  1. Why not? Because every young Orioles starter and/or pitching prospect will hit? Good luck with that. It’s just not realistic for any team.
  2. The latest rumor is that the Brewers will keep Burnes. https://theathletic.com/5154981/2023/12/21/brewers-corbin-burnes-braves-trades-the-windup/?source=emp_shared_article Even if the Brewers do trade Burnes, he is a free agent after 2024. Good luck resigning him on the open market, Orioles. No chance in hell. Luzardo has 3 years of control left so if you are aghast at the prospect price Sox fans are discussing for Cease, good luck with Luzardo.
  3. I have no clue what names have truly been discussed and neither do you. Period.
  4. Here’s a question — what good rotation starter with ace potential can the Orioles sign or trade for right now that they can actually afford with their payroll?
  5. I don’t understand these comments. You can say Sox fans are expecting far too much, and that may be true, but you are also making claims as if you are the Orioles GM and know exactly what offer Elias would accept. Neither side truly knows.
  6. I assume you are referring to the first Soto trade from the Nationals to the Padres? Soto only had 2 years of control at the time. Robert has 4 years of control. Big difference.
  7. Relief pitchers are apparently next on the task list. Position players, nah… the Sox offense looks great. The running theme is that they sign what’s cheap.
  8. Agreed. I don’t see it happening. Elias doesn’t want to move his top prospects. Not sure how the Orioles hope to seal the deal when his big offseason move was Kimbrel for closer. Yikes…
  9. Not sure how you can say that struggling in the majors doesn’t impact a player’s value. So if Cowser hit 10 homeruns in his first 77 MLB plate appearances, his value wouldn’t have jumped up more? Of course it would. Just like the inverse is true.
  10. This is literally your own feelings and desires. While I hope this is the case as well since the Sox need bats and god knows they can’t develop them on their own, the reporting has been that Getz is trying to get pitching in return for Cease moreso than position players.
  11. I think you’re going to be disappointed at the eventual return for Cease if you think he should return those 6 prospects and 2 more from the Orioles in their 10-15 range.
  12. Yeah, I don’t think Getz can take that risk. He likely has only two good trade chips in Cease and eventually Robert and he has to get some sort of return. Hanging on to Cease and him getting injured would be devastating.
  13. At what point is it just likely that Getz is asking interested teams for more than any of them are willing to give up and he needs to lower his ask? Once Snell and Montgomery sign, and Cease still isn’t traded after that?
  14. Unfortunately, not much. Sox will lose some fans but Jerry will continue making his money.
  15. I guess the problem is, this is always the Sox strategy, whether they are competing or not.
  16. Nailed it. The Sox will always rather spend $10 million on a handful of guys that suck and should likely be cut before the end of their deals, instead of one good player for the same money per year that would actually be productive. Has this not been the case forever? Kenny, Hahn, and now Getz. Maybe they just have no other option due to Jerry. God knows, Jerry loves this strategy. He basically telegraphed it when he announced Getz as the new GM.
  17. Trevor Bauer settled his case with his accuser. Does he look any closer to playing in the MLB in 2024?
  18. I think this is the point. Seems like it would’ve made more sense to pair either Stassi or Maldonado with Korey Lee. At least Lee has some youth on his side. Ironically, Stassi and Maldonado are the type of backup catchers Sox fans wanted when the team was actually in competition for the division and playoffs.
  19. Getz has talked about improving the defense numerous times. Jerry even came out and said David Eckstein was one of his favorite players when he promoted Getz. Getz has since acquired a bunch of young pitchers, along with all defense and no bat position players (similar to Jerry’s favorite player), including two catchers. None of the bats he acquired can hit a lick but they may be able to support the development of a young pitcher. I don’t understand why Tray thinks your idea on Getz’s plan is outrageous. I don’t think any of it will be very successful but with Jerry as the owner looking to cut payroll, I don’t think Getz has a prayer of doing much in the way of improving a terrible roster.
  20. I doubt this guy ever plays another MLB game. He seemingly fled to the DR to avoid charges in Florida, didn’t he? His career is going to end faster than Addison Russell’s.
  21. Indeed. Maybe if he would’ve signed for $2 to $3 million, but he got $10.5 million from the Jays.
  22. Fedde / Mets — okay, one other team was interested. My mistake. Soroka has pitched a total of 46 innings since 2019. He didn’t even pitch in 2021 or 2022. You are delusional if you think any team was paying him $9 million for 2024, considering his injury history. Two lauded catchers, one who didn’t even play last year in Stassi and one who the Astros finally dumped in Maldonado after his pitch framing and arm fell off big time. And finally, Paul DeJong who hasn’t OPS’ed above .674 or hit 20 homeruns since his single All-Star season with the Cardinals back in 2019.
