It will still be awful in July.
-
Once again, who cares what anyone else thinks? I am not the Sox GM and neither are you. There is one guy who is paid to be the Sox GM and his name is Chris Getz. And last I checked, he traded Santos for DeLoach and also listened to the guy he hired (Josh Barfield) in picking Fletcher over McCarthy. So you just named two of his outfield failures in your very own post.
-
Couldn’t happen to a worse owner.
-
Worse than last year. Getz is a wizard.
-
I didn’t state that. I said the current assessment of the trade looks awful. I also said, “imagine if Getz doesn’t come away with one quality major leaguer from these two trades…”
-
I believe Dick Allen already asked this question but it might be in another thread. What success did Getz have other than Seby Zavala?
-
You know why this is a ridiculous conversation? Because people that suck at their previous roles don’t normally get promoted to an even better and more important role. Haha, the entire situation is a joke to begin with.

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?
WhiteSox2023 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep. Many other GMs of teams have intentionally tanked over the years for draft picks, saving money, etc., and yet none of those GMs managed to achieve what Getz did. -
Good.
-
Getz inherited landmines that he had planted in his previous roles as Director of Player Development and Assistant GM. He then stepped on those landmines numerous times because he was too stupid to remember where he planted them.
-
So because he was bad at his previous roles as Director of Player Development and Assistant GM, he then got promoted to the GM role in which he started out with a weak farm system and MLB roster that he was a part of building and part of the reason it was so bad? I can see why someone would think this is a ridiculous discussion.

Haniger has been bad for 2 years in a row. He’s 34 and probably toast.
-
It’s still a cluster. Lost service time, lost development time, and lost experience.

Who are you most excited to watch this year?

By the media or from some posters on this board? -
@Scott Merkin Fan would not appreciate this post.

And while the Crochet trade looks good right now, the Cease and Santos trades have already aged like crap. The return from those two trades looks disastrous. -

I think if the Bulls were going to get a guy like Cooper Flagg, there would be more hope, but they aren’t. Another part about NBA Hell is that the team’s mediocre record is still too good to get them top draft picks, so the team stays “mired in mediocrity” forever. -
Bernstein got completely played by the random guy. For as much of an intellectual he likes to tout that is, he flipped his s%*# and threatened the guy and his kids publicly over the man questioning if he followed “catch and release” rules with the fish he caught. Think Bernstein may have anger issues he needs to deal with? Also, imagine losing your job because you flipped your s%*# on a random guy questioning you about a fucking fish? Finally, do you think 5’7” Bernstein is saying anything he has tweeted to anyone’s face? Hell no.

Getz already won the award for biggest GM failure last year. Everyone’s pitchforks should be sharper already. JR and Getz kick everyone’s dog and this year will be no different unfortunately.

Official NBA 25-26 Thread

Hopefully the NBA fixes the draft again like they did with Rose to make the Bulls great again. 🤣 -

They have no true stars, and Levine wasn’t one either. It simply doesn’t work in the NBA. They will continue to stay in NBA Hell (hover around .500) until they luck into a #1 overall draft pick or a star free agent is willing to come to Chicago. -
Chris Getz was part of the organization’s lack of talent as director of player development from 2017 to 2020 and assistant GM from 2021 until he was promoted to full-time GM. In the scenario you discussed with SS2K5, an external GM hire would bear no blame for the current state of the organization they are taking over which is why Getz’s performance is worse than others. Since 2017, he was employed in two roles in which part of his job was to develop prospects and help improve the big league roster. Getz was not a brand new external GM hire so if he wants to play the blame game, he can look into a mirror.

It has to top Getz’s list of bad trades. Second on the list must be the Gregory Santos trade. Imagine if Getz comes away with not even one quality major leaguer from those two trades. Drew Thorpe — TJ surgery Samuel Zavala — .641 OPS in A+ ball last season Jairo Iriarte — walks the world Steven Wilson — DFA and went unclaimed with a paltry $1.05 million salary for 2025 Prelander Berroa — TJ surgery Zach DeLoach — DFA and went unclaimed Blake Larson — TJ surgery

Getz just set a record to top countless other GM’s throughout baseball history but he needs to do it twice before being on the hot seat? The sad thing is, I think he keeps his job even if he matches last year’s record.
