  1. But you’ve seen his trades so far… Not much there to inspire any hope.
  2. They won’t lose their jobs but our local beat guys should be embarrassed. Great reporting…
  3. I just assumed that Helms was involved in the Vizquel stuff with the bat boy because he was Vizquel’s bench coach for Birmingham at that time. So once the story came out, they fired Helms as well. But maybe that was just a poor assumption by me.
  4. “Our two lists don’t match up!” ”Throw that math homework away! We manage by our guts here…”
  5. “Give me a lineup of nine David Eckstein’s.” 🤦‍♂️
  6. It’s been this way for years and years. The dirt is just finally starting to come out. The rot starts at the core, which is JR. Decades of JR employing kiss ass sycophants has all led to this disaster. Nothing gets better until he’s gone, one way or another.
  7. Kenny’s ego was always as big as the moon. He wanted to take credit for the success, as short-lived as it was.
  8. I don’t have access to the Athletic but Mully just said on The Score that 40 people that were with the White Sox were interviewed for the article, including a former player, so it should be a legit story. I also heard that Jerry provided some quote about how some recently bad teams have turned it around in one season like the Royals, so he is already making up BS about how the Sox could possibly be good next season. 🤣
  9. Mully and Haugh are discussing this article on The Score. Jerry is getting shredded.
  10. He told Getz to trade for Vargas a week before Getz fired him.
  11. He’s perfect for Jerry’s eventual excuse making… He’s a young manager that can “relate to the Sox young prospects”, he’s a known name from his playing days, and he’ll be super cheap. I totally expect this to happen once Schumaker runs away from this shitshow like a house on fire.
  12. The eye test should be all it takes. Vargas has been absolute cow dung in 559 career plate appearances. That’s a full season of at bats over three seasons. There is no way the Sox are going to be the team that fixes the guy when he was just as bad with the Dodgers. Brandon Gomes hoodwinked Getz, just as other GM’s have already done and will continue to do so in the future. BTW — excellent extra innings loss! Get that record Getz, you sorry excuse for a GM!
  13. He is a part of future Sox teams, just like Sheets… but it’s a bad and ugly future.
  14. To be fair, the Fedde, DeJong, and Grossman acquisitions were good because they got back a couple decent relievers for DeJong and Grossman. However, Getz completely blew the Fedde signing by trading him for Vargas.
  15. Hilarious that Moncada has been activated yet hasn’t played yet. More proof that the Sox have no problem playing a man down. However, it will be even more pointless once the Sox DO play Moncada and waste at bats on him when he will be some other team’s problem next season.
  16. Yet Elias gave one of the most hit-or-miss relievers from year-to-year $13 million dollars for 2024 at age 36. Somehow it’s a good enough strategy for the huge payroll Dodgers, but not the much lower payroll Orioles? 🙄
  17. The Orioles just DFA’ed Craig Kimbrel. Instead of his stupid trade for Vargas, Getz should have sold Fedde and Kopech to the Orioles for Norby++ and sent cash to the O’s if necessary.
  18. Unfortunately, the Sox messed with the routine for 3 games straight.
  19. You know what’s better and more effective than hiring a Director of Leadership and Culture that has zero baseball experience? Hiring a quality GM with experience and a goddamn clue. A GM that doesn’t trade quality trade assets for scrubs like Soroka, Shuster, Lopez, Fletcher, Vargas, etc. (a.k.a. not Chris Getz).
  20. I still disagree that the shine wears off that quickly. But if it has, I hope they try to trade Crochet for Mayo again in the offseason. My guess is that the Orioles will still say no and the Sox will get back a headline prospect that is not rated as highly as Mayo.
  21. I agree that they went cheap. They were never going to trade their top prospects. I doubt they will even be a player for Crochet in the offseason due to the cost. Holliday has 184 plate appearances in the MLB. Mayo has 40. If these guys are already losing their shine already, the Sox may as well release Vargas and Fletcher.
  22. Are you trying to say Rogers is a better starter than Eflin? Uhhh, no. No sugarcoating needed. Also see @Bob Sacamano’s post above. They wanted two starters. One was a good pickup and one was horrible. But the way Crochet is pitching in the second half, the Orioles were wise to not give up a Coby Mayo for him.
  23. It’s pretty obvious that Elfin was their big starter move and they were never going to give up top prospects for a starter. And the way Crochet has pitched in the second half, the Orioles were wise not to give up any top prospects for him. Imagine if he was trying to throw 6 innings a start instead of only 2 to 4 like he has been? Rogers has been terrible for them and I think Getz likely messed up by not trying to deal Fedde to them for Norby instead of getting Vargas, even if he had to include some cash for Fedde’s small contract. All we can do is hope that Vargas hits next season.
