  1. That goes two ways though — it proves that not all of Baltimore’s prospects will pan out but it also will make their trade for Burnes look better.
  2. I think that is the difference between this rebuild and the first one. We had some top prospects in the top 50 overall of baseball but we didn’t have much of a quantity of lesser but still quality prospects. It seems like we have more options now, but I guess we will have to see if this batch pans out.
  3. Garland threw around 92. Sinkerballs were his game. But I remember him throwing 95-96 during his playoff starts in 2005, after he had gotten additional rest I believe.
  4. He hated Hahn and has been hyping Getz ever since he was rumored to be in line for the new GM spot. I understand he likes Getz but it almost feels like he went so all in on Getz that he can’t change his tune now and has to claim that every move he makes is great one. I can’t buy it if someone can’t admit that many of Getz’s dumpster diving acquisitions this offseason were an absolute joke. I don’t buy the never-ending leadership benefits and “showing the young guys the right way to play” BS. Most of these over-the-hill scrubs will be gone in a year. Does their leadership magically stay with the team once they are gone?
  5. Make this dude the closer, give him every save opportunity possible, and see what prospect(s) you can deal him for. Add that to the return on this trade. “Padres Rookie Right-Hander Steven Wilson Has a Captivating Pitch Profile“
  6. Exactly, and if anyone actually bought what Jerry was selling in that media conference to announce Getz as the new GM, they need to have their head checked.
  7. Shouldn’t you be more worried about your team’s injuries and your new starter acquisition looking like a tee ball stand this spring?
  8. How many times were Kenny and Hahn wrong before they were fired? JR has made countless dumb decisions but he isn’t going to fire himself. If Grifol is still the Sox manager, I’m sure Getz has many years to prove himself, or his failure.
  9. ? I’m still laughing. There’s a reason they hate this guy even at his own message board.
  10. At least we got another starter with a porn stache to replace Cease’s.
  11. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some truth to this as well. We all know how JR feels about signing free agent pitchers to multi-year contracts. It doesn’t happen. The proven is, position players are getting more and more money as well. So who will the Sox ever sign in free agency other than over-the-hill veterans?
  12. I think $200 to $500 million dollar deals has changed the game. Teams don’t want to give up their top prospects if they are also rated top 50 prospects in the MLB. They know they can’t afford to buy these potentially top players in free agency so they are more willing to give up a larger quantity package of their slightly lower rated prospects in trades.
  13. There is also risk appetite and I don’t think Getz had enough of it to go into the season and risk injury with Cease pitching until the trade deadline. I wouldn’t have had it either.
  14. I have no doubt it is, and that Robert will be the last big bullet dealt to bolster the new rebuild.
  15. Unfortunately we wouldn’t have that benefit.
  16. In the past few years, teams have been more and more reluctant to give up their top prospects as they watch the prices for top free agents skyrocket.
  17. Maybe in 2-3 years. Pretty obvious that is the plan.
  18. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the plan so they can turn him into another decent prospect or two.
  19. His team has already been the laughing stock of the MLB, and it’s more due to JR, Kenny, and Hahn than Getz.
