Sox "way behind everyone else" Lance Lynn
WhiteSox2023 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
People seem to forget that Lynn was already in his mid-30’s when the Sox acquired him. It could just be natural decline due to age rather than him being big. Keuchel fell off a cliff right at around the same age. But like Keuchel, I think he pissed off fans with his attitude when he was getting shellacked in his starts. I can’t remember for sure but did Lynn also say some stupid things to the media about the team while he was getting destroyed on the mound? I also seem to remember Lynn glaring at teammates for making errors while he was on the mound, just like Keuchel. -
Because Getz’s #1 fan entered the thread.

I actually like this move more so than cutting Amaya. Anderson is garbage. Not sure why Getz brought him back in the first place but it was only $900K. Anderson walks far too many batters to believe that he could even sustain last year’s mediocre performance. At least you still have a true defensive SS on the roster, albeit one that can’t hit a lick.

Well, Getz signed veterans that Venable is currently playing and guess what? They are on the same record-setting losing pace that they were on last season after 12 games. Does that make sense? Yeah, he’s in over his head. And the funny thing is that I didn’t make that graphic. It was from a White Sox Podcast on YouTube…

And the extension was 6/$50. So Robert has earned $76 million guaranteed. Robert definitely made out over the Sox, considering it looked like a team friendly contract negotiated by Hahn at the time. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/luis-robert-extension-with-white-sox.html

Congratulations, Chris! It only took 12 games for the White Sox to once again have the worst record in baseball. 👏🏻

Fine, I’ll do it (Game Thread 4/10)

On most teams, probably not always. On the Sox, definitely. -

Well, it comes down to who you believe — Lynn or Getz’s #1 fan. -
I thought I was in the game thread. 😞

At least the Sox managed to trade him for Nastrini and Leasure. Oh wait… -
And depending on what day it is, winning or losing doesn’t matter according to him, because this is a rebuild. In the offseason, I asked what the point of signing a bunch of veterans was and that it would make more sense to play young guys in what will be a non-competitive season. I was told that you can’t set the loss record again. Now apparently it doesn’t really matter if the Sox lose a ton of games and Getz sets the record again.

Vaughn must be diving into Clevinger’s fanny pack.
-
We waited 12 games to call him up. What do people think the Sox record would be if Meidroth started the season on the opening day roster? This was a no brainer move.
-
CHSN just announced it as well.
-
Good. It worked out about as well as it could. Meidroth struggled enough in ST to keep him down and gain the extra year of control, and then he went ballistic at AAA to justify the quick call up.
-
Even Getz can’t be that stupid… Or can he?
-
Getz isn’t getting jack for Robert or anyone else on his garbage roster, just like he didn’t get jack for Fedde and Kopech last year. Soon enough, we will be adding Vargas to the Chris Getz DFA tracker of his stellar trade returns. And it does matter.
-
I would assume the deadline has been reached. It would make no sense to do this if it hasn’t been reached, with how close it must be.
-
Welll done, good sir. Well done.
-
That’s still not the same as setting the MLB’s futility record though. As much as you want it to be the same thing, “coming close” isn’t. And Dombrowski’s team won 72 games the very next season. Getz’s team is on pace to win 27 games, which would shatter his own record from last season.
-
Set the loss record and potentially set it again in consecutive seasons.

2-10. Putrid. -
Well, at least that’s a win for Getz!
-
WE will still be using the rebuild excuse in 2027.
