  1. First round pick, mediocre minor league numbers. Worth a shot though.
  2. Stone and Schriffen talking about how the ballpark will be livelier once it heats up. Please shut up. This lineup blows.
  3. Is there a reason the Sox continually do this and play games with one less man? So they save money by not making the transaction and playing down a man?
  4. Hey Now! See Ya! Southside Stand Up! This guy is quickly becoming like Hawk, without the long periods of silence when the Sox are sucking. But one could build a soundboard of his calls.
  5. I believe SSHM may have been referring to this excerpt, assuming a recommendation was made for Clevinger by the joint treatment boards, but it doesn’t state that one was made.
  6. It’s nice to hear Reinsdorf and the Sox get called out publicly for their dysfunctional management of the team.
  7. Mully and Haugh on The Score are clowning the Sox about first base coach Jason Bourgeois being AWOL. They both think he had the runs. They just played audio of the Braves broadcast in which they shredded the Sox for not having a first base coach ready, as you can listen to in the video posted above.
  8. I think your Nastrini point makes some sense. But guys like Soroka, Fedde, and Flexen need to prove they deserve to be in the majors regardless of anything Clevinger adds to the team.
  9. You are correct. They are currently ranked 19th in baseball with a team ERA of 4.75, 1.42 WHIP, and .259 BAA. https://www.mlb.com/stats/team/pitching?sortState=asc
  10. I took it to mean that the Sox made this offer awhile ago and Clevinger thought he could do better so he kept waiting. Finally, Clevinger accepted it because he received no better offers. But yes, that would pretty much mean the Sox offer was the highest offer.
  11. Do you trust this terrible offense managed by numbskull Grifol to ever win many close games? That’s the problem.
  12. Only Carrot Top is still available to manage the Sox. The other two guys are deceased.
  13. So how does this happen? It appears that Grifol and the rest of the team didn’t notice it right away and Jason Bourgeois obviously didn’t let anyone know that he ate too many spicy tacos last night and was going to be on the shitter for an extended period of time. But all they had to do was sub in another coach to man first base while Bourgeois was dealing with his diarrhea. Great communication on this coaching staff.
  14. Ah, this season’s fall guy, just like how Hahn and Kenny were at the end of last season. Makes sense.
  15. Ironically, my son just told me Brother Rice is renovating their entire baseball field in the near future. I wonder if the Sox will keep pace and get their new park.
  16. ? You forgot about Julio Urias. Clevinger and Bauer would have to make a trip over to his house as well.
  17. Merkin has posted a story about this unofficial signing. No excerpt about the accusations from last year. “Clevinger returning to White Sox on 1-year deal (source)”
  18. Loss records don’t matter to me. 50 to 70 wins. It’s all bad and doesn’t get you to competing for anything.
  19. Hope you are doing well. This is worse than I expected but the irony of baseball is that they lost 3 straight 1 run games and could be 3-1 right now instead of 0-4. The problem is that they don’t have the lineup to win these tight games and they have just about the worst manager in baseball that won’t make the right decisions for them to win any of these close games.
  20. Clevinger’s accuser dropped her lawsuit last year. Clevinger, Reinsdorf, and/or Getz won’t be addressing anything regarding last year’s accusations, resolution, and follow-up. As far as anyone is concerned at this point, Clevinger isn’t guilty of anything and the MLB cleared him to play.
  21. I tend to agree. Reinsdorf and Getz know the team is going to suck regardless. The offseason was all about cutting payroll. Is Jerry really going to want to eat Grifol’s salary and pay another manager for this year? But I guess it may not matter much if Grifol is getting paid near what he is worth. ?
  22. This isn’t exactly true. Yes, Clevinger was injured leading up to the trade deadline but he returned for a start against the Guardians on 7/29/2023, three days before the trade deadline. It was a good start and a win for him — 5 innings, 2 hits, 3 strikeouts, no walks, and no runs. He was healthy enough to trade with three days remaining before the deadline and teams have actually traded for injured players at the deadline before anyways, so that wasn’t the issue. There was less time for teams to assess Clevinger since his return start was just three days before the deadline, but surely starter-needy teams would have pounced on Clevinger + cash for a mediocre prospect if there was any interest throughout the MLB.
