  1. I think most of the Cubs acquisitions will come from more free agent signings. They definitely have more money to spend.
  2. Yeah, Heyman said he thinks the new Rangers TV deal will bring in a one time cash payment of $100 million, allowing them to bring back Montgomery. I don’t think Hoyer wants to trade any of his prospects, much less the highly ranked ones. I think he is cautiously building for next season and beyond.
  3. I hope so. Montgomery back to the Rangers and Snell to any team but the Yankees and we may finally see this thing come to a resolution.
  4. I read through the DBB Twitter and it totally sounds like the Bears are going to F this up royally, if this guy truly does have sources. Sounds like they will keep Eberloser, replace Getsy, try to trade down the #1 pick, still draft a rookie QB with whatever pick in the top 10 that is returned to them in the trade, keep Fields, and let him compete with the rookie QB in training camp. Simply horrifyingly awful. If you check the DBB Twitter, he is now defending these moves to all the Bears fans that are saying it is the worst possible route to take. This strategy totally reeks of a GM who has no confidence in his own assessment of players and is desperately afraid to make the wrong decision. If Poles truly does this, he’s a coward and the wrong man for the job. I know it won’t happen but I will hold out hope that Harbaugh will be brought in to replace both Poles and Eberloser before this shitshow of decision-making actually happens.
  5. Awful. This has to be the worst possible option of all. Why can’t the Bears do anything correctly? Replace your coaching staff (Eberloser included), hire a new staff, let them have a say in what QB they want in the draft, and allow them to develop your new QB from day one. Trade Fields for the best pick(s) that you can get for him. What is so difficult about this? Why do the Bears continue to allow lame duck coaches to impact their franchise-changing decisions and infect their QB picks?
  6. Probably the case. Man, the Yankees signing Snell would really screw up everything. Getz would lose his leverage with Baltimore and also a suitor in NY that has a GM with the balls to make a deal happen.
  7. Weird. I’d rather add Cease as a starter at $8 million for 2024 and sign some flier relievers on minor league deals. I think that would be more impactful than wasting your last $10 million on free agent relievers. That would be the Hahn strategy.
  8. I still love love how the Orioles fans insisted that their younger prospects like Basallo (19) and Coby Mayo (just turned 22) were untouchable but at the same time didn’t understand why a 25.5 year old Joey Ortiz may have lost some value and wouldn’t be the headliner in a Cease trade. Take our old “prospects”, please! ?
  9. The key is where Snell goes, with Montgomery sounding likely to resign with Texas. Supposedly the Yankees aren’t enamored with Stroman so we need Snell to sign elsewhere.
  10. The Cubs will definitely be spending more money in the coming weeks on some combination of Bellinger/Hoskins/Chapman/etc.
  11. Need Snell to go anywhere but the Yankees.
  12. Extreme flyball pitcher with 91-92 heat? As long as the wind is blowing in at Wrigley, he should be okay. Otherwise, during the heat of the summer, there could be some lasers flying out onto Waveland.
  13. Good. Now hopefully Snell, Montgomery, and Stroman sign quickly.
  14. I don’t think Rosenthal is as much of a shill as Nightengale is.
  15. And what do you think adding a guy like Duvall, Gallo, or Hicks will do for this team? Are you solely looking for a flip candidate, because I doubt any of these three guys returns much at the deadline even if they have a big first half. Starting Colas in RF from opening day and on would be more productive for this team.
  16. No. Jerry was simply lying to Sox fans in his press conference when he announced that Getz was taking over and he said that he believed the Sox were only a few moves away from being competitive. Either that or he’s going delusional in his old age. Cease will be traded.
  17. Jerry likely even knows deep down that 2024 will be a lost season, although he would never admit it publicly. Why would he allow Getz to spend $10 million on Duvall? In the grand scheme of things, a Duvall, Gallo, or Hicks isn’t going to be a difference maker on the season anyways. Brett Phillips is definitely your guy. It’s the White Sox way.
  18. It’s news for any of the crazy people that think there’s any chance that Getz holds onto Cease until the trade deadline. Rosenthal says he will be traded once the rest of the better starting options (Imanaga, Snell, Montgomery, Stroman) are signed and cited the obvious massive risks that make holding onto Cease a bad decision — a poor first half performance and/or injury, which still outweigh Cease potentially pitching lights out.
  19. So is this an admission that the Sox screwed up with Crochet by bringing him up as a reliever? And also, will this be another screwup if he gets injured trying to throw way more innings?
  20. According to Brennaman’s Wikipedia page, he has been hired twice since the incident, so he has been given a second chance already. Do I expect the MLB to do the same? No, but I don’t think this should come as a surprise to anyone.
  21. The McDaniels/Vrabel to NE rumors are already circulating.
