  1. f*** it, sign both. At least it will give us something to watch. It can’t get much worse than it already is.
  2. Bears sign their likely starting center from the Rams. He’s about an average center.
  3. So awful. Duvall is so much better than Pillar. Don’t forget Randall Grichuk for $2 million. Also, Amed Rosario for $1.5 million, while Nicky Lopez is being paid $4.3 million.
  4. But at what point do you give up on him being a starter? He’s a free agent in 2026. He’s been mediocre to bad as a starter. He was best as a reliever in 2021. If they can turn him into a stud closer or high leverage reliever, they can get something in return for him at least.
  5. Exactly. Bauer was not found guilty of anything, same as Clevinger. Bauer would also be even cheaper. He said he would take a minor league invite. We may go to hell, but the rotation could be decent. LOL!
  6. May as well sign Bauer too while we are at it.
  7. So who takes the spot in the rotation? Lorenzen or someone else?
  8. It probably does. This is big news. Does this mean Getz is near signing Lorenzen, or is another Sox starter taking the spot?
  9. Reylo DID develop here. Madrigal is what he is but he actually hit well here, better here than with the Cubs. Eloy is always injured so we have never found out if he has a 40 HR season in him.
  10. Sure they have. I never argued that it isn’t possible. But we sure haven’t seen this from Flexen, Soroka, and Fedde in the MLB. So there is no data supporting what you are saying, specific to the three pitchers that you cited. You are speaking in hypotheticals and these three starters have done nothing to support your argument. They do not have any recent track record of success like you stated.
  11. That’s called a track record of success in the MLB, didn’t you know? ?
  12. So once again, you provide no data to prove your terribly weak point and resort to your same shtick of asking why people are a fan of this team and name-calling how someone must be horrible at a party. Did you miss public speaking / debate class in high school? Your arguments are pathetic. You stated that Flexen, Soroka, and Fedde do indeed have a track record of success. Show it to me.
  13. Flexen has had more bad years than good. Soroka has been ruined by injury. Fedde has one year of success in a different league and a 5.40 ERA in the MLB. Where are you seeing this track record of success for these guys?
  14. I think he will either be the closer or a very high leverage reliever.
  15. You would be correct. Sport Guy made an appearance to s%*# in everyone.
  16. Yes. He cares about money more than winning. He only wants to win his way, by spending what he thinks is appropriate.
  17. And they were replaced with more MLB proven suck. All they have is more potential than the guys you mentioned, but no track records of success. Also, one of the guys you mentioned (Kopech) is still in the rotation, and he hasn’t shown any signs of improving as a starting pitcher.
  18. Your comps are simply lazy and not even close to being similar to Thorpe. You just threw out the names of two highly drafted Sox prospects that you remembered had lower velocity fastballs and busted out. Lance Broadway had a 5.01 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 10.32 H/9, and 6.29 K/9 in the minors. Kyle McCulloch had a 4.64 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 10.54 H/9, and 5.00 K/9 in the minors. Basically, they were never even good in the minors and were destined for failure in the majors. The Sox overdrafted these guys because JR preferred drafting college pitchers that were supposedly more of a finished product, more projectable to make the rotation, and had no signability issues. He always preferred being safe in the draft and taking backend rotation guys over pitchers with the best pure stuff. Meanwhile, Drew Thorpe currently has a 2.52 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 6.39 H/9, and 11.76 K/9 in the minors. Not even close to the bums you mentioned.
  19. If you watch the video at this link, JJ Cooper of BA seems to disregard AJP’s report of Thorpe throwing 88 MPH as no big deal due to it being Spring Training and he’s likely not going at full force yet. Cooper says he normally sits at 91-92.
  20. Now that he’s probably the third best starter left after Snell and Montgomery, with Cease traded, and a much cheaper option than the other two free agents, he’s probably trying to see the max dollars he can get on a 1-2 year contract with the other teams that need a starter (Yankees, Rangers, Giants).
  21. Maybe, but he’s neither very young (27) nor are his minor league numbers very good. And I know I am a broken record with this but why the hell didn’t the Sox claim Canaan Smith-Njigba instead? A 24 year old lefty corner outfielder with very good minor league numbers. He also had an .860 OPS this spring with 3 homers and 2 stolen bases. Brutal decision making by Getz there.
  22. That has been going on for a lot longer than 4 years, just not always consecutively.
