New $15 Campfire milkshake leads MLB food debuts
WhiteSox2023 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sure does. But honestly, I don’t think $15 dollars is even that bad considering ballpark prices and inflation. What is a beer or soda? $10+ dollars these days? A large crappy shake at McDonald’s will cost you $5 bucks and that thing looks way more amazing. You can probably feel your blood sugar levels rising while you are eating it. -
Maybe not. @WestEddy made a good point that Grossman’s defense is Sheets-like in RF, but I guess that hasn’t stopped them from starting Sheets in RF. However, they will still need Pillar to back up CF. Ideally, Grossman tears it up at AAA and they can somehow fit both Pillar and Grossman on the roster. It’s too bad no one else can back up 1B because Sheets is the guy who should be in AAA. Grossman and Pillar are old and may be done but they have both hit lefties fairly well in their careers and it could make some sense if they are in LF and RF respectively against left-handed starters, with Robert in CF, Eloy at DH, and Benintendi on the bench.

Obviously it’s a surgical procedure which is never good for a pitcher, but isn’t it almost somewhat beneficial for a team that wants to retain a Rule 5 pick when this happens? Makes it easier to keep the Rule 5 pick?

You think a depth chart is going to stop Grifol from doing something stupid? Sheets is seeing RF again this season.

While he’s on the air, he should slam that new chocolate shake, get it all over himself, and give both Jerry and Brooks Boyer the double middle finger salute, just like this guy.

Poll: Predict Final Win Total for the 2024 Chicago White
WhiteSox2023 replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ozzie has them at 62 wins. Chuck picked 70. -
They just lost Eduardo Rodriguez to a left lat strain so this makes some sense. The option vests if Montgomery starts at least 10 games during the 2024 season.

Curious to see the money. Surprised the Yankees didn’t pounce.

Chavez, as old as he is, tends to put up good numbers in the regular season. I’m sure many posters wanted to see him make the bullpen.

I haven’t seen one mock draft that doesn’t have MHJ as the first WR off the board. I looked up Mike Tannenbaum and he doesn’t appear to have any Chicago / Bears ties. I assumed he was a Bears fan with this goofy mock. -
Yes, I do. However, I find it even more entertaining when someone thinks that an offseason in which the Sox GM rebuilt the bottom half of their starting lineup into a terrible combination of bench players in DeJong, Lopez, Maldonado, and Fletcher/Pillar is a good one. It’s like they are actually buying what Grifol is trying to sell, which would definitely be sticking one’s head in the sand and ignoring all factual data — objective things like recent stats for these players, age causing their decline, etc.

So what does being overly optimistic about the rotation, for example, do for you? I don’t need a crystal ball to tell me that the rotation is not going to be good and another poster spelled it all out on the previous page. Is it better to have high hopes and then be disappointed? I believe you predicted 68 wins for this team. That is a bad record. Chances are if their record is that bad, the rotation will not have performed well like you expected it to.

Is being 100% positive all the time any better? Just seems like you are sticking your head in the sand, ignoring all logic and reason, and lying to yourself.

Montgomery was drafted by the Yankees and played the first 5+ years of his career there. The Yankees are expected to be a contender while the Sox are expected to be a last place team. It’s great that you hate New York but if any team would have to overpay Montgomery to play for them, it would be the Sox.

It will provide even more fat cushion protection from the stray bullets hitting anyone else.
