  1. I think both of these make sense. The Braves are paying for almost all of Stassi’s salary. The Sox literally acquired him for a minimum salary price. #2 aligns with the rumors that the Sox are looking for a big pitching return, which is going to be annoying if they don’t get two positional prospects back for Cease.
  2. Agreed. In what will be a losing year, there isn’t any reason not to see what Korey Lee can do. One could argue that Maldonado could be traded at the deadline but realistically a 37 year old backup catcher isn’t going to bring anything back.
  3. The only positive. This rumored bad move came true which will prevent a much worse rumored move from happening.
  4. The White Sox way. Sprinkle in a couple overpriced reliever signings for no reason at all. Getz apparently learned from the best. Hahn is still haunting this team.
  5. Wrong. James Fox had it here first. Goes to show what the Sox think about KKKKKorey Lee, but he looks like he could hit just as poorly as a 37 year old Martin Maldonado.
  6. You have to truly dig deep to defend your new GM by saying he helped develop guys like Nicky Delmonico and Seby Zavala. Just think where the Sox record would’ve been in previous years without Getz helping to improve these fine young ballplayers.
  7. So what is the majority of Orioles fans’ view on Cowser and Kjerstad? I think most Sox fans would be happy with either one being included in a trade, both being lefty outfielders, with the ability to play a position that the Sox have neglected for years. Which one do most Orioles fans like more?
  8. Also, it would be nice to bring in an all new coaching staff prior to the draft and get their insight on which players they want, especially if they go with a QB at #1.
  9. I assume they would be of the cheap one year flier quality to hope they have a hot start and deal at the deadline. And if there’s one thing the Sox love to waste money on anyways, it’s relievers.
  10. Gotta add another defensive catcher, years past his prime. He will contribute to many 4-1 losses next year. I guess signing some relievers to one year deals makes sense to try to trade them at the deadline, since Hahn isn’t the one picking them now.
  11. Does Elias have full control or does old man Angelos meddle in his moves like Reinsdorf? I’m sure Elias is reluctant to trade prospects since he knows he won’t have the payroll to sign quality players in free agency, but I was just wondering he he has full control of baseball decisions or if ownership is breathing down his neck saying “don’t do that”.
  12. A minor league deal with the Braves? Leury went an entire season without being signed by a team last year after clearing waivers in Spring Training when the Sox cut him and had to pay out his entire awful contract gifted to him by Rick Hahn. Are you really considering this a win for your argument? If only the Sox had realized they had a useful player like Victor Reyes in the minors all last year! Guys like this are a dime a dozen for every team in baseball. I’m not even sure what you are arguing at this point? That having AAAA players lying around in the minors should be a metric to judge the performance of a GM?
  13. So who would you acquire to improve the team? Teams that are trying to compete don’t acquire Paul DeJong as their starting SS, Nicky Lopez as their starting 2B, and Max Stassi as their starting catcher. They may improve the defense but their offense is going to be downright offensive.
  14. Both KW and RH have milked enough money out of the Sox organization to last a lifetime. The only person who thought they were good at their jobs was Jerry. Even when he had to fire them, he still said he thought they could be the guys to turn the team around. Insane. I wouldn’t be surprised if neither of them have another meaningful job in baseball again. As far as Getz goes, I guess we have to hope that the same owner who thought KW and RH were proficient at their jobs just landed himself a savant GM.
  15. I’m sure they think that the list of utter bums you provided earlier as being “useful” is laughable at best.
  16. That’s sure is one massive pile of crap to describe as “useful”.
  17. One could argue that Kenny was ready for retirement so he may not currently be looking for a job. But how do you explain Hahn being jobless currently? Usually top front office talent gets nabbed up quickly. Perhaps the rest of baseball doesn’t view Hahn as you do? And let’s be honest, there wasn’t one other team in baseball that was going to hire Chris Getz as their GM.
  18. The risk of Cease getting injured between Spring Training and the trade deadline and getting a diminished or no return for him is not one worth taking. And if he suffers the dreaded TJ, we won’t be getting anything for him at all before he hits free agency. Getz has to get this done before Spring Training, period.
  19. Keep him and what? There is only one possible positive outcome from doing this. He reverts back to a true ace in the first half of 2024 for a team with no chance at competing for the division, and you trade him at the deadline. But at the same time, he will be losing months of control in a competitive team’s rotation. We all know there is zero chance that Reinsdorf will sign off on paying Cease. So what if he instead continues on as a #2 or #3 starter and diminishes his value further? He will have less months of control and he will have further declined in the eyes of other teams. I see no way that keeping Cease until next year’s trade deadline being worth the risk, rather than trading him now with two full seasons of control and one “down” year on his resume.
  20. Talk about not having your finger on the pulse of your own fan base. Brooks Boyer and Scott Reifert sure are top class at what they do. Amazing.
  21. The laughing parents makes it even funnier. At least they have some nice kindling for their fireplace.
  22. My son is a junior at Brother Rice and is a starter on the OL for the varsity football team. I just attended the parent meeting for the upcoming season and Coach Q announced that offensive coach Matt Kelly won’t be returning this year. Apparently not many people were fans of his conservative play calling.
