Fenwick advances to face Downers Grove North and future Minnesota Gophers QB Owen Lansu. 12-7 final. Some awful ball management by BR’s QB CJ Gray basically gave the game to Fenwick. Crazy scrambling at the end of the first half to give up the ball and an easy Fenwick TD and some more scrambling out of his own end zone for a safety in the fourth quarter, rather than taking a sack and throwing the ball away. 9 points gifted to Fenwick. OL injuries ended up killing BR. While Fenwick does have a good D, BR couldn’t move the ball on the ground at all.

That may be a good idea considering Getz seems to mostly go after terrible players.

Jon Rauch still made a career as a decent reliever and was in the MLB for 11 years. I don’t think he would be that massive of a bust considering that. He was still just a third round pick.

This is true, but is 33 innings a short stretch? That’s about half a season of innings for most relievers. I guess we’ll find out next season.

Getz is an expert at acquiring scraps — Maldonado, Lopez, Fletcher, Vargas, etc.

It is a fact that Kopech put up better stats with the Dodgers than the Sox last year. That is clear and irrefutable.

Vargas was already terrible with the Dodgers in 434 plate appearances across three seasons. It’s not like he was a fresh and still hyped up prospect without any major league time. Getz took the scraps that the Dodgers offered him, and chose poorly as he usually does in his trades.
