  1. Half the roster is already cooked, but they still have to field a team. ?
  2. I think it’s a combination of “Poles got his guy”, he didn’t want to potentially lose out on Bates to other interested teams, and he also thinks Bates can be an above average center on a cheap contract, rather than overspending to bring in a legitimate starting center. We will have to wait to find out if Poles was correct in his assessment. I don’t really think he was duped by the Bills. The facts were out there — Bates started for the Bills two seasons ago but he was on the bench last season. So either Poles sees something in Bates that the Bills didn’t, or Poles is wrong and Bates is just a backup quality OL. A fifth rounder is not a massive loss. Many fifth round picks end up being cut anyways. Now Poles’ trade of the first pick in the second round for a lazy bum WR will forever be his legacy if he fails to get the job done with the Bears.
  3. Maybe one day it will happen. But am just assuming that our Dark Sith Lord will outlast Soto hitting free agency.
  4. Konerko is right. Vaughn is definitely not a home run hitter. ? Konerko could probably outhit Vaughn right now.
  5. The Sox are starting the same type of player at SS, 2B, and catcher as well. You shouldn’t be surprised.
  6. “Our current ballpark will never be profitable. We need one billion to fund our new ballpark. Damn cheap Sox fans…”
  7. I think his cerebral palsy impacts his eyesight.
  8. If DeJong was just a bad hitter last year, I’d have some faith in a turnaround. But he’s been awful with the bat since the end of the 2019 season. He is what he is.
  9. Is that the new announcer Schriffen on Eloy’s home run? Whomever said he was going to have calls that sound like he is still announcing SlamBall was spot on.
  10. Per Brad Biggs, Ryan Bates is our new starting center.
  11. Moe = JR Larry = Getz Curly = Grifol ?
  12. Too old for the Sox next window of competition, or gave up too much to acquire them?
  13. Colas can be as happy as he wants. There is no victory unless Colas hits in the majors like he hit in the minors. Otherwise, he’s just another failed Cuban player.
  14. You are going overboard. If the Sox won the division this year or any year, Sox fans would be ecstatic, including the negative fans. The reason there are so many negative Sox fans is because the Sox have only won their mediocre division 3 times in the last 20+ years. Is that good enough for you?
  15. Sarcasm? Or do you think the Sox have a chance at signing Juan Soto, a Boras client, when he hits free agency in 2025 at the age of 27? You have a better chance of winning the lottery.
  16. Agreed. Acquired for a really nice player in Adam Eaton but it turned out to be probably one of the best trades in Sox history. Giolito was a really good pitcher for the Sox and he also brought back a nice prospect return last year. The Sox sure know when to trade their top pitchers. They must have learned their lesson from the John Danks extension.
  17. But the offense is known and it’s bad.
  18. Great post. I think you nailed it.
  19. More fuel for JR to never sign another big name starter.
  20. I wonder if he’s starting at RG or center. I would guess center since Lucas Patrick is terrible. This tells me that they aren’t drafting OL at #9.
  21. DeJong, Lopez, and Maldonado?
  22. Of course they do. Only manager and team in baseball that would start these guys.
  23. It’s just so ugly actually seeing it on paper. 44% of the lineup is putrid. It’s even worse if Vaughn doesn’t finally have a breakout season, and is just his usual mediocre self.
