  1. That’s cuz Baltimore prospects are the best, just ask Orioles fans. The Sox should trade Cease for the prospect that Orioles fans are desperate to move cuz they know he’s old and they have nowhere to play him. A 25.5 year old headlining “prospect” for a top starter. GTFOH. This is comical.
  2. Well, that’s only possible if you still think Ortiz is rated the 50th overall prospect in the MLB, which he won’t be due to his age once MLB updates their list.
  3. I never said he was 27. I believe that was another poster who has since corrected himself. He’s 25 and a half. He is 6 months away from turning 26 and only has a total of 33 at bats in the majors. He’s extremely old for a “prospect”. This isn’t an opinion. It’s a fact. I think Getz would love to acquire Ortiz, if he was still a 22 year old prospect, not an aging “prospect” who basically needs to start in the majors in 2024 or else he will lose all value. There basically aren’t many options with Ortiz which is the problem.
  4. It’s almost like even MLB media and fans know that Ortiz has nowhere to go to due his age and team, and are trying to force the Orioles to trade his ass for his own sake… But yeah, he’s still that 25.5 year old headlining young prospect that was rated 50 overall by the MLB last year!!!
  5. Oh man, Joey Ortiz’s old ass jumped from 50 overall to 90 overall. I wonder why…
  6. It kind of goes along with the Orioles prospect-hugging GM. I believe James Fox has been saying all along that he wouldn’t be surprised if a GM with balls like Cashman pulls the trigger on a Cease trade before the sackless wonder Elias ever does.
  7. True story. The 2016 White Sox signed a 37 year old Jimmy Rollins as their opening day starting shortstop. Needless to say, it was the last season he ever played before retirement. Its what they do.
  8. Exactly. Great post. If he was 22, I think Getz would be all over him.
  9. Ortiz’s age is the same reason I hated seeing people talk about Dodgers trade offers including Michael Busch as a key piece. But Busch was even worse cuz he’s actually slightly older, and although he may have a legit lefty bat, he apparently has no glove/position.
  10. I would disagree if Mayo was a legit defensive 3B and Basallo was a legit defense catcher, but I don’t know if this is the case.
  11. Orioles fans trying hard to trade Ortiz before his current #50 overall ranking on the MLB’s top 100 prospects list gets updated for 2024 and he falls to the bottom cuz he’s aged out. ?
  12. I updated my post since you quoted me, but I’m glad he did.
  13. A 20 year old, 6’9” top lefty starting pitching prospect with Randy Johnson comps versus an over-the-hill age 25.5 infield “prospect” who still has yet to prove himself in the majors. Frobby, if Ortiz was only 22 years old right now, do you think he would have more value? I think he would have a lot more value, assuming he was putting up the same numbers as he has recently.
  14. Ortiz is older than both Jordan Westburg and Gunnar Henderson and the Orioles have nowhere to play him. No wonder these Orioles fans have such a boner to trade him as the premier prospect in any deal. Good luck.
  15. Yeah, my assumption was both rookies playing equally well, but you already knew that. It’s just you trying to avoid the fact that Ortiz’s age makes him less valuable.
  16. The dude is going to be 26 at the midpoint of next season and has yet to establish himself even as a rookie. But no, that doesn’t impact his value at all. Look at the rookie stud prospects that get called up. They aren’t all 26 years old in their first full season. And which is worth more — a 22-24 year old rookie phenom or a 26 year old?
  17. Now you know how 95% of this board feels about you and your declarations about Orioles prospects.
  18. Yea, indeed. At this point, I want to see Cease to the Yankees and the Orioles get stuck with jack s%*#.
  19. Imagine if Sox fans were trolling your crappy Orioles message board right now, like you are doing here.
  20. Age matters. I doubt the Sox would want a turning 26 year old Joey Ortiz as a headliner over 22 year old Jasson Dominguez.
