Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
WhiteSox2023 replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, it needed to be said. And now Schriffen sure looks like a winner after the team he was whining about swept the Sox twice in one week. -
Getz, not Hahn or Kenny, but Getz and only Getz had a horrible offseason and his frantic and ill-advised 40-man roster decisions in an attempt to fix things when those efforts are quite obviously futile have only made things worse. Anyone who doesn’t see this and can’t admit it must be blindly supporting Getz. Our GM is making decisions like a meth addict who ran out of his stash.

This guy is becoming the Hawk Harrelson of repeating the same quotes, rather than catch phrases, to the media.

More fresh meat for the grinder…
-
Cue the picture… @Quin knows what I’m talking about. ?
-
I didn’t watch or follow this one, thank god. I hope Schriffen made sure to call out all of the haters today. What did the Sox end up having for the Twins, as he put it? Laying down and getting swept by them in two series in only one week? Maybe he will learn to zip it from now on.
-
Definitely sounds like a perfect fit…
-
The Angels aren’t even a good team but it just goes to show how low the Sox are. The Sox sign Pillar to be a platoon starter in RF and backup CF. The Angels only sign Pillar after they lose one of the best outfielders in baseball to injury.

Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
WhiteSox2023 replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Twins are now on the verge of sweeping the Sox for the second time in a week. Perhaps Schriffen should stay quiet and realize that he is defending a 6-24 team entirely too hard. He hasn’t even been here for a year and he’s already another one of JR’s puppets. -
Getz is the one keeping Grifol employed.
-
Imagine fluffing your own awful signing of a 37 year old catcher with a .347 OPS for $4.5 million who should’ve retired before last season.
-
A good way to protect his resume. ?
-
Great post. I didn’t even use that angle!
-
Is it a surprise he is doing better with the Cubs, who have better minor league instructors than the Sox? Getz essentially turned Christian Mena and Matthew Thompson into Dominic Fletcher and cash. Where is Fletcher right now? Oh yeah, he was so bad he had to be sent to the minors. Getz is a bad GM.
-
After trading a 23 year old 2nd round starting pitcher for him, who is now having success with the Cubs.
-
No, he was not. So basically Getz made trades of prospects for older players, which also caused him to lose 40-man roster flexibility, which ultimately forced him to DFA or trade younger players for cash to make room for more veterans. I don’t see how anyone could defend how Getz has managed the 40-man roster at this point. It’s been a clusterfuck of stupid decisions.
-
You can’t make that stuff up. Impressive.
-
Jerry doesn’t want you creeping in his pocket.
-
Getz signs bunch of veterans in the offseason. The rationale is so he can give the younger players time to marinate in the minors. The Sox have a record poor start to the season. Getz freaks out and calls up young prospects that struggle. He also signs more veterans and cuts several young players from the 40-man roster to make room for these veterans. Getz is a terrible GM.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
WhiteSox2023 replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Unlike the discussions on whether to trade Cease during the offseason or the trade deadline, do we all agree that there is probably zero reason to not trade Fedde by this year’s trade deadline? -

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record

The calculations and metrics were apparently based on the pitcher and his location rather than the shortstop. That was the error.

Yep, not sure why anyone wants to see Reinsdorf escape the embarrassment of a historic losing record after sabotaging the initial rebuild with TLR and refusing to go all in on free agency (Machado/Harper) and then giving Getz the nepotism hire, saying they are a few moves away from being competitive, and then having Getz cut payroll by around $55 million. Let him wear it. He’s earned it.

It’s almost like Reinsdorf is telling Grifol and Schriffen what to say to deflect and detract against this awful season.
