  1. Competition (fodder) for Brett Phillips for Sox defensive backup outfielder.
  2. Slappy outfielder Steven Kwan has a higher career OPS in the majors (.740) than first baseman Andrew Vaughn (.735). But hey, maybe those college numbers will translate for Vaughn someday…
  3. Boras using his loyal servant Heyman to get teams to up their offers for Snell.
  4. Disaster zone. Watching every Cease start for an entire first half hoping nothing bad happens (poor performance or injury). Not for the faint of heart.
  5. No one knows what the offers for Cease are. Maybe Getz is truly asking for a ridiculous return? We don’t know. The other possibilities are: (3) Cease pitches worse in 2024 than he did in 2023 and the trade offers for him drop even further. (4) Cease suffers a severe injury and the Sox get absolutely nothing for him. Sox completely waste the asset of two years of control of a healthy Cease.
  6. True, I always thought that the Pirates took back less in the way of prospects in that deal to get back Musgrove, who they wanted to replace Cole. But it also goes to show that prospects barely pan out, which is why I guess it makes sense that Getz is sticking to his guns for a highly rated return.
  7. Knowing that he currently has only two big trade chips to move, I would be shocked if Getz has the balls to retain Cease into the season, risk injury, and truly get nothing at all for him, rather than some highly rated prospects that may or may not pan out, just like all prospects.
  8. Sure, but you are using the benefit of hindsight to make the trade look worse than it was at the time. I could say the same about the White Sox/Red Sox Chris Sale trade. Moncada and Kopech turned into bums so it was a bad trade — “pretty much comparable to zero at the end of the day.” https://www.crawfishboxes.com/platform/amp/2018/1/15/16893418/diving-deep-into-the-astros-gerrit-cole-trade-pirates-musgrove-moran-feliz
  9. There are impactful transfers from other high schools on the way to BR. Coach Q is doing the work.
  10. And Busch also had a lot of time to marinate in the minors, while Vaughn was rushed. Busch was held back by his own defense (or lack thereof) and that the Dodgers were already stacked at every position. I would definitely put my money on Busch outhitting Vaughn next year. Vaughn hasn’t OPS’ed over .750 yet.
  11. Actually, risk getting zero if he suffers a bad injury.
  12. Ours fell apart even faster than those windows.
  13. Agreed. The biggest mistake of the offseason would be not trading Cease. Even with a guy who has stayed healthy in the big leagues (he got the TJ surgery out of the way when he was drafted), with typical awful Sox luck, you know he would suffer some sort of devastating injury if he pitches for the Sox in the first half.
  14. I realize you want pitching back in any trade involving Cease, but there was just an article that stated that Getz was now open to taking back the best package of prospects rather than focusing on getting pitching back.
  15. Agreed. Sweet name on him too. But don’t we already know that the Orioles aren’t going to do anything in free agency? If they do, it will be for someone cheap.
  16. I’m not saying it will happen but Mayo and Cowser seems to be closer to reality than your trade proposal. The media has been saying 2 top prospects and 2 lesser prospects.
  17. It’s pretty much a trade that works perfectly for both teams. The Dodgers needed to move Busch because he wasn’t going to play for them but he had some value. They got back a valuable pitching prospect in Ferris and cleared up the spots they needed on their 40-man roster. I’m sure both sides are happy.
  18. You know the Sox have absolutely zero reason to want Mountcastle, but you suggested this terrible and unrealistic trade idea anyways? The Sox already have a mediocre and younger righty 1B that Sox fans don’t want. I realize it’s your trade hope but it’s not even close to reality.
  19. Could have saved $4 million more by letting Sosa play 2B and non-tendering Lopez. ?
  20. Once again, Chapman. Obviously it doesn’t matter now. Just more of the same bad owner that never went the extra mile to win.
  21. I gave you an example in Chapman but I guess he wasn’t good enough. He was such a clubhouse cancer that he blew the World Series for the Cubs. Also, Santos was a complete unknown at the time. The Sox had no idea he would have a good season out of no where. Still, the point is that in a season the Sox were supposed to compete for the division, the Sox lost their Allstar closer in January and didn’t even attempt to replace him.
  22. Fields’ ability to read his receivers and react doesn’t come close to Josh Allen’s.
  23. The Cubs board I just looked at thinks that Ferris was a steep price and is a good bet to become a top pitching prospect with the Dodgers. They also think Busch’s bat is legit with the optimistic posters hoping he can stick at 3B and the realistic posters saying he will be a 1B/DH. Busch is absolutely horrible with the glove. However, the Cubs needed a 1B so it’s possible they pass on Rhys Hoskins in free agency now. They also don’t think Christopher Morel has the glove for 3B either so maybe he mostly DH’s and plays a little everywhere else. Maybe Hoyer goes after Matt Chapman next for some defense at 3B?
