool of gold coins, drinks his warm milk, and goes to bed.
  2. The 2024 White Sox, where a pitcher will always get a shot, as long as his throwing arm is still attached to his body.
  3. Man, the Sox ain’t messing around. They want that record.
  4. Remember MLB Slugfest? The arcadey version of baseball like NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, and NHL Hitz all by Midway.
  5. He basically gets paid to tell stories he’s told countless times, predict a few pitches, ditch west coast trips, and troll his partner.
  6. Oh yeah. Fans still mod the PC version of the game to this day, with the latest roster updates, graphics, etc. https://www.mvpmods.com/files/category/2-mvp-baseball-2005/
  7. https://corymvega.medium.com/mvp-baseball-2005-the-legend-of-jon-dowd-the-greatest-fake-athlete-ever-7f1600aa822b Still probably the greatest baseball video game of all time. Better than The Show for its time (2005).
  8. I think JR would be too lazy and cheap to pay Schriffen to leave and also look for and pay a new guy. Just like the Getz hire in which he interviewed zero other candidates for the job. A job which is way more important than a broadcaster job. JR wants a yes man that he can control. Schriffen is most definitely that guy in the booth.
  9. Would JR be in charge of this process or would the new network get the final say?
  10. He’s a company man now. He is milking that gig of his. He knows he can get away with being a dick to his partner and take “convenient” breaks from west coast trips.
  11. Third time this year! ? He should thank his lucky stars that the Sox at least have a place for him, cuz no one else wants him.
  12. He let them make trades at the deadline and cut them loose right at the end of the season. Really strange. I trust you guys to sell our players but not to continue after that.
  13. Well, if by “finishers” you mean vets at the end of their careers… ?
  14. This. We all joke that Hahn loved signing relievers but this is likely the reason he did sign so many. The dollar range of contracts Hahn was approved to offer was probably in the range of a non-closing relievers, so he just tried to advantage of the free agent players he could actually sign in his price range.
  15. It also matches Reinsdorf’s feelings about the players association having too much power in the game and thinking that individual players make too much money via free agency. He has such a grudge because of this that he refuses to pay out a big deal to a star player and would rather go the route of paying a few guys the same amount as one true difference-maker. It almost always ends up in wasted money, but he is too stubborn to admit it.
  16. Exactly. $75 million is no longer “top player” money. It’s not even premium talent money. It’s more like Tier C free agent money these days. It’s how you end up with guys like Keuchel and Benintendi and looking to eat the rest of their contracts after a year or two.
  17. R H? That must be Rick Hahn’s burner account right?
  18. I prefer to say, Reinsdorf lets his GM spread out money on a bunch of mediocre free agents that aren’t difference-makers. It’s the worst strategy ever.
  19. Only two teams have never signed a free agent to a contract larger than $75 million. It’s us and a team that has to relocate. How can this even be argued?
  20. Getz knows the org. We can expect to be back to .500 next season.
  21. He probably could. I haven’t heard Lip’s voice but he probably has more historical Sox knowledge located in his left nut than Schriffen has in his entire body. ?
  22. But remember what Kenny said — if Machado had reached all of the incentives included in the Sox offer, he would have had the opportunity to make more money than the fully guaranteed contract that the Padres ultimately signed him to! ??? This is why you can’t trust the Sox in any of their shady and ridiculous free agent negotiations. They are either morons and truly thought their offer was better than the Padres or they are outright liars to the fans. Clowns, either way. ?
  23. I heard this last night and I know he is pandering to Sox fans but it came across as too fake. He may have just become a Sox fan when he got the job but the dude is from New York. He was likely a Yankees or Mets fan growing up. I know this is a bit petty to make fun of him about but he tries too hard sometimes. He doesn’t need to be an outright homer like Hawk. Hawk at least earned his homer rights by being here for so long.
  24. Agreed, but JR isn’t going that route. Like @Dick Allen always reminds us, Getz was chosen because he knew the system and it wouldn’t take him a full year to get ramped into the GM position, like an outside GM candidate would’ve required. Well, after this season we now see that this would’ve been the better route to take since Getz ended up wasting a season anyways.
