  1. Hawk would be going nuts right now with his cliches.
  2. He really is an awful fielder. The Cubs really should have shopped more for a legit 3B and just put Morel at DH. Madrigal was never going to be the answer but they didn’t want to spend resources on a 3B because of their 3B prospect Matt Shaw.
  3. Neither of us know if the Sox did this. That news never came out, only that their offer was higher than the Phillies’. At the end of the day, get back to me when the Sox sign a Wheeler over a Keuchel or a Harper over a Benintendi. The Sox are always a day late and a dollar short. And you can’t spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents. ?
  4. Which is why when you have confidence in your primary target, you lock it up, even if you have to offer more money. You don’t settle for your backup target. The Sox likely neither had the confidence in their decision nor wanted to offer more money. On May 22, 2022, the Sox paid their backup target $14.1 million to not pitch for them for the rest of the season.
  5. Where did I ever say to offer Wheeler twice the going rate? I said that if the Sox truly wanted him, they should’ve sweetened their offer to change his wife’s mind about Chicago. Money talks. If the Sox were so confident in Wheeler being the best starter target, they should have gone the extra yard to sign him. Instead, they wasted millions on their second target and we all know how that ended up. Epic fail. Meanwhile, Wheeler is still an ace and on his second contract with the Phillies. I’m not giving any credit to the Sox for whiffing on Wheeler. That’s a joke. ?
  6. Oh God, not with this BS again. Nothing counts until you actually sign the premier free agent. If the Sox truly had the top offer to Wheeler and wanted him so badly, did they offer him a bit more money to change his wife’s mind? I mean, after all, they ended up paying their alternative signing (Keuchel) not to pitch later on. This isn’t spin. The Sox either signed a guy or didn’t. This “almost” BS is just that. BS. Giving credit to the Sox for missing out on their target is laughable.
  7. You have to back to Ozzie in 2011 to find a Sox manager that ever coached again after the Sox. And his was a short failed stint with the Marlins. Before that it was Jerry Manuel who coached the Mets after the Sox.
  8. As they should be. At least Getz has a clue here.
  9. Normally I wouldn’t make fun of Sosa looking like a vampire now because there are people with skin conditions that do this sort of thing. But I believe he actually admitted to bleaching his skin to make himself whiter.
  10. Says the guy who is penciling in guys like Julks and possibly Fletcher into his starting lineup going forward…
  11. Which is amazing considering his record these past couple years.
  12. Yep, it’s almost as bad as calling an entire message board of posters “a bunch of know-it-alls.” ?
  13. I think this makes sense. 2027 at the very earliest but that’s if the trade returns for all of the outgoing players are hit on. If not, push the year ahead.
  14. Haha, what was the slot machine call? I missed that one.
  15. You are the one who just bashed everyone on this site for their opinions. By the way, it’s “you’re” and “know-it-alls”. “I would say most of SoxTalk hates him mainly because your all a bunch of no-it-alls.“
  16. It’s no one’s job on here to be a sports broadcaster (except maybe @Lip Man 1?). That doesn’t mean people can’t assess Schriffen for his absolute suckitude at the job. The Sox aren’t in first place because they have a garbage owner. The same terrible owner who picked a “yes man” like Schriffen to be the Sox new broadcaster. Yes, we as Sox fans can hate both the team and the new broadcaster because they both fucking suck.
  17. Yep, he’s basically turned himself into a clown meme in less than half a season. https://thespun.com/mlb/mlb-fans-calling-for-cringe-announcer-to-be-fired
  18. Agreed with most of what you said here. Reinsdorf is the problem. If sucks when you know the Sox will have a lot of money to spend but they will spread it out amongst a bunch of C level free agents. I’m more excited to see the trade returns for Robert, Crochet, Fedde, Kopech, etc. because the Sox have a shot at better players in these returns than the guys they will sign in the offseason.
  19. My favorite. The trade obviously worked out but it would’ve been awesome if they could’ve kept Cameron and traded others for Konerko.
  20. Not writing off these guys but isn’t it strange how they falter coming over to our farm system? The stink has unfortunately never left this organization. And yes, the offseason was terrible. But the Sox offseason strategy never really changes so I expect more of the same next offseason.
  21. Tim Anderson = 2024 White Sox Jose Ramirez = every other team
