  1. The Reds can barely compete with the Brewers and Cubs by building from within with their own prospects. They honestly have zero reason to want to trade any of their prospects for Cease. So yeah, this makes some sense. Either way, I doubt the Reds interest in Cease was ever legitimate.
  2. Oops sorry. My mistake. I still doubt Hahn made that ask.
  3. Definitely. But wouldn’t it make sense that Getz is simply waiting for the other starting pitchers that may be as good as Cease to come off the market, like Snell and Montgomery? Supply and demand.
  4. Agreed, or that Getz ever expected to get Holliday at last year’s trade deadline.
  5. I disagree. I don’t think Getz is going to get his initial ask (which was likely massive), and I also don’t think he wants to play with fire and watch Cease potentially get injured before the trade deadline.
  6. Exactly. Getz may not get what he initially asked for when he was shooting for the moon, but waiting until all of the rest of the good pitchers come off the board seems to indicate he is waiting for a team to blink and perhaps not give into his initial ask, but his secondary ask.
  7. I am not a fan of Getz yet, as his offseason of dumpster diving has been an embarrassment. But I sure am glad he is sticking to his guns with this Cease trade. Eventually, some team will blink.
  8. It’s not true. It’s Heyman the toad spouting whatever Boras tells him to. Without Boras, Heyman is nothing, and he wouldn’t be able to post meaningless tweets all day long.
  9. Who kicks a 57 yard field goal in a tie game to give the ball back to Stroud on the 43 yard line? Ballsy.
  10. I really wouldn’t doubt they are heavy on Snell and Cease. I mean, they need another top starter, so it’s pretty obvious that it makes sense.
  11. Bingo. This is the other factor. Heyman is a loyal servant to his lord and master Boras. All three players mentioned (Cease, Snell, and Montgomery) are Boras clients. Boras is working for Snell and Montgomery to get their money, but he has no motivation to worry about Cease right now because he won’t be a free agent for two more years. Snell and Montgomery are Boras’s priorities right now. Cease is getting paid the same through arbitration the next two years regardless of what team he is on, because he is obviously going to free agency.
  12. The article’s excerpt clarifies this (see below). To me, this means that either Getz is asking the moon for Cease (and rightfully so) and/or Cashman and other GMs are trying to lowball Getz. Also, the excerpt infers that Snell and Montgomery are asking for huge money. But I don’t see any way that this means that Getz is not trading Cease this offseason.
  13. I know we feel bad but just imagine being a Panthers fan. You just took the wrong QB and have to watch the Bears do whatever they want with your #1 pick. Putrid.
  14. Anyone Bears fan who watches both Stroud and Fields and is happy to settle for Fields is insane. It’s not even close. Stroud’s supporting cast is worse than Fields’ and Stroud keeps losing his receiver targets, yet still keeps getting it done.
  15. Is there any way Jones stays in CF? Dude is a behemoth.
  16. I understand the Brewers not trading Burnes cuz they can still compete but who in the hell thinks Getz isn’t trading Cease? There is ZERO path to contention so why would they not trade him?
  17. I like how they don’t want to give up the Martian OR Jones.
  18. Assuming Getz does not acquire Ortiz in a Cease trade, what are you going to do with him since he has no place to play for the Orioles?
  19. Would it be surprising if Caballero turns into a stud? The Rays seem to always make these moves for hidden gems.
  20. Bloopers and chopper-two-hoppers. The only people that would be impressed by this are Hawk and @poppysox. Yuck.
