  1. It’s going to be ugly all season. At what point will the good starters go apeshit without any run support?
  2. Nicky with the light tower power, haha. Go take some laps for hitting it in the air Nicky.
  3. It’s probably way more on Jerry than Getz. He wanted to cut payroll a ton and it was probably agreed upon with Getz even before his promotion. There’s a reason Jerry telegraphed and hyped up a bum like David Eckstein as his favorite player during the Getz press conference, and that’s exactly the type of players Getz acquired (DeJong, Lopez).
  4. Amazing start by Crochet and that he went 6 innings and 87 pitches. No surprise that this offense is as putrid as most smart fans anticipated and that Kopech can’t throw strikes to save his life whether he’s a starter or reliever.
  5. Tim Anderson’s bounce-back was the most obvious thing ever and he is going to far outperform DeJong.
  6. I did the payroll math a few days ago and came up with the same as you. They went from $181 million opening day payroll last year to $126 million opening day payroll this year. Dropped $55 million. Crazy. Getz is going to get a nice Christmas bonus from Jerry at the end of the year.
  7. Sure, but he’s a 24 year old lefty outfielder with pretty good minor league stats and he performed pretty well this ST. He is nothing like a 35 year old outfielder in Pillar that no team but the Sox would give heavy playing time to.
  8. Adolis Garcia was designated for assignment by two teams (Cardinals and Rangers) and any other team could have claimed him each time but didn’t. Smith-Njigba may be nothing but teams’ scouts aren’t always right.
  9. Let’s pick him the hell up please. Sure, he may amount to nothing but what is the risk? Beggars shouldn’t be choosy. Couldn’t they just cut Jesse Scholtens (torn UCL) from the 40-man roster and claim Smith-Njigba?
  10. Agreed, I’d rather drink beer. But I wouldn’t mind trying some of that shake and eating some of the top off of it.
  11. The two key improvements I see in Getz over Hahn are that he is smart enough to realize that defense is important and that he needs to acquire as much pitching talent as he can because many will obviously bust. Hahn didn’t give a crap about defense and he also thought his work was done once he found 5 legitimate starters. He never accounted for injuries. However, I am also not a fan of what Getz apparently values in position players so far. It reminds me too much of Kenny and his love for “grinders” over talent. For this team to ever be in competition again, it needs good players with more than just leadership and defensive skills.
  12. I disagree. S’mores are awesome. The graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, and melted chocolate on the cup are the main appeal. Otherwise, it’s just a chocolate shake.
  13. Report back on how it is, after your food coma and nap.
  14. Not everyone in the mainstream media knows or even cares that Getz is obsessed with former Royals or that they would be the team that would give a terrible manager a contract extension based on some ridiculously minor improvement.
  15. So it looks like we are average in March. Perhaps, “mired in mediocrity”, one could say.
  16. Remember how awesome we thought our post-rebuild lineups would look on paper? It never panned out but now the bottom half of our lineup is DeJong, Pillar, Maldonado, and Lopez — literally bench players on almost any other MLB team.
  17. You may think he sucks but he’s spot on here. 65 wins sounds about right and he definitely has his pulse on the White Sox and Getz with the ex-Royals acquisitions joke.
  18. Sure does. But honestly, I don’t think $15 dollars is even that bad considering ballpark prices and inflation. What is a beer or soda? $10+ dollars these days? A large crappy shake at McDonald’s will cost you $5 bucks and that thing looks way more amazing. You can probably feel your blood sugar levels rising while you are eating it.
  19. Maybe not. @WestEddy made a good point that Grossman’s defense is Sheets-like in RF, but I guess that hasn’t stopped them from starting Sheets in RF. However, they will still need Pillar to back up CF. Ideally, Grossman tears it up at AAA and they can somehow fit both Pillar and Grossman on the roster. It’s too bad no one else can back up 1B because Sheets is the guy who should be in AAA. Grossman and Pillar are old and may be done but they have both hit lefties fairly well in their careers and it could make some sense if they are in LF and RF respectively against left-handed starters, with Robert in CF, Eloy at DH, and Benintendi on the bench.
