  1. Agreed, but you make a trade like this all day every day with the flakiness of relievers from year to year, as well as Santos’s ghost injury.
  2. To do the same thing the Sox did last year. Turn a guy into a tradeable asset with one good season and move him for a nice return like this one. Hopefully they can do the same thing with Leasure next season.
  3. OF defense should be amazing now. Benintendi — Robert — Fletcher/Pillar
  4. Hah, I feel the opposite. These two trades today have given me a little more faith in Getz as a GM. Dude needs to stay away from the free agent dumpster diving and make more trades. I guess I don’t see much in Mena. Doubt he ever makes the majors.
  5. Sure does. Similar swing. Looks like he has some sneaky power and will pull a lot of liners down the first base line for doubles and triples like Eaton did.
  6. Adam Eaton wasn’t bad for a little guy. https://venomstrikes.com/posts/diamondbacks-trade-dominic-fletcher-to-white-sox-for-cristian-mena-01hnrg4qp321
  7. Would be nice to see him rake in AAA. He could always replace Eloy at DH and be a part-time outfielder. Then, his defense wouldn’t be as much of a concern.
  8. Arizona Diamondbacks trade Dominic Fletcher to Chicago White Sox for pitching prospect
  9. Yep. Pretty obvious now. The reports that the Sox didn’t like his work ethic/attitude must be true.
  10. Fletcher. He’s 26 and ready right now. Dude could easily be a .300 hitter.
  11. Did Getz just turn into a good GM with these two trades?
  12. Does anyone think the Mariners were trying for a Cease and Santos package deal but they just settled on dealing Santos separately?
  13. Good rationalization by Getz. You don’t need a good closer (and one with questionable arm health) for a team like this one that is going to lose a lot of games.
  14. Best trade of Getz’s career. He peddled one year of success (and possibly an injured arm) for a nice return. We might actually have a lefty RF power bat. His strikeout rate isn’t very pretty though.
  15. They just signed Dinelson Lamet to a minor league contract. I’m sure they will also bring back Kershaw.
  16. If you look at the back of their baseball cards, it’s difficult to see any specific reason they were signed. ?
  17. The team needs veteran leaders that are also good baseball players, not a bunch of veteran leaders that are too old, can’t hit, and mostly flat out suck like the ones Getz acquired.
  18. .729 OPS last year. Assuming he is going to be a major leaguer is a big assumption.
  19. I didn’t include Fedde because he is on a two year deal and may actually return a prospect if he has a good first half or entire 2024. The rest of the acquisitions this offseason are one year deals for trash that won’t return anything in a trade. So yeah, more of the same offseason transactions, just like Kenny and Hahn. Numerous crappy signings that add up to a decent amount of money, rather than signing one or two good players that are actually difference makers with positive WAR.
