  1. Or she already knows that there is no proof that she ever had a gun in the park during the game because the police helped her cover it up at the direction of her friend, the mayor, and her friend smuggled the gun out of the park for her immediately after the accidental discharge. This is the story I heard from a friend, who has a buddy in the CPD. Even before contemplating the ridiculous physics it would take for a bullet to enter the park from outside, Occam's razor tells you the answer. This woman has been lying her ass off this entire time and is now trying to cash in because she knows there is no evidence against her and that they will settle with her so she goes away for good. The likely settlement will involve an NDA so she can never discuss the incident again. Her shadowy interview with ABC7 was an embarrassment. https://abc7chicago.com/amp/white-sox-shooting-victim-interview-guaranteed-rate-field-chicago-public-schools/13839792/ The article you linked also says that she is “seeking damages in excess of $50,000 dollars.” My guess is that it is probably quite a bit more than $50 grand.
  2. A blind monkey could have made better moves.
  3. Maybe clear your browser’s cache? I only had an issue early on due to my Pi-Hole DNS server and ad blocker not obtaining the new DNS for the site. Once that updated, the site has been flying for me with no ads or errors.
  4. Stone Pony is now just another loyal peon of Jerry’s. Long gone are the days of The Legend questioning the team as he did with the Cubs in 2004. He is milking this gig into retirement, not that he even needs the money, but probably because he is bored. I believe he is still divorced and his main companions are his dogs.
  5. Okay, the picture is deceiving then. I know the names don’t have to be the actual team names (e.g., Southside), but I don’t like it because Serpientes means Snakes, not specifically Diamondbacks. But I am just being nitpicky.
  6. But you are though. Your own words… ”The average DH is about.750, so finding those hitters should not be too difficult. Burger is a little bit better than that, though.” A .050 difference in OPS is not “a little bit better than .750. An OPS that is .050 higher is a big difference. And guess what? It is difficult to find .800 OPS hitters! As I already stated, Getz couldn’t even find one hitter than could maintain a .750+ OPS this season, and barely a .700+ OPS before he traded him (DeJong). So now you have reverted to talking about Burger’s combined offensive and defensive WAR to prove why, a player that you described as a DH, is only worth 1 combined WAR. By YOUR OWN description of Burger, he shouldn’t be playing the field and should be at DH. Well, Burger’s fWAR on “offense only” is 6.2. So if you only start Burger at DH, the role in which YOU described him as, he actually has a ton of value, as long as he isn’t playing the field or is very limited in that role, so his poor defense doesn’t completely cancel out his offensive output. It’s completely obvious how biased your argument is. You are looking for ways to make Burger look less valuable than he is. On a competitive team, if Burger was employed as a DH only, and perhaps a part-time 1B, he would be incredibly valuable to that team. Definitely more so than a bust pitching prospect that may never pitch in the big leagues. Eder currently has a 6.56 ERA along with a 1.68 WHIP in 96 innings in AAA, and he’s turning 26 in just two months. It was an absolutely horrendous trade… period.
  7. A little bit better than that? Burger is an .800 OPS DH. .050 points better in OPS is a big difference from .750. Keep trying to minimize it. The Sox can’t even find a single player that can maintain a .700+ OPS, much less a .750 or god forbid an .800 OPS. Our savior Eloy’s career OPS is .788. Moncada is at .756 but at least he has a glove, oh wait, he can never stay on the field anyways.
  8. Except Harold actually thinks it was a good day, not just because Kenny and Hahn were fired, but because Getz was promoted.
  9. Really? What is that, urine yellow? 🤣
  10. Excellent post. I am sick of reading posts about how there was absolutely nothing that Getz could have done or done differently. Yeah, he wasn’t going to make the playoffs but if he didn’t make such awful moves, the Sox wouldn’t be on pace for the worst record in MLB history.
  11. Would that even cut it these days?
  12. Until we realized not only had nothing changed, but somehow JR replaced a couple poor GMs for an even worse one.
  13. But then he surprisingly broke out with the Sox, and they still hadn’t paid him yet, nor did they have to. Isn’t that the ideal situation, after seeing Eloy and Moncada get lazy and injured for most of the rest of their overpaid Sox careers?
  14. Is it just me or is the site flying now? Anyone else notice it is loading threads faster?
  15. What do the Sox have to show right now for Getz spending $25+ million last offseason on mostly bad players? Miguel Vargas? Oh joy… I’d rather the Sox spend that money on their minor league system so they can actually develop and churn out their own players rather than let Getz waste another $25+ million next offseason on bums. We’ve seen the dumpster diving strategy employed year after year and it doesn’t work.
  16. Nawww, c’mon, that’s crazy talk! You don’t want to praise this team for winning their 31st game in late August? Like, stop just going with the flow, man…
  17. Guys trying to avoid “the” record.
  18. You act like I don’t know this. You also seem to think that no GM under JR can have any success. Then how did 2005 happen? A GM under JR can also be terrible (see Chris Getz).
  19. Burger would be worth more to this team than both Eloy and Eder whether or not he was traded. Eloy is going to be a free agent once he is bought out and Eder may never even see the major leagues. Yes, with Eder, that is using hindsight but oh well. Maybe the Sox did sell Burger high but they got back crap. And Burger is currently at .770 OPS with a career OPS of .795.
  20. According to his Twitter, Stone says there’s multiple people to blame.
  21. The rumor is that the Sox payroll is getting cut to $100 million, which would be a bottom five payroll in the MLB.
  22. It likely still wouldn’t cost $25 million. And even if it did, many people would be happy that it would be $25 million less that Getz would have a chance to burn on terrible player acquisitions like he did last offseason. I’ve already listed out all of the bums he acquired in other threads, and yes they all cost a combined $25 million for a combined negative WAR.
  23. Is your narrative supposed to excuse Getz for his two starting lineup acquisitions in Fletcher and Vargas? Neither player is earning much money so your narrative doesn’t really apply, and yet they were who Getz still chose to acquire. We already know that Getz could have traded for Jake McCarthy (.829 OPS / 2.3 WAR) instead of Fletcher (.562 OPS / 0.5 WAR). And trading a 4+ WAR starter on a cheap contract for Vargas (.583 OPS / -0.1 WAR)? Brutal. I understand the narrative you are stating and there is some truth to it, but it doesn’t apply to these two specific awful acquisitions made by Getz.
