Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
WhiteSox2023 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’d take him for Benintendi just because it would be one less year of a bad contract. It seems like people are missing this. Three more years of garbage Benintendi or two more years of garbage Walker? Benintendi does nothing for the Sox the next three years. And how would Benintendi have to perform for some team to actually pick up most of his contract in a salary dump trade? -
Giants sign SS Willy Adames — 7-years, $182M
WhiteSox2023 replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it’s where the Sox will be shopping until Jerry is gone, regardless of where the team is at competitively. I think it’s funny that you would assume I thought the Sox should’ve been looking to sign Adames. Even if they were competitive, the Sox aren’t spending $182 million on anyone any time soon. 5-years / $75 million. Record-setting. ‘Nuff said… -

Where did I ever say that this signing would make sense for the Sox? Jerry and Getz will be sticking with the bargain bin regardless of the situation. -

Look beyond errors. Gunnar Henderson had 25 errors last year — would you want him? Also, a .766 OPS from a SS is good, especially one that provides both power and good defense. He’s put up 21.5 WAR in his career. Some people thought Tim Anderson was a star and he has a lifetime .718 OPS. But I’m sure Jerry would agree with your thoughts on free agent spending. -

He’s averaged 4 WAR each year throughout his career. But yes, the money is bonkers. Jerry and Getz will be sticking with the bargain bin. -

Soto is expected to sign within the next 48 hours now that Willy Adames has signed with the Giants. -

Comparing the White Sox to the Yankees is a bit disingenuous. The Yankees will actually spend money on free agents which can cover for many drafting and developing failures they may have. Jerry refuses to do so. So when the Sox fail at drafting and development, the only way they can acquire talent is by trading established players for prospects that hit or the once every few years good cheap signing of a guy like Fedde, considering whomever the White Sox GM is at the time is mostly dumpster diving each and every offseason. It’s simply not enough for any success, much less sustained success.

It’s probably more about the years and money than the performance of either Benintendi or Walker at this point. And definitely to Jerry. -

One less year of a bloated contract with Walker at least. -
I love the fake quotes gimmick… Meanwhile, still crying? 😢

Yep, highly offensive and worthy of follow-up replies whining about it. 😭

You mentioned prospect names like Montgomery, Larson, and Taylor. There have been hyped up prospect names in the past that didn’t pan out, just like how some of these guys won’t. I’ll wait and see when they are successful major leaguers. Otherwise, it doesn’t mean all that much. MLB results matter, not prospect hype. And the Sox have still not proven that they can draft and develop position players.

Not if 2008 was the end of those 3 years. -

You sound like an insider. You should start an X account. I suggest “Lou Malnati’s Deep Dish” as your profile name. I don’t think that one has been taken yet. -
It’s all valid. The Sox have historically been terrible at drafting in the 2nd round, as well as drafting position players in general. There’s a reason the Sox lineup is absolutely terrible right now. The same organization that thought Fletcher and Vargas would be good acquisitions is ultimately in charge of drafting players. Like I said, I’ll believe the Sox drafting of position players has improved when I see the results. And note, I do think the Sox have been pretty good at drafting pitchers.

Definitely funnier. Even funnier considering the mayor colluded with the teacher who hid the gun in her rolls along with Jerry to cover up the story.

Getz IS a bad GM, and that would be talking White Sox baseball. Ripping on the forum itself is not talking White Sox baseball.
-
Yep. The same reason Harbaugh wasn’t even considered is the same reason a guy like Belichek won’t be considered either. The losers at the top have overinflated opinions of their skills and talents and refuse to cede power to anyone that is probably way better than them at this football thing.

Neither is Don Quixote.

Brings you back to your teen heartthrob, just like the rest of us.

Your last few posts all have the same theme of ripping on this forum. If you don’t enjoy this message board as much as you have stated in your last four posts, you do have the option of not reading or posting on this forum at all. Or, I guess you can continue to read this forum and make post after post about how much you hate this place. Makes a lot of sense…

Doh, you’re right. Jerry bought the Bulls in 1985, a year after Jordan was drafted. So he’s an even worse owner than I thought.

Was going to say… pretty risqué photo there. I also didn’t know what Nancy Faust looked like back in the day…
