  1. Sheets is a terrible player and a few homers in Spring Training isn’t changing my mind. But please come back later this season and remind me about how right you were when he has garbage numbers and gets DFA by the Padres. Just to remind you, Sheets has a career line of: .230 / .295 / .385 / .680 Sour grapes? I didn’t want the guy last year and I am glad Getz finally got a clue and non-tendered him. He’s a DH/1B that can’t hit well enough to play either spot, yet he was masquerading as a RF for the Sox which was even worse. If you think he’s a good player, you aren’t living in reality. He has done nothing to indicate he is a good player and has declined every year since his rookie season, meaning that the massive holes in his swing were likely figured out. I’m sure the Sox will forever miss that -2.7 career bWAR.
  2. Thorpe was #85 on MLB‘s top 100 list at the time of the Cease trade. I just don’t think you are going to get that much for Robert. De Paula alone might be asking too much unless the Sox wait until the trade deadline and Robert plays like an MVP in the first half.
  3. Greg Boysen, Vinnie Duber, Ryan Herrera, Herb Lawrence, and Nicholas Moreano would disagree.
  4. You wouldn’t trade Robert straight up for De Paula? He’s rated #40 overall by MLB. Hope is rated #74. I would be fine without the extra pieces.
  5. Rumors of new ownership is probably a big part of it.
  6. Dude will be OPSing .600 in no time if he makes the Padres roster.
  7. I always just assumed all of these guys have other jobs. I can’t imagine making money talking about the worst baseball team in the MLB. Not a really good career choice as long as Jerry owns the team. No one really cares outside of Sox fans, and probably really only the diehard Sox fans.
  8. I’m pretty sure Mr. Nelson knows what he’s doing and it’s all intentional. Of all the White Sox bloggers, he gets the most radio (The Score) and TV time (GN Sports). He’s winning the game by being off-the-wall and weirdly opinionated.
  9. Half the teams in the MLB are usually competing for something. The Sox are in the other half. There is no reason they can’t easily keep Smith on the roster. Losses will be in abundance already and the Sox have shown they have no problem playing a man short to save a few bucks. They will do the same to retain a decent pitching talent.

  11. Not a fan of Poles throwing money at two older guys, assuming he also extends Thuney, but oh well. I thought the point was to develop a long-term group of guys to go with your young franchise QB? It looks like Poles is patching together a team that could be good for a year or two.
  12. Not so much hitting, but hitting with any power.
  13. The 78 cannot be built on. It’s basically Chernobyl circa 1986.
  14. Why can’t you enjoy anything on your own? Does it personally hurt you that a large majority of Sox fans logically think that the team sucks? Your mention dreaming. What is a dream? Something that doesn’t usually come to fruition…
  15. I thought he was dead…
  16. He sucked in his first outing. He couldn’t find the strike zone. But no one said to send a Rule 5 draft pick back. He cost only $100K and just needs to last on the Sox terrible roster for 90 days I believe. It would be stupid not to try.
  17. Ouch, you’re right. I just looked at his splits as a starter versus reliever. His few good starts for the Brewers in 2023 apparently weren’t the norm.
  18. Sox should take it slow as hell with Thorpe. I honestly think they should be employing a 6 man rotation. I’d like to see both Smith and Wilson in the rotation. Try to turn Wilson into a trade asset.
  19. Meidroth will turn 24 in late July but I would still play the hold him down in AAA for a month or two game to get another full year of control out of him.
  20. Haha, you know something like this is going to happen.
  21. I agree on needing more power. I just don’t think Lee will bring back anything of value. He has more value in sticking around until you are sure the young catchers are ready.
