  1. It’s sad that they have to play the Rays game too. Even sadder how bad a much larger Sox payroll has been managed over the years in comparison.
  2. https://www.si.com/mlb/angels/news/angels-unlikely-to-sign-cody-bellinger-blake-snell-report-rks97
  3. Sure, we could all be wrong but no one here would’ve been happy with this same return for Cease. Hall may never be a starter with his poor walk rate and Ortiz may just be a glove first, slappy bat shortstop.
  4. Not too comparable of a scenario when you have a guy like Devin Williams ready to replace Hader at closer. Who do they have to replace Burnes in their rotation? DL Hall now?
  5. The Brewers were 92-70 last year. This was still a questionable decision to pretty much tank this season before it even starts, when they could’ve reassessed at the deadline. I understand they aren’t a high payroll team and can’t let guys go for nothing but I can’t imagine Brewers fans are very happy. I don’t think even JR would intentionally tank a season after winning the division the prior year.
  6. Would feel better about this happening if Snell signs somewhere and Montgomery goes back to Texas. But then again, who is going to sign Snell? Dude is on some bath salts with his current expectations. According to USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale in a story published Jan. 27, “Blake Snell’s lone offer was a six-year, $150 million deal from the New York Yankees after Snell requested $270 million over nine years.”
  7. Might not be Bing. China may have something against the Brewers.
  8. Burnes already avoided arbitration and agreed to one-year, $15.6375 million contract in early January. The Brewers already knew what he would cost in dollars.
  9. The Mariners giving up one of their starters (Woo or Miller) plus prospect(s) in a Cease trade still makes no sense to me. I don’t see that happening.
  10. Elias was just hyping up Hall as a starter long-term, even though he may break camp as a reliever. Should’ve known he was headed out the door.
  11. Yes, which to me is reasonable considering Cease has 2 years of control versus Burnes’ one.
  12. Hall may be nothing more than a long/middle reliever with his current walk rate.
  13. 306 pages was a good run but I think that this ballgame is over.
  14. This really makes me wonder what the offers were for Cease at last year’s trade deadline.
  15. Maybe, but we all know that Getz will have to trade Cease eventually. Risking holding onto Cease until the deadline is one thing, but no argument can be made now that trading him next offseason would be more advantageous. We have now almost been through this offseason and the offers weren’t there. There is no way Cease is still a member of the Sox after this season’s trade deadline.
  16. True, he basically swapped similar picks. That makes more sense then, since Elias is a draft hoarder.
  17. I don’t see a path to a trade unless the Mariners interest was serious. Seems like none of these teams (Orioles, Yankees, etc.) want to give up their top prospects for a starter.
  18. Probably more surprising that Elias gave up the pick moreso than the two players.
  19. I know you never hope for injuries, but I bet Getz will be receiving daily reports on every teams’ starting pitching injuries from Spring Training until the trade deadline.
  20. It’s a no-brainer for what they gave up, but they will have to go through the same search next offseason as well, via free agency or trade.
