  1. Bernstein sounded like a way more biased and jaded asshole than Holmes. Bernstein only cares what this will do for the city of Chicago and not the White Sox. Holmes is worried about all the Bridgeport area fans losing the ballpark.
  2. He basically said he’ll be back once Reinsdorf is replaced as owner.
  3. Guys who are playing for their careers are usually often injured or not good players, which typically equates to a bad season.
  4. Just imagine a bad breakup. We will all be treated to a new solo by Taylor with lyrics about some football player that was a real asshole and had a small package. With every bad breakup, she gets new song material. But I still don’t understand the Chiefs hate, regardless of Taylor. Mahomes could’ve and should’ve been a Bear. Would Mahomes have been as successful with the Bears as the Chiefs? Who knows. But I can’t hate on Mahomes just because the Bears picked Trubisky over him.
  5. I agree. My last sentence was, “He’s not signing an extension with any team so health and quality performance are his two biggest concerns.” But I don’t think he is going to overexert himself in Spring Training for scouts.
  6. Yes, they lowered the guaranteed money and made his deal more incentive-based because of whatever “red flag” they saw. If he truly “failed” the physical, the Dodgers could have nullified the deal completely and signed someone else.
  7. His fastball velocity early in ST would mean nothing, as guys are just ramping themselves up slowly to get their arms back in shape. Also, Cease’s main concern is staying healthy for free agency in two years. It doesn’t matter all that much where he pitches for the next two years and he can’t control it anyways. He’s not going to overextend himself to impress any scouts for a trade that mostly benefits the White Sox, and not him. He’s not signing an extension with any team so health and quality performance are his two biggest concerns.
  8. The fact that Clevinger hasn’t signed anywhere makes me think his rep is truly bad around baseball, and not just for the abuse allegations. He was pretty good last year.
  9. The only way it would matter if is he gets hurt just warming up for the season and throwing bp.
  10. This guy is the pitcher version of Eloy/Moncada. Pretty good when healthy but never healthy.
  11. Apparently, Getz is asking a lot for Cease, heh.
  12. Yep. Young corner OF at 24, lefty, with pretty good minor league numbers.
  13. Like @Lip Man 1 said, teams without massive payrolls can still win in the regular season, and have done so recently. And this is a Sox board, afterall, so I chose to make the comparison, since they have failed miserably with relatively high payrolls in recent history. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/04/06/mlb-team-payrolls-2023-highest-lowest-mets/11612107002/ MLB team playrolls in 2023 N.Y. Mets, $353,546,854 N.Y. Yankees, $276,999,872 San Diego, $248,995,932 Philadelphia, $243,009,439 L.A. Dodgers, $222,717,834 L.A. Angels, $212,228,096 Toronto, $ 209,938,983 Atlanta, $203,077,500 Texas, $195,869,490 Houston, $192,667,233 San Francisco, $187,932,500 Chicago Cubs, $184,219,250 Boston, $181,207,484 Chicago White Sox, $181,158,666 St. Louis, $175,637,308 Colorado, $171,108,778 Minnesota, $153,588,740 Seattle, $137,119,947 Detroit, $122,235,500 Milwaukee, $118,761,987 Arizona, $116,471,292 Washington, $ 101,190,153 Kansas City, $92,468,100 Miami, $91,700,000 Cleveland, 89,424,629 Cincinnati, $83,610,000 Pittsburgh, $73,277,500 Tampa Bay, $73,184,811 Baltimore, $60,722,300 Oakland, $56,895,000
  14. So you don’t think that a new park accessible by three different color/route CTA trains rather than just one, along with two Metra stations via boat taxi would not perhaps increase the number of Sox fans that would commute to the new ballpark location? Also, what is a picture of the 78 site right now supposed to show anyone? What a barren undeveloped site looks like before the work is done? You have been proven wrong on this topic so many times with each post that you have made on it from the beginning. First, you said it was never going to happen due to soil and foundation issues, yet multiple news articles came out adding some serious steam to this being a real possibility. There are also rumors that JR is much further along with this plan than you would apparently want to believe. The mayor has commented on it. Manfred has commented on it. Now you have changed your tune again to saying a ballpark in the location just doesn’t make any sense to happen for your own weak and biased reasons (parking and tailgating). Read the tea leaves for cripes sake. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
  15. Why do we even need to talk about salary caps? These are needless excuses for the Sox being perennial losers. The Sox have had payrolls that were more than high enough to sustain winning the pathetic AL Central many more times than they achieved in the past 20 years. It was just $181 million last year. There are teams (Rays and now Orioles) that play in a much more difficult division that have been successful over the years with less money to spend. The problem was, is, and likely forever will be that the owner puts the wrong people in charge of managing his team. He values and promotes based on loyalty rather than results.
  16. Sure is. I remember his glove was always bad but wasn’t he hyped to be an almost sure thing with his bat?
  17. For Orioles fans, much like Sox fans, it’s hard to see a change being worse. The Orioles have had a pathetically low payroll for years but a good front office. We have a higher payroll but an owner that hires the wrong front office people and keeps them employed for far too long.
  18. You guys are nuts. Getz pounced at the beginning of the offseason with the Bummer trade and the DeJong signing. How many other teams acquired their star infield tandem in November?
  19. JR Venmoed Boob a $20 right after this interview.
  20. No, I think many people feel the same way.
  21. The Mariners better dare not steal Getz’s beloved Whit from him.
  22. Boras has no control over this, unless he tells Cease to fake an injury.
  23. I hope the 49ers destroy the Chiefs and put an end to the Swiftie Nation.
