Sox looking at building in South Loop
WhiteSox2023 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Very close. The CTA Roosevelt stop for the Red, Green, and Orange lines would only be a 2 - 3 block walk, depending on where the main entrance to the new stadium would be. -
Sox looking at building in South Loop

Check out the history of corrupt ownership of the land. From one terrible owner to another. ? -
Fedde is 30, four years older than Rodriguez. That probably has more to do with the length of their respective deals, and also why the Sox signed Fedde. Less years and risk, but also less potential upside.

This is the last thing that Reinsdorf deserves. -
Burnes being off the market has been the word for weeks now.

Indeed, I’m all for this.

I guess I didn’t word my previous post very well. I’m not saying Jimmy is making anything up. But just because the Sox view him as a reliever doesn’t mean they are correct in their assessment. Meanwhile, the Jays front office thinks he can be a starter.
-
You want to put your money on how the Sox view players? A more successful team thinks he can cut it as a starter. https://theathletic.com/5209309/2024/01/17/blue-jays-sign-yariel-rodriguez/?amp=1

I’m not sure either, but how long does “proven talent” last until it’s proven to be over-the-hill and bad? Because I think Getz is past that point with at least three of his acquisitions this offseason. Sure, it’s $10+ million spread out among three players, but if they all suck in 2024, it’s still a waste of $10+ million that could’ve gone to one promising player with a future. DeJong Lopez Maldonado

A 27 year old potential starter would be worth the gamble for $8 million per year for 4 years. If he pans out as a starter, you have some serious trade bait. If he doesn’t, oh well, you have a higher priced reliever for a few years. Also, Getz wouldn’t be able to pay two awful players in future years like Maldonado ($4.25 million) and Nicky Lopez ($4.3 million) more combined salary. The Sox won’t get a thing for these two guys and their $8.5+ million dollars. The Sox have been wasting millions of dollars each offseason on washed-up vets. Time to try a new strategy. Why not throw some of those wasted millions at a guy that might actually have some upside?

His OPS dropped from .965 in 2022 to .731 in 2023.

Exactly what I was going to say. The Sox gave Graveman a 3-year, $24 million dollar contract. This is just another year tacked onto that deal. Hope for the best that he can stick as a starter. If he can’t hang on as a starter, his deal wouldn’t be that much worse than Graveman’s.

Oh man, I bet Rickey was pounding that rocket fuel.

Greenies. The MLB started testing for amphetamines in 2006, which supposedly brought an end to this.
-
What a con. Posting crap on here and the opposite on his own board. Snake Guy needs to stop making assumptions on what the Sox should want or who Getz may be targeting.

Was coming to this thread to post the same. Another Oscar option for RF. Still relatively young (just turned 26) and had a decent season offensively for the Guardians in 2022. Fell apart in 2023. Supposedly not very good defensively but I’d rather see a guy like this on the roster than retreads like Phillips or Payton. Still would need someone who can backup CF though. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/yankees-designate-oscar-gonzalez-for-assignment.html#google_vignette Here was Oscar’s 15 minutes of fame: https://youtu.be/Te_1BAFPCzo?feature=shared

I have no doubt the White Sox would have taken him if the Red Sox didn’t.
-
They think he’s going to be their next Judge so they won’t trade him.
-
Ortiz makes sense for a team that is on the brink of contention, just like how the Cubs traded for 26 year old Michael Busch. If his bat pans out, they have a cheap 1B/DH option and can dedicate money at more key positions than 1B. The Sox are definitely in a position to give a guy like Ortiz plenty of at bats but I think they would prefer a prospect return in the lower 20’s as far as age goes.
-
The Astros didn’t do us much of a favor with Korey Lee either.
-
His age has something to do with that.
-
Now that Ortiz has officially aged out of prospect status, who replaces him as the headliner in every Orioles deal?
-
The Dodgers were smart and dealt their older infield prospect with nowhere to play for a promising 19 year old pitcher.

Better than any head coach the Bears have had over the years. He wouldn’t be worse than the line of those losers.
