  1. I confused my slappy top of the order bats.
  2. LOL, Grifol is safe for the next couple months? Why? What did he do to earn that?
  3. He just hit 96 and 97 in this 7th inning. Nice start.
  4. I thought Vargas hits the ball hard to all parts of the field? I just see a bunch of choppers to all parts of the field…
  5. Why? The minute the Sox reportedly confronted Crochet about an extension and he turned the Sox down, they should have been looking to deal him. Also, there were rumors about trading Robert last year at the deadline and everyone knew the Sox would be bad this season so why would trading Robert last year at the deadline have been such a crazy idea? They would have been selling high on him and avoided another injury, as we saw earlier this season which blew his year.
  6. Gotta love clueless Schriffen talking up 29 year old Nick Senzel as if he’s still early in his career and ready to bust out due to his talent.
  7. Baldwin swinging a wet rolled up newspaper.
  8. I didn’t say that but you described Massey as if he was the size of Dominic Fletcher. He’s not that tiny.
  9. Yikes. Dude just does not look like he is ever going to hit, and it doesn’t look like his small stature helps his case at all…
  10. Massey is 6 foot and 195. Local kid from Palos Park. Went to Brother Rice High School.
  11. He sure does. I wonder if he can box or wrestle?
  12. Why did the Sox release a stud like Maldonado and why hasn’t another team picked him up yet?
  13. That was a nasty pitch and was borderline. Could’ve been called a balls. Let’s see what he does going forward.
  14. What redeeming qualities does he have? Poor defender, can’t hit for average, can’t get on base, doesn’t have power… He bats lefty and maybe he’s a good clubhouse guy?
  15. We would have to see the financials of the trade, but I would assume the Sox ended up dumping a little of Eloy’s remaining $13 million dollar salary for this year, and may have entirely avoided having to pay Eloy’s $3 million dollar buyout. Let’s be honest, there was no way the Sox were going to pay Eloy his $16.5 million dollar option for next season. Unless Eloy gets hotter than s%*#, the Orioles probably won’t either and will give him the $3 million dollar buyout.
  16. Yep. Can’t trade their remaining assets (Crochet and Robert) for a haul because teams are no longer willing to deal their top prospects. And can’t tank for high draft picks as easily as in the past.
  17. I’d try another position unless you think there is a chance the Sox part ways with Benintendi early. Or would you put Benintendi at DH? I’m assuming he is going nowhere.
  18. I would agree with your detailed breakdown.
  19. Neither of us know that, for the Sox or the Marlins. But you can find several articles right that have the Sox as the loser of the trade deadline and the Marlins as winners.
  20. Once again, no one walked away from the Marlins and they got a good return on their trade assets. They probably won the trade deadline as sellers. Meanwhile, everyone and their grandma knows that the Marlins are a lower payroll team that has to move their pricier contracts almost each and every year. So why didn’t your analogy apply to the Marlins, like it did with the Sox?
  21. Fedde has been worth 4.7 bWAR thus far this season. Kopech and his 0.4 bWAR were attached to that trade as well, so the Sox gave up over 5 WAR in that deal. You actually were okay with the Fedde trade but are a bit disappointed that 0.2 bWAR DeJong didn’t net a better return?
  22. Agreed. But gal’s point remains. There may no longer be much of a path to selling top assets for prospects any longer. Teams aren’t willing to give them up. That, along with the draft changes… Welp, good luck Getz…
