  1. Anytime Kopech has a scoreless outing, it is a positive. Keep lowering that ERA up to the deadline.
  2. And then Getz pays a scientist to clone him 8 more times to fulfill JR’s wet dream of a lineup.
  3. Cease missed a no hitter by one out with the White Sox two years ago against the Twins. https://www.mlb.com/news/dylan-cease-near-no-hitter-against-twins This was just the Padres second no hitter in franchise history. It is sort of a big deal.
  4. Comparing ERAs between one starter with only 38.2 innings pitched and another starter with 131 innings pitched doesn’t seem like the greatest comparison. One mediocre to bad start could shoot up Thorpe’s ERA through the roof. Also, don’t look at their respective K/9. Hopefully, Thorpe improves his over time. Until then, only Cease can be considered a true ace.
  5. Since you last called out Cease for his high ERA, he has dropped it from 4.24 to 3.50 in only four starts. Crazy.
  6. I would only be annoyed if the Padres could trade Cease now for more than what the Sox got back, which may or may not be true. But I know Cease wouldn’t be this good with Getz’s awful offseason built defense playing behind him. Thorpe also helps.
  7. That’s was a big inning. Barely threw any pitches. Through 8 innings and now at 103 pitches. ERA down to 3.53.
  8. He’s at 95 pitches and needs to get through 2 more innings. His ERA is down to 3.56.
  9. The tweet from Heyman is, “Garrett Crochet plan with White Sox is to pitch normal workload as starter until end of regular season.” However, we already know that this isn’t true, as the Sox have already begun to limit his innings/pitch count.
  10. Yep, and the early extension will provide him with a security blanket in case he does get injured.
  11. That’s how you interpreted that tweet? I read it as Crochet acknowledging that he does have an innings limit but will attempt to extend his innings pitched as a starter into the playoffs if some team pays up for him to do so and risk injury. He’s simply trying to leverage the situation to force a team that trades for him to show him the money. There is still no guarantee that he won’t be worn out with dead arm by then.
  12. Because Jerry doesn’t care and thinks Sox fans are stupid and will accept Grifol’s firing at the end of the season to serve as the fall guy for he and Getz.
  13. Problem is Mullins has been pretty bad for three seasons in a row. He is apparently not the All-Star stud he was in 2021.
  14. There really isn’t much it would make sense to trade Thorpe for, especially when the Sox could be on the verge of trading away two of their starters. If Thorpe isn’t untouchable, he’s probably the closest to having that status on this roster. As far as your second question, I’m not sure but I doubt it matters much with cell phones, laptops, tablets, Teams/Zoom, etc. Getz should be able to analyze any potential trade and get feedback from the rest of his staff within a matter of minutes.
  15. He’s a 2.5 WAR guy. I can see not wanting him because he is a bit older (26) than whom the Sox should be targeting and his defense is poor but he puts Andrew Vaughn to shame.
  16. Seriously, if there is a bad move to make, the Sox will always choose it. It’s truly uncanny.
  17. Winning percentage back down to .260. Back on pace to top the 2003 Detroit Tigers record! 42-120!
  18. No excuses for this guy. He is even telegraphing it himself. If Getz hasn’t completed several trades by the deadline, he has done something wrong. “As trade market 'comes alive,' White Sox GM Chris Getz digs in for deadline” “Getz isn’t naming names, but it’s known he’s listening on everyone, Garrett Crochet, Luis Robert Jr. and Erick Fedde included. He acknowledged five or six players could be dealt as the Sox build for the future.”
  19. This is just Sox fans wanting their desired/favorite position prospects. Sox fans, not Getz, are the ones trying to rule out certain teams because they don’t like their hitting prospects over other teams’ hitting prospects. You are making it seem like none of the competitive teams that are looking to deal for players have any top offensive prospects. There are more guys out there than simply Holliday and Mayo.
  20. Who is “most”? It took me two seconds to find recent articles that the Phillies would like to add pitching.
  21. Most people have no clue what teams are offering for any of the Sox players. I don’t see how a Sox fan can “rule out” anything when Getz is the one fielding calls from other GMs, not the fans. This is like trying to come up with a preemptive excuse for Getz in case he fails.
  22. Agreed, but I was told we all had to at least give Getz the offseason, the draft, and the trade deadline to truly judge him.
  23. The Sox have two of the top starters to deal making nothing, a top CF talent on a good contract (3/$55), several relievers to deal, Pham, and DeJong. There is literally one player on the roster that Getz shouldn’t be looking to deal in Thorpe. There aren’t many teams left? Huh? Teams make trades each and every trade deadline. This year will be no different. There are competitive teams in need of everything and the Sox have a bit of everything to trade — starters, position players, and bullpen. If Getz isn’t the busiest GM in baseball with several trades completed by the trade deadline, he has failed.
