  1. Getz is still likely asking for the moon. But is it shocking that there is no trade market for our oft-injured no glove expensive DH? The Sox need to throw away all of his outfielder gloves, tell him he’s a full-time DH whether he likes it or not, see if he can hit 20 homers by the deadline without tearing his ACL and MCL running to first base, and deal him as quickly as possible before he inevitable hits the injured list.
  2. Man, I remember desperately trying to obtain that card when I was a kid.
  3. I agree with you on PCA being a target Getz could be interested in. But explain to us why the Sox, who already dumped Madrigal once, would want him back again? Especially when they already have damn near his clone in Nicky Lopez, who shouldn’t be a starting 2B for any major league team either?
  4. Yep, for the Cubs. I think I mentioned that. Cubs fans also couldn’t believe how slow he was at running the bases just like Sox fans. Regardless, his bat would only play as a starter if he was a Gold Glove caliber SS as well. But he has at least turned himself into a decent backup infielder after proving he can play 3B. He’s just not starter material.
  5. My guess is that Elias won’t pay up for Cease and the Orioles end up not acquiring any starter this offseason. They proceed to get spanked in the playoffs again.
  6. Opinion is incoherently liking a bad player without ever providing any factual data proving your point that said player is good. But let’s move on and continue to talk about good prospects, not busts like Madrigal.
  7. Madrigal has 846 career plate appearances and has put up a career slash line of .280/.328/.354/.682. If he isn’t a Gold Glove defensive SS, that bat isn’t cutting it at 2B or 3B. Outside of his injury issues, we saw with the Sox that he wasn’t as good of a defender at 2B as he was expected to be as a prospect and he didn’t have the speed you would expect from a guy of his size and stature. He is never going to have power (unless he starts cycling roids) so what part of Madrigal’s game is going to drastically change to turn him into a good starting caliber player? He’s a nice backup infielder, but that’s about it. It’s nice that you have a high “opinion” of Madrigal, but why not look into the facts to make your judgment?
  8. I don’t think you would want to see that with Hall’s walk rate as a starter in the minors.
  9. The Sox apparently liked Peyton Pallette over Anthony.
  10. No where in the article does it mention the Red Sox trading Anthony over their other outfielders. ”And according to major league sources, the Sox have continued to explore trades involving their group of young outfielders — they currently have lefthanded hitters Masataka Yoshida, Jarren Duran, and Wilyer Abreu, as well as righthanded hitters Tyler O’Neill, Rob Refsnyder, and Ceddanne Rafaela. If the Sox deal from that group to add a pitcher, they could then return to the free-agent market to add a bat such as slugger Teoscar Hernández, in whom the team remains interested even after signing Giolito.”
  11. Jerry won’t let any of his GM’s sign any “best player at any position” and the GM’s that Jerry lets run the show aren’t good enough at their jobs to find enough diamonds in the rough to make the Sox a good team with their dumpster diving. Madrigal has been useful for the Cubs as a backup infielder who can play 3B, but he will never be a quality starter. You hoping that the Sox acquire him would only make the Sox worse than Getz’s 2024 roster already will be. The Sox already have a slightly better version of Madrigal. His name is Nicky Lopez. He plays better defense than Madrigal but he’s just as bad of a player because he can’t hit either. Neither of these two guys is more than a backup on a good team, yet Lopez will be a starter at 2B for the Sox and you are still yearning for the Sox to bring back Madrigal.
  12. Why would you be so surprised by this? He is the publisher and editor of Pro Football Weekly. They definitely have their whiffs but I’m sure he has some sources from other NFL teams.
  13. I heard he told everyone their responsibilities and expectations. Right after that, Jerry told Getz how much he could spend from the dumpster to attempt to build a .500 team. “We won the division in ’21, we were .500 last year. That’s nobody’s goal to be .500, but that’s still average.“ Good luck, Chris.
  14. The projected rotation is pretty sexy… Fedde Soroka Eder Flexen Shuster Toussaint ?
  15. It’s not irrational at all. Luck only lasts so long. It’s a reason guys like Hill and Flexen fell into the dumpster that Getz just fished them out of.
  16. He might be worth a low A lottery ticket at the deadline that won’t pan out to anything. He’s not worth giving any innings to over the Sox own pitching prospects.
  17. Gavin Sheets has no glove and can barely hit above the Mendoza line. He’s barely a bench player in the majors other than being a lefty and having the ability to hit the rare homerun on a meatball pitch, so of course he’s going to get starts in the outfield for our White Sox.
  18. They are going to help the Sox win the division. Just ask poppy.
  19. In an update to this story, Frank Thomas of the White Sox was rushed to the hospital after becoming violently ill after seeing Chris Getz’s most recent player acquisitions.
  20. Pretty obvious Getz isn’t using any special analysis on these acquisitions. It’s basically who is cheap cuz they are either old and/or sucked last year.
  21. Well, they better prepare for more of the same this year. Who would actually pay to see the product they will be throwing out on the field?
